Hello. Are you in the Ocado virtual queue? What position are you?
Would you like some company?

whats the point of twitter post as some of us dont use twitter.

wondering7777 · 26/03/2020 15:03

Interesting @Xiaoxiong - 50% is high! Hope your order for today turns up.

I’ve never had a creme egg or a bottle of wine. Just a copy of the free Ocado publication when I once accidentally ticked the box asking if I’d like a free “gift” with my order Hmm

So if there are no slots for March or April and they’re cancelling reserved slots too, then who’s got them all?

tootyfruitypickle · 26/03/2020 15:04

Well that’s never happened to me! Blimey .

wondering7777 · 26/03/2020 15:05

X-post with Inescapable...

tootyfruitypickle · 26/03/2020 15:05

There’s no information on how they’re finding new vulnerable customers though? I’d like to direct my Dad there but I can’t see how they’d recognise him as vulnerable ?

FreakStar · 26/03/2020 15:06

Yes, mine was more expensive too! Partly due to us all being at home, no eating out, no school meals and also the lack of offers which they normally have- they have put the prices up! It's hard to not buy more than you need when you know the other supermarkets are empty, you know your future orders are probably unavailable, and you know every man and his dog now want to shop at Ocado! (even though they scoffed and thought it snobby before)

SurpriseSparDay · 26/03/2020 15:07

FreakStar, yes, a ‘free’ bottle of wine on every anniversary of my first order. (Subject to standard minimum purchase of course.) Essentially a voucher for £10 (IIRC) off any bottle. I had high hopes for my 10th anniversary gift last autumn, but it was the usual thing.

(I don’t know why some people aren’t getting this - perhaps it only happens if you’re signed up to SmartPass?)

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 26/03/2020 15:08

I'll be gutted if they cancel the reserved scheme. I'm a vulnerable customer on the shielding list and have been told by the NHS to remain at home for 12 weeks. I will be on the government vulnerable list that will be distributed to the supermarkets in due course.

All the other supermarkets are overwhelmed with new customers already so I don't hold out much hope of anyone else being able to offer me a slot and I'd rather not risk going to the shops myself.

I know there are community volunteers for shopping but I'd prefer to remain independent and do my grocery shopping myself online so they can assist more needy people.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/03/2020 15:09

Their communications are woeful at the moment. Say on the log in page that there are no slots, FGS! Be honest, tell people that if they sit there waiting for four hours to get onto the site there is a tiny chance they might hit the moment when a delivery slot in their area is free, but it can't be guaranteed. Give them some idea of when later slots might be released. I can only assume they're so overwhelmed that they don't actually have answers for that last point, or surely the comms team would be getting the message out there.

FreakStar · 26/03/2020 15:09

But Smartpass hasn't been going since the beginning has it? I've only been using Smartpass for the last year or so. Always just picked cheaper slots like Thurs night at 10pm before that to get cheaper or even free delivery.

tootyfruitypickle · 26/03/2020 15:11

I’ve got smart pass. Maybe I get it but ignore it, most of the vouchers are irrelevant to me. If life ever returns to normal I’ll look out for this now! Really want a glass of wine now !

MarshaBradyo · 26/03/2020 15:12

If the regular customers aren't getting deliveries, then who is?

Their demand is x10 usual we all just want to shop online more atm

tootyfruitypickle · 26/03/2020 15:12

I’m queuing now, want to see if my delivery slot is still there!! 71751 which isn’t too bad...

wondering7777 · 26/03/2020 15:13

I think it's a bit weird to say that some customers are going to be contacted about 'priority access' but not define the logic that underpins it.

I can't see it'll be vulnerable customers as they're surely don't have data on that.

Would it be based on annual spend? Longevity as a customer? Or perhaps rolling it out based on when your last shop is scheduled for (so prioritising anyone who hasn't a slot in the next fortnight)?

Fuss · 26/03/2020 15:17

I always get wine or chocolates on my ' Ocadoversary' as they call it.

I have a reserved shop for 2nd April and if I go to site I can get in instantly to edit that with no queue.
My reserved order for the 9th was showing last night but I couldn't generate it. Today its not showing at all.

My some miracle I managed to get an Asda slot on the 9th (no, don't know how either!) so have defaulted to that for now.

MarshaBradyo · 26/03/2020 15:18

Must I missed this did they say priority access for some?

tootyfruitypickle · 26/03/2020 15:19

That’s reassuring fuss, mine is for 31. That wasn’t showing up til mid last week (saying no slots avail be) but then it appeared!

Piggywaspushed · 26/03/2020 15:21

I reckon SmartPass is about 4 years old.

GiantKitten · 26/03/2020 15:23

Is “Ocado Reserved” different from just a normal reserved slot?

ElfDragon · 26/03/2020 15:24

I am so confused.

I’ve been with Ocado for 15 years. Had a reserved slot for longer than I can remember.

All was fine until last weekend, when my reserved slot didn’t generate (unsurprisingly, given the information we now have about timescales).

This morning I got a random email saying my reserved order for tomorrow has generated, and will be coming as usual. I have been able to get straight into the site each time I have tried today, no queuing, just straight in.

Have just seen the updates people have posted about reserved slots being cancelled going forwards, so just checked, and got straight in again and apparently my order tomorrow is still placed- who knows whether it will turn up?

bruffin · 26/03/2020 15:26

Freakstar, i became a customer in 2006 no sure when smartpass started but its been a long time.

MarshaBradyo · 26/03/2020 15:26

Giant before all this happened you could reserve a weekly slot for as long as you liked

I didn’t because I always assumed Ocado would be able to deliver (dammit!) they could have put in the blurb good for pandemics (I jest)

MarshaBradyo · 26/03/2020 15:27

As for how long you’ve been with them I took it more to mean they won’t stop non-vulnerable people using them as others have

Not so much about number of years

tootyfruitypickle · 26/03/2020 15:28

It looks like they have been asking drivers to identify vulnerable people , which is going to mean just elderly of course , but they should have a system for other vulnerable customers to register .
