Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

I would imagine it would be to those that would normally be offered a flu jab and health care workers first? And then rolled out to anybody else.

BarbedBloom · 18/03/2020 14:27

Hi all. I posted a thread earlier saying that I am trying to be positive and using my 12 weeks of isolation to improve myself. Started pilates today (ouch) and am getting seeds to start a vegetable garden (have fruit growing already).

I use insight timer for meditation. I need to focus on some positive things as have been struggling last few days

Alsohuman · 18/03/2020 14:30

A British study thinks they may be able to start human testing of a vaccine next month which is amazing news!

They’re already testing one in the US. I keep flipping back to p4 and checking out those gorgeous puppies. Thank you so much @AlandAnna for that link, you deserve a damehood for services to mental health.

Roussette · 18/03/2020 14:33

Just to let everyone know... National Trust are opening all their parks and gardens for free. No cafes or shops, just open air.

tobee · 18/03/2020 15:14

What I'm finding difficult to find out is 12 week isolating with a family. My Dh is immunosuppressed and I have high blood pressure. My dd lives with us and is healthy. How does that work? I'm distancing myself from Dh (sleeping separately) but am I allowed to cook communal food? We normally share cooking? Does my dd have to isolate for 12 weeks? Is she allowed to go to shops etc etc?

HonestlyItsFine · 18/03/2020 15:18

I would say nobody is allowed to go out for the whole 12 weeks, other than for walks. :(

Noooblerooble · 18/03/2020 15:19

Tobee you need to do what you can but ultimately if one of you gets it you are all then at risk even if you try to keep separate. No guarantees though.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 18/03/2020 15:22

Sorry but we're straying into scaremongering here which is not what this thread is about. We are not on a 12 week lockdown - where is this coming from?

Alsohuman · 18/03/2020 15:24

Yes, this is the positive place. Please, please can we keep it a haven from doom and gloom?

HonestlyItsFine · 18/03/2020 15:25

It was just in topee's question about her own personal circumstances. But maybe this isn't the thread for it, you are right.

peachgreen · 18/03/2020 15:43

@purpleme12 Yes it is free.

MortyFide · 18/03/2020 16:30

I've been away for a day or two with work obligations, but our team has now been instructed to WFH for the foreseeable - my employer is ploughing effort into setting up digital systems and equipment to help us do so seamlessly, so props to them. They have even devised new remote working practices to support our clients, with senior management seemingly coming up with a plan overnight. I'm not enjoying my job much right now but I'm quite impressed with their positive approach, they've really pulled it out of the bag.

DH is still getting some work, he can still go to people's houses if they want him to come in (think building type services) so as long as he and they are symptom free and they invite him I think he'll continue - as is the plumber in our road, who just told me he is busier than ever.

We've been to the supermarket and the shelves had been stripped by the vultures, but never mind - there is plenty of food available, we might just have to eat a random concoction of whatever we can get over the coming weeks.

We have pizza, apples, crisps, cheese, biscuits, chocolate, and brown bread. And an 11 week old puppy to keep us entertained.

Pinkarsedfly · 18/03/2020 16:37

I’m just marking my place.

moita · 18/03/2020 16:42

I need this thread! Couldn't sleep last night and was looking at photos from a few weeks ago thinking how different things are now.

I'm determined to stay off the really scary threads on here. Read a book in the evening instead of watching the news and plan activities for my 3 year old and 1 year old.

Going to make paper boats tonight for them to decorate.

AssangesCat · 18/03/2020 16:46

You'll never guess what's just happened here. I sent DH to see if we even possessed a thermometer that worked and he found a couple of bottles of hand gel. Just wanted to share the happy news really!

AutumnRose1 · 18/03/2020 17:00

moita speaking of paper boats, I wanted to learn a bit of origami! But my brain is a bit frazzled so I’m reading Agatha Christie and doing a colouring book!

A lot of the adult ones seem to be swear words surrounded by flowers 😂

AutumnRose1 · 18/03/2020 17:00

Morty I love that pup!

Spudlet · 18/03/2020 17:07

@AutumnRose1 Origami cranes are easy to make and very satisfying! I made loads and loads for our wedding. I cut squares out of magazines to use, wildlife and photography magazines especially that have such beautiful images to use.

You’re meant to make a thousand, apparently, for a thousand years of happiness. I ran out of time at about 700! You thread them onto strings and hang them up.

Callybrid · 18/03/2020 17:45

Just to add the RSPB are following the National Trust and waiving all parking and entrance fees to reserves whilst closing visitor centres and cafes. So that might be something else nice to do.

Good news about the hand sanitiser Assangescat! I’m off to the shops tomorrow and really hoping the stockpilers haven’t been out in force round my neck of the woods

Moomin8 · 18/03/2020 17:58

Place mark

SureTry · 18/03/2020 18:08

I've lost my appetite. Can anyone suggest anything highly nutritious that I can eat in little amounts?

IdrisElbasLeftTesticle · 18/03/2020 18:09

My husband spoke to a friend of his who works for one of the large supermarkets, and she told him they do their restocking at around 9pm. So if you can manage it 9.30pm might be a good time to try going!

Disclaimer: I have no idea whether this is true for every supermarket, or even every branch (the friend works for Morrisons). May be worth a go though.

tobee · 18/03/2020 18:23

Hey everybody! Just got back to this thread! Sorry if my earlier question sparked doomy thoughts. It's tricky coz I wanted to ask here because people have good info and links rather than trawl through other threads of a less reasonable nature. BlushBlushBlush

tobee · 18/03/2020 18:24

Especially to @chocolatesaltyballs22 and@Alsohuman

Bloodybackpain · 18/03/2020 18:25

@SureTry I think you are allowed to eat whatever the heck you want right now!
