Op I hope your OK it's frightening.
Have you got supplies in, anything for the dc to do?.
Try and think now what you need..

Doyoumind · 18/03/2020 11:00

Do you think this could be anxiety related? Can you get out in the garden and get some fresh air and 5 minutes peace?

FAQs · 18/03/2020 11:03

Just out of interest did you have a sore throat? I had a sore throat for a few days but no cough or temp? Today I can't take a full breath and my lungs feel warm (??) but no temp or cough.

WhyNotMe40 · 18/03/2020 11:05

I had a sore throat 2 weeks ago then a week with no symptoms. Small cough started a week after sore throat but mostly gone now just left with a tight/ heavy chest

This is what I and my eldest daughter have. About ten days ago I was floored and in my bed. My whole body was aching, throat was sore, sore head slight cough. Never took my temp. Lasted about five days and then it went away for a few days. Sunday night my throat started feeling a bit sore again and had a really sore head then yday my throat was really sore, really breathless, head is agony slight coughing. Feel like I have acid in my chestnits burnt feeling and getting a pain on my right upper back on breathing. My temp is usually 35.8 as I have bradycardia and it's going between 37.1 and it was just 35.1. New thermometer. Throat isnt sore today at all now and rarely coughing but feel wiped out and when breathing in deeply to catch a brearh I'm also getting a stabbing pain under my right ribs at the front which I think is muscular. I feel okay to self manage it at this point.

Hope you are okay op

FAQs · 18/03/2020 11:25

I guess we will never know what is actually is, that sounds rough @scbchl pleased you are coming out the other side!

WhyNotMe40 · 18/03/2020 11:33

I'm quite scared. It's scary not feeling able to breath. I get a lot of chest infections anyway and this feels nothing like thatb- it's deeper like the bottom bit of my lungs are solid

OP posts:
tangledyarn · 18/03/2020 11:35

@scbchl that's so strange. That's exactly the course mine has taken with exactly same symptoms with a weird gap in the middle. Still feel rubbish and struggling with my chest but have got dressed today!

Scbchl · 18/03/2020 11:40

@WhyNotMe40 do you have any inhalers at home?

@tangledyarn I have just come to bed, going to try sleep a few hours as feel wiped out now. Glad you are feeling a bit better today.

safariboot · 18/03/2020 11:58

Breathing difficulties are absolutely a good reason to get medical attention.

WhyNotMe40 · 18/03/2020 12:02

No no inhaler. I've been through the nhs 111 online thing and as I'm not coughing there appears to be no problem Confused it specifies 3 hour long cough g firs in the past 24 hours. I've had one coughs "fit" this morningt, and a couple of single coughs every hour or two....

OP posts:
WhyNotMe40 · 18/03/2020 12:03

I can breath, just don't seem to get quite enough and definitely can't do a deep breath

OP posts:
WhyNotMe40 · 18/03/2020 12:05

And I seem to have a faintly audible wheeze/whistle but I'm not asthmatic

OP posts:
RuffleCrow · 18/03/2020 12:08

If it was just this i'd say anxiety. The slight temperature would make me more concerned.

highlandcoo · 18/03/2020 12:10

I can get this when I feel stressed OP. I can't get the air in because I'm breathing too shallowly and not breathing out enough if that makes sense?

Can you try some gentle distracting exercise like yoga stretches, try not to think too much about your breathing throughout, and see if it settles down?

The more I think about it the worse I get. It hasn't happened for years but it's sneaking back at the moment with all the worry unfortunately

highlandcoo · 18/03/2020 12:11

Obviously if it gets worse seek more medical advice. Hope it improves soon

WhyNotMe40 · 18/03/2020 12:12

DH (,workiy from home) has stopped working to take the kids so I can go to bed)

Keep sipping water OP, while you wait to know if you should go to hospital. My aunt had COPD and was on oxygen for a few hours per day. When she sipped water constantly, for some reason it improved blood and oxygen flow around her body. Sorry, not in medicine, so don't know the science.

Homkaismycat · 18/03/2020 12:14

I must admit I had a feeling of heavy chest, like I can’t breath properly few days ago.
I though maybe it’s psychological, as we are all in panicking state.
It went away but it comes back from time to time.
I’m in a risk group so very worried.
Also I had chills on the whole Saturday, was shivering but no fever.
Very strange.
Also about three weeks ago I also had these same chills for about 3 days, had to sit on sofa covered in duvet cover.
Had a bit of sore throat. It all went away after few days..

WhyNotMe40 · 18/03/2020 12:17

Yes I've kept feeling cold and had to put extra jumpers and 2 pairs of socks on etc

Homkaismycat · 18/03/2020 12:25

@whynotme40
Perhaps it is it and it affect everyone differently Accor to their immunity system..
Who knows..
Husband had something 3 weeks ago, started like a bad sore throat, moved to chest quick, he said he felt like hips was drowning at night.
But he got better on his own like in 3-4 days.
I must say, he is rarely ill, but again could be just any other virus..
Who knows.

Taciturn · 18/03/2020 12:30

Breathing difficulties can relate to Iron and B12 deficiencies
And also liver / gall bladder issues

Amber2019 · 18/03/2020 12:34

Anxiety? I get this, feels like I cant get a full breath. Like I need to yawn to get it, but of course that doesnt work because its anxiety and I'm actually breathing fine. I then end up with a sore neck/back where my lungs are because I'm straining for a full breath im already getting if you see what I mean.

One of the main consequences of COVID is viral (not bacterial) pneumonia.

The NHS is seems to be minimising essential information on how this progression occurs and what to look out for (from mild to moderate and then severe forms of COVID 19).

See the advice below from the American CDC website to help you decide if you need hospital treatment. Whilst this is a scary prospect the only way to check and see if your oxygen levels are okay, or whether or not you are developing viral pneumonia is to check your oxygen levels and have a CT scan or (the less accurate) Xray.

American CDC say the following, I include the first paragraph as it shows cough OR shortness of breath, you do not have to have a cough.

Call your doctor: If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms, such as cough or difficulty breathing, call your healthcare provider for medical advice.

If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19 get medical attention immediately. Emergency warning signs include*:

  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion or inability to arouse
  • Bluish lips or face

*This list is not all inclusive. Please consult your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning.

@14Homkaismycat
That is similar to me.
Last Mon overnight chills.
Then next day breathless. Which has continued and had another chills another night.
No cough yet.
Dc2 has had fever then cough starting the Sat a week after half term.
And there is a case at dc1 school.
How long does it take to feel better??
