Unable to buy paracetamol what to do?

I only want x1 box just in case, or for just general use. Nowhere has any & I literally have none.

What else can you take to reduce fever?

Luckily I have calpol for my DS.

But if we catch COVID19 & have a rocket fever we’re fucked. There’s none anywhere

Lemsip absolutely does contain paracetamol

Lemsip def does contain paracetamol

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 18/03/2020 17:44

www.lemsip.co.uk/collections/lemsip-max-all-in-one

Lemsip is almost exclusively paracetamol.

shinynewapple2020 · 18/03/2020 17:45

@glaceon surely if you need aspirin for blood thinning you will be getting this on prescription, which is normally in a special small dose pack which is not what n general sale shelves.

OP have a check at the more expensive branded stuff Ie Panadol as this is paracetamol based, do you have any independent pharmacies by you?

WhateverHappenedToBathPearls · 18/03/2020 17:45

Have you tried petrol stations?

rogdmum · 18/03/2020 17:45

Yes, Lemsip Max contains paracetamol- warnings on the back of the box to not mix with other paracetamol medications.

Mrsjayy · 18/03/2020 17:48

The other ingredient of lemsip is a decongestant.

Gronky · 18/03/2020 17:49

Lemsip dies not , as far as I can see, contain paracetamol. It dies contain ingredients that those with "asprin" sensitive asthma should avoid.

I was unable to find any with aspirin.

Regarding general paracetamol availability. It seems that people in my area (Midlands) don't read packages very closely. All of the generic paracetamol at the supermarket was essentially gone but the packs of Anadin paracetamol (just 500mg of paracetamol per capsule, no other active ingredients) were essentially untouched for less than a penny more per pill.

Sadly, I watched two mothers arguing over the last couple of boxes of generic (it seemed too heated to get involved).

SuDaji · 18/03/2020 17:53

Co-codamol if you can tolerate it? Short term obviously but would help in a pinch. Boots and shops near me sold out, but small pharmacies near me have plenty. The pharmacist can sell you more at their discretion. I got a box of 100 this morning as I am a regular and pharmacist knows family circumstances and that I'm not likely to neck them all in one go.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 18/03/2020 17:57

Please don't buy calpol . I cant get any 6+because of bloody adults buying it as they cant get paracetamol tablets.

My mum got some in boots today but lucky to get there as they had delivery

CoconutPudding · 18/03/2020 17:59

Get Solpadeine. Same ingredients as Panadol but also has codeine for an extra kick. Always found it much more effective for colds & flu!

DesLynamsMoustache · 18/03/2020 18:01

Look for stuff labelled for period pain. Some of it contains paracetamol.

DesLynamsMoustache · 18/03/2020 18:05

And some online pharmacies have it, I just checked. You can order for delivery within a few days.

VisionQuest · 18/03/2020 18:05

My local supermarket and the pharmacy were completely out of paracetamol yesterday. But they did have plenty of cocodamol (codeine & paracetamol)

NotDavidTennant · 18/03/2020 18:06

Our local shops were cleared out of paracetamol, but had plenty of boxes of 'cold & flu relief' tablets which if you looked closely at the box listed paracetemol as the main ingredient. Check everything closely.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 18/03/2020 18:08

Cold medicine has paracetamol in, just go into a pharmacy and ask or read the ingredients.

Isadora2007 · 18/03/2020 18:08

You don’t need it. THIS is why there aren’t enough boxes or bottles of paracetamol for those who DO. Fucksake.

scothols · 18/03/2020 18:11

I was in my local independent pharmacist today, someone asked for paracetamol at the counter.

They were selling max 30 per person from a bigger box/bottle (not sure which) The man only bought 10, cost was 70p.

I had just bought a bottle of day nurse which contains paracetamol cost £5.

TickTockTickTockT · 18/03/2020 18:11

High fever is actually very dangerous. If people do catch COVID19 they can’t leave their homes or I would not leave my home. What am I suppose to do?
I have tried my local corner shops they have none.

TickTockTickTockT · 18/03/2020 18:12

For those taking offence, I only wanted one box it’s hardly stockpiling

SecondaryBurnzzz · 18/03/2020 18:17

My local Budgens had Panadol today, maybe look in your local shops.

According to a doc on R4 World at One yesterday, fevers can be a good way to kill the virus, so don't need to be brought down (in adults presumably). Listen to it on Iplayer if you can www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_fourfm (13.26-13.32mins)

KahlanRahl · 18/03/2020 18:17

It is stockpiling. You're only buying it to have in stock. It's also panic buying, you didn't miss it till you got anxious about catching corona.

I think that everyone should always have some in the house but now with the panic buying is not the time to panic buy this. You will literally take it away from someone who needs it.

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 18/03/2020 18:18

Is it really true that there’s no need to reduce a fever?

I was unwell the summer before last with a fever. Tried to not take anything and felt absolutely dreadful. Was eventually admitted to hospital with pneumonia (no cough) where they were desperately trying to reduce my temperature. They seemed concerned about it to be honest.

I was freezing and they kept encouraging me to pull back the sheets on the bed and left a fan on me constantly in an attempt to bring it down.

Bingeslayer · 18/03/2020 18:19

I've managed to buy some cold and flu tablets, they contain paracetamol and caffeine as an added bonus.

mumwon · 18/03/2020 18:21

savers had some I managed to get strong version (I dose tablet) from Lidl (they are out of main part of town so I got my loo rolls too , yay!)
