To go abroad next week?

I need some much needed advice.
I'm aware how serious things are getting but I just need to know what you would do.
It's my friends 30th and next Friday we are booked on a DFDS boat to Amsterdam.
We only get 6 hours in Amsterdam on the Saturday so we will only go to pubs.
Would you still go?
They have said the service is still up and running

well they are expecting a lockdown in holland so i guess your trip may be cancelled
HeronLanyon · 15/03/2020 14:54
Did you post about this before- surely? If so we pretty much all said a resounding ‘no’ and directed you especially to news reports regarding cruises.
If you did not then please take above content as my answer.
AlexaShutUp · 15/03/2020 14:55
No, I don't think anyone should travel right now unless they really need to.
Wineislifex · 15/03/2020 14:55
I’d imagine it’s guna get cancelled so don’t worry about it!
Ellapaella · 15/03/2020 14:57
I'd be surprised if boats full of tourists will be leaving the UK next week and even if they are I doubt you will be able to get off the other end!
If it were me I definitely wouldn't be going
YakkityYakYakYak · 15/03/2020 14:57
If you’d have asked even a few days ago I would have said yes, but no I wouldn’t go now. I think we all need to seriously limit where we go and what we do. I’d also be worried about getting stuck there. Can you suggest something else to celebrate with your friend?
haddyh · 15/03/2020 14:58
I've been assuming it would be cancelled but DFDS replied to my tweet saying the service would be going ahead.

I have a friend who is touring around Europe right now despite many many warnings about how it is a bad idea and she may not be able to return to Australia. Since yesterday she's finally realised that the shit really is hitting the fan and it isn't all fine as she has repeatedly said. 🤦🏼♀️
RunsForGummyBears · 15/03/2020 15:02
Don't do it, even if you can go it's likely a lot will be shut down and you may have problems returning
haddyh · 15/03/2020 15:02
I know Spain /France/Italy/Austria are on lockdown but I haven't heard anything about Holland

I live in Amsterdam fairly centrally. After weeks of apathy from the government, people are taking social distancing seriously after new measures were announced on Thursday - no gatherings over 100, universities closed, my kids international school closed, Dutch schools as well soon, all theatres, museums, sports teams all shut down, everyone has been told to work from home. Restaurants are shutting. Bars are following suit. I am fully expecting travel to stop in the next few days.
I was supposed to be going with my family on a no-holds barred amazing trip of a lifetime to Africa the week after next and we are about to cancel and lose a very very large sum of money (£15k+++). There are no cases where we were travelling to but we feel we have a social responsibility not to inadvertently spread it. Please don't travel here.

Was supposed to be travelling with a group of friends to Amsterdam next weekend. Half of us have already cancelled and I expect the rest will follow suit this week. It is irresponsible and unnecessary to travel abroad for non-essential reasons at present.
