Lucky enough to have a Tesco delivery tomorrow. Will it have anything on it?

As the title says. I'm worried it's going to turn up with nothing on it. Online it says they will not be doing substitutions.

From the news it looks like stores are empty? We are self isolating so I'm panicking a little. We are definitely going to be in trouble without it.
Anyone had a delivery in the last 24 hours?

My tesco delivery came today. Only missing items were DH's Peroni, baked beans and a bag of plain flour.

Subs - Linda McCartney sausages where LM rosemary sausages.
Yellow peppers were little box of salad peppers.
Frozen brocolli was savoy cabbage.
Extra mature chedder was just cheddar.

Everything else fine.

Ginjanotaninja · 21/03/2020 22:44

I had my Ocado delivery today, only had 3 subs, all perfectly acceptable.

Peanut55 · 21/03/2020 22:49

Only think showing as not available for my shop delivery on Monday is Formula and chicken breasts.

I had about 10 items out of stock, so I found alternatives and added them (pork and beef mince instead of just beef for example)

Just hoping I get some fresh meat. I have one tub of formula which will last until Tuesday. Then will have to venture out if it doesn't come back.in tomorrow.

Angel2702 · 21/03/2020 22:53

I haven’t had a delivery since Sunday but everything has been there this week and last week. I think it depends where your delivery comes from. I think ours comes from warehouse rather than a store.

MuddyDog · 21/03/2020 22:54

Had one today and was pleasantly surprised. Probably 80% of the order arrived. Loo roll came but no rice or pasta. There were a few substitutions but otherwise items weren’t available..

jimmychooing · 21/03/2020 23:05

@dottydally no, that must be the difference! I've looked at all the supermarkets and no joy for weeks so I'm just hoping it calms down or they open more slots

dottydally · 21/03/2020 23:13

@jimmychooing that'll be why then! It'll also explain why there's no slots available even when you look at midnight as they've been open to delivery saver customers for a week by the time they are visible to you. You could sign up for a plan? Tesco do one variation where you only have to sign up for one month at a time x

awkwardbuttons · 22/03/2020 03:04

I have delivery saver but can't see that far ahead. What plan are you on?

mochajoes · 22/03/2020 03:11

Oh so I need to sign up for a plan to get a delivery?

CherryMaple · 22/03/2020 03:55

@Icecreamdiva I asked in the supermarket today about why there was no red milk. The assistant said that the dairy who supplies them has stopped producing red milk altogether so they can focus on blue and green. Not sure why this would be... Is there less demand for red milk or does it take much longer to process? Confused I miss red milk...

Fruitteatime · 22/03/2020 04:47

We have a shop coming Monday. On another thread posters were suggesting that you shouldn't go back into the order once made as if any items went out of stock in the meantime then checking out again would remove the items and no substitutes would be looked for. Tesco faqs for covid 19 said they are still looking for subs. Can anyone confirm?

I'm not sure whether to go back in now and see what's in stock, but if it reflects stock levels of Sunday after trading surely there will be hardly anything and there's a chance it will be back in stock on Monday when it's picked. Or does it reflect what they expect to have in stock on the Monday after their deliveries?

Lucky enough to have a Tesco delivery tomorrow. Will it have anything on it?
Marieo · 22/03/2020 05:18

@CherryMaple much less demand for red milk.

Asda seem to be releasing random slots a few days away when every other one is full, it doesn't seem like cancellations, but maybe they have a van and driver extra as it seems to be slots for the duration of a shift (if that makes sense). Worth periodically checking if anyone needs one.

Cranb0rne · 22/03/2020 05:51

Ours was missing quite a lot but most of the fresh stuff was there. What's worrying is that I can't book any more orders at all now. I don't want to go to the supermarket as the thought of crowds of fighting people is terrifying.

dottydally · 22/03/2020 06:21

@mochajoes I'm not an expert but it looks as though you can see further if you have a plan!

@awkwardbuttons I've just booked a slot for the 18th. I'm on the one month rolling plan which is £7.99/month. I used to be on the 6 month one but had a break after a few questionable deliveries (pre Covid!). Signed back up for this one a couple of months ago as I found Tesco was still better than the other supermarkets I had tried.

There are still slots in my area for the 17th so might be worth a look. If not, can you click and collect?

jimmychooing · 22/03/2020 07:21

I signed up for delivery saver last night, and can still only see the same (booked up) slots. I don't get it!? Confused

Wejustdontknow · 22/03/2020 08:15

I have always had a reoccurring slot with ASDA for 8-9 on a Saturday morning as always use delivery, order that came yesterday was around £100 as we are shopping for 3 households just now, only 1 unavailable was a gammon joint, about 15 subs and only one sent back was garibaldi biscuits which were sent instead of fruit shortcakes for in-laws as no one likes them. It would seem to be that if you have a early morning slot you have a good chance of having a decent delivery but anything later than mid morning the pickers will struggle as shelves are getting empty by that point.
@jimmychooing it’s abit to late to be signing up now as the slits will all have been taken by people who either use it normally or that booked them when they realised how bad this was going to get. My only advice is to keep checking and as soon as you see a slot available book it as reoccurring so they save it for you each week

Wejustdontknow · 22/03/2020 08:17

@Fruitteatime that is definitely true for ASDA, they will sub an unavailable but if you edit it won’t let you check out again without removing it

jimmychooing · 22/03/2020 08:21

I understand, I'm just confused how some people can see up to the 18th April. Now I've paid for delivery saver and there's no slots so I hope they sort it soon. Thanks for the ideas Daffodil

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 22/03/2020 08:24

We've moved this to the Coronavirus topic now

Why? This thread is about food.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 22/03/2020 08:39

I booked slots up a month in advance. Thankfully as we are self isolating, due to symptoms. Got a Tesco delivery coming on Monday, went on to update it and lost my 6 pint milk from my basket, can only now replace with x2 2 pint bottles, also can also get 3 loose bananas due to product limit restrictions. But can order 3 bags of 5 bananas.
I get they are trying to stop stockpiling but when you are struggling to buy enough to feed a family of four. I’ll go back on tonight to see if it looks like anything has become available. I had a delivery early last week and was pleasantly surprised. No rice, pasta, flour, handwash, chicken breasts or dettol wipes. Everything else came with or was substituted appropriately.

AvocadoPrime · 22/03/2020 08:53

Asda has changed it opening hours from 8am-8pm and I've actually just had my email saying I've got everything but one item although there is alot of subs. Some decent, some not so much. Better than last time when I had at least 10 unavailable products! They seem to pick as soon as or before they open.

PonderTweek · 22/03/2020 09:00

Slightly off topic, but as all supermarket workers are working really hard to keep us all fed, I thought it would be nice to tell them how much we appreciate their work. I had to speak to Tesco customer services yesterday and I made a point of saying how their efforts don't go unnoticed, and the person I spoke to seemed really pleased. Also said this to the delivery driver and he seemed happy too. I hope it makes a bit of a difference to their day.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 22/03/2020 09:09

@Pondertweek you are absolutely correct. I am completely grateful to the Tesco workers who have ensured that I have been able to feed my family this week. Whilst also ensuring that we can stay at home and not potentially spread infection to society. If we hadn’t had a online shop one of us would probably have had to leave the house to do the shopping.

Theyrecomingtotakemeawayhaha · 22/03/2020 09:13

My worry is that having persuaded my mum to book a Waitrose(I know)as soon as her last order arrived, she has one every 3 weeks,us that if things are missing and her next order is 3 weeks after that

Guacamole · 22/03/2020 09:18

We got about 50% of our order. We got milk and bread which I am grateful for. But no meat at all, no eggs. The eggs I’m going to have to send DH out for I have to make DS a birthday cake. He’s going to have a crap birthday as it is with no party, no friends, struggling to get through to Halford to see if we can pick his bike up early before any of us get to the point of self isolation.
