Lucky enough to have a Tesco delivery tomorrow. Will it have anything on it?

As the title says. I'm worried it's going to turn up with nothing on it. Online it says they will not be doing substitutions.

From the news it looks like stores are empty? We are self isolating so I'm panicking a little. We are definitely going to be in trouble without it.
Anyone had a delivery in the last 24 hours?

My parents had an Asda shop delivered this morning, it had most things except a loaf of bread and it wasn't available, no surprise there though. Quite a few subs but they kept most of them, they weren't after tins/loo roll etc though.

Worriedaboutundiagnosed · 21/03/2020 15:28

I have an order coming from Sainsbury's this afternoon. They have already texted me to say that half the items are unavailable.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/03/2020 15:29

No toilet paper, bread flour, rice, Dove handwash, or paracetamol here.

Lots of (sensible) subs too.

ChequerBoard · 21/03/2020 15:32

I had my Ocado order yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised as I was expecting to not to get much. I actually got everything except cold tablets (unsurprising) and only 3 sensible subs sausages instead of chipolatas, different brand of rice, different brand of cherry tomatoes!

girlsyearapart · 21/03/2020 15:33

Sainsbury’s this morning

Lots of subs all sensible ones but we gave the chocolate spread and cereal to a friend as they had nuts in and dd2 allergic
No beer, loo roll, dried fruit snack things, tuna , pasta or shreddies

MidnightVelvet9 · 21/03/2020 15:34

It was OK, don't panic. I got this via text then email:

We are extremely sorry to let you know that due to store issues, we have unfortunately had to cancel your order that's due today. You have not been charged for your order.
Kind Regards
Your Grocery Home Shopping Team

I went to a garden centre that has a butcher in & got meat and eggs, then went to Tesco and managed. There's a lot unavailable but there is also stuff there :)
My Plan C was to do a daily shop at the local shop

I have a delivery tomorrow, too... things are looking bleak!

Icecreamdiva · 21/03/2020 15:40

My Tesco shop came today and it had most things I ordered. Except skimmed milk. I don’t understand why whole and semi skimmed are available but not skimmed. Can anyone enlighten me?

user1471530109 · 21/03/2020 15:53

Midnight that's a great idea, but I wouldn't be able to go if isolating.

Right, I will go back on late this evening. Thanks, all. Seems a mixed bag. The corner shop in village have out out that they are taking orders and delivering.
The one good thing about all of this is the new found sense of community (villagers delivering to elderly and vulnerable). It's been missing for so long. Let's hope we remember this when we are back to normal.

I had mine this morning. Also edited last night so I could swap for items I liked.

I only had 3 substitutes, all of them were fine.
I had meat, cheese, toilet roll, potatoes and bread in my order, all items that I didn't expect to arrive! Very impressed and happy.

I spent £79 on an Iceland delivery but only got £35 worth! Aldi has everything in stock though.

strawberrylipgloss · 21/03/2020 16:18

I had a Tesco delivery yesterday and the only unavailable thing was milk. There was quite a few substitutes but many were for a bigger size than I was after so perfectly fine.

SilverySurfer · 21/03/2020 16:38

I alternate between Tesco and Waitrose for deliveries. I had a Waitrose order earlier and with the exception of none of my favourite cheese bread and a meat item and a couple of substitutions, it was all there. I have a Tesco order booked for next Saturday and it will be interesting to compare. Interestingly, although Waitrose had the no plastic bag rule, like all supermarkets, all of my order came in bags. Apparently it's their new method of delivery, enabling them to leave bags of shopping at the door. I'm guessing others may do the same.

I'm an ultra fussy eater and realise I now can't rely on getting the free range meat i need from supermarkets so I've placed an order with a really good London butchers which is being delivered next week. It's one thing less to worry about when booking future supermarket orders.

AlexandraPeppernose · 21/03/2020 16:44

Ours was fine today. Not all complete but enough stuff for us to get by.

FloofenHoofen · 21/03/2020 16:49

@RoseDog people who make honey and lemon drinks when they're ill at a guess.

PanicAtTheTesco · 21/03/2020 16:53

we had a sainsbury's delivery this AM
I would guess 60-70% of the stuff was as ordered. Mostly sensible substitutions, perhaps 8 items either no sub or sub returned. No pasta, apple juice, veggie burgers, apples, blackcurrant squash, cat food, UHT milk (for work) and a few others I can't remember. Was sent a 9 pack of loo roll instead of the 4 pack I'd ordered Confused.

Bonkersblond · 21/03/2020 16:54

Had a Tesco delivery Thursday, yep there was stuff missing, fairly decent substitutes and a whole chicken - I could have cried, all in all it was more than I expected.

Somebodystired · 21/03/2020 16:55

My delivery was booked for 8-9am this morning....at 8.45 they text me to say they had cancelled the delivery due a system error.

unchienandalusia · 21/03/2020 16:56

My Tesco order yesterday had 90% with 10% swaps for reasonable substitutes. Don't panic. You'll get food it just might not be exactly what you ordered.

I guess all of this might end up with less fussy eaters as we eat what we're given!

jimmychooing · 21/03/2020 16:58

Does anyone know what time tesco open the delivery slots? I've been going on every day for 4 days and each slot is gone already! I hoped I could log on when the slots open to try and get one

dottydally · 21/03/2020 17:03

I got a Tesco delivery this morning. Out of the 127 things I ordered, I got 124. Just missing milk, dishwasher tabs and frozen peas. Had a few substitutions but all reasonable! Managed to pick up milk from the Tesco closest to us - our shop comes from a Tesco 20 mins away as it's a bigger store.

(Not stockpiling, shopping is for 2 households as it didn't make sense to take two slots when we live so close).

ACertainSupermarket · 21/03/2020 17:08

It is likely to be better than it has been - earlier in the week it was really tricky. Regarding substitutions, it depends on availability of alternatives - if there is something suitable they will send it but if there is no toilet roll in the shop there's not much that can be done sadly!

SilverySurfer · 21/03/2020 17:10

jimmy are you clicking forward to the weeks ahead on delivery slots? I placed an order with Tesco yesterday for 17 April which is as far as you can currently book ahead. All slots between today and 16th are fully booked, at least in my area. They don't just open that day's slots each day, they would already have been booked, even before this crisis.

Littlejayx · 21/03/2020 17:12

I have mine booked in at Asda for Tuesday, I’m in self isolation due to my toddlers health so praying it’s not too bad 😩
