In the absence of a high temperature and no cough whatsoever?

Lifesavesocialdistance · 20/03/2020 18:27

It's a 'symptom' '

Like temp, dioreha etc

ChillinInMyBacta · 20/03/2020 18:28

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

Oxyiz · 20/03/2020 18:28

No. I can see why you'd worry but every single normal cough and cold we usually get is still around the place. It could be nothing.

Bagelsandbrie · 20/03/2020 18:29

Not proof, no. It’s a possible symptom. It could also just be a sore throat! We will never know either way. Best to assume it’s corona and isolate etc.

Unshriven · 20/03/2020 18:30

Well it's proof your throat is sore.

Nothing else.

BriefDisaster · 20/03/2020 18:31

it is a symptom of lots of things, no one can say for sure what it is without testing. But i would say it is enough to self isolate.

Miljea · 20/03/2020 19:39

Wish we could test. Otherwise (dramatic but true statement)- the NHS is about to lose a CT radiographer for 14 days.

Throughabushbackwards · 20/03/2020 19:42

I have it and I had a sore throat for the first two days with only a minor cough that developed on day 2/3. My mouth and throat tasted like metal dust.

wildthingsinthenight · 20/03/2020 19:43

Best to isolate and look out for any more symptoms

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 20/03/2020 19:43

The metal taste is a symptom, I think.

Theyrecomingtotakemeawayhaha · 20/03/2020 19:47

I have a sore throat and a drippy nose and I am very tired.I have, without doubt got a cold.

meredithgrey1 · 20/03/2020 19:51

I think they've said that in 99% of cases there is a fever (it's a much lower % for a cough) so without a fever you could still have it but it would be unlikely.
However I now have all the symptoms and they started with just a sore throat for a couple of days.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/03/2020 19:53

Wish we could test. Otherwise (dramatic but true statement)- the NHS is about to lose a CT radiographer for 14 days.

But it's not.

Unless you have a fever or cough.

You said it was a sore throat?

RoomR0613 · 20/03/2020 20:01

There's a sore throat/headache bug going around with no associated coughing/fever.

Who knows if it's anything to do with corona (probably not) but hopefully it's meaning that more people are isolating than would be otherwise.

Bramblespoint · 20/03/2020 20:03

Why are you going to isolate for sore throat? The guidance is fever or cough??

AmelieTaylor · 20/03/2020 20:08

JFC

They need to be testing Every Single Healthcare Worker WHO is unwell.

We need to be looking after them!!! Their viral load is huge (not for all, but many).

@Miljea. Isolate & use the time to get well 🌷

Apart from you needing to do this for you, we need you to do it to keep others safe and to keep the medical staff well!! We aren’t going to stop needing you anytime soon!

Babyg1995 · 20/03/2020 20:10

I have a sore throat and stuffy nose I know I've got a cold no coughing or temp .

Miljea · 20/03/2020 20:10

I'm not sure about his fever. He's usually a bit 'warm'! Unfortunately the thermometer has no battery. Ordered!

If I was sure about that, I'd be sure about CV! And I obviously don't want to keep dashing in to check!

A lot of cases seem to start with a sore throat...

I have a sore throat,. Dry cough & feel a bit headachy- I’m just hoping like hell its either nothing, or one of the other elevdntymillion things going around 🤞🏼

@Throughabushbackwards. Have you been tested?can you tell us anything else?!

screamer1 · 20/03/2020 20:12

I've got really sore throat, swollen glands and headache. Zero temp or cough though.

AmelieTaylor · 20/03/2020 20:12

@Miljea

So it’s not you thst has the sore throat?!

screamer1 · 20/03/2020 20:13

But I've had the sore throat for several days along with headaches . Nothing else has developed apart from the swollen glands.

IWantToBreakFreee · 20/03/2020 20:14

@Throughabushbackwards how did you manage to get tested

Miljea · 20/03/2020 20:15

It's DS who has the symptom/s. Not me.

Canklesforankles · 20/03/2020 20:24

Person needs to seek advice from manager. But in the meantime even if person has temperature and cough it is only 7 days isolation as long as they are better. The 14 days is for the rest of the household unless they get ill before the 14 days is up, then it’s 7 days from first day of illness.

I’ve attached helpful explanatory diagram.
