So a child at my sons secondary school has been confirmed to have coronavirus. They emailed us before school started today to tell us there would be an update late morning and not to ring the school but to wait for the update. The update comes telling us about the child and that they are now self isolating. They are closing school at 1pm for a deep clean and will re-open Monday as normal.

Why on earth have they allowed the students in today BEFORE the clean has taken place. They knew about this last night too as one of his teachers emailed me to say that my son wouldnt be able to hand in his GCSE coursework today as planned because his lesson wouldnt be going ahead. He didnt reply to my email asking why!

We already know they won't close schools. They want everyone to get it, especially the children

The government is treating our children like guinea pigs and would have been told by gov to keep it open at all costs. Be angry at the clown that's running this s*show

Yes im starting to realise that. I am considering keeping all mine off from Monday although my son is taking his GCSEs so I dont know what to do for best. I am not too concerned for my childrens health if they get it but I have a husband with a chronic lung condition and an elderly mother with diabetes that I am really worried about.

I thought they explained that it’s too early to close the schools? I wonder if there is science behind that. In any event, why would they want children to get it? That’s a bizarre claim.

Did you send your child to school this morning knowing about the infected child?

I think I'm keeping mine off from Monday too.

Not going to follow government advice anymore.

I think that's really irresponsible of the school though our school is saying it's being advised the same and just following government advice. Thankfully no-one has the virus at the children's school but that policy seems so irresponsible - I know one of my children's teachers has heart problems and around 60 and male, very high risk but appears no-one is considering that, school were going to send him on a week's Italy school trip. Hmm I sent through the data to him on risks and he hadn't been aware, think he was glad someone cared about him but it's really irresponsible.

I read the OP as the first e-mail just said there would be an update but no mention of coronavirus.

The Government (Cummings and Johnson) believe in survival of the fittest.

They're not bothered. If they get it, they'll get the best medical care.

Well I’ve got 2 others at a school that have siblings at the colleges so work that one out for infection!

How stupid! They should have told you as soon as they knew. It’s almost as if they wanted all the children there so purposely said nothing until they’d arrived. But it’s equally likely it’s just a total lack of common sense.

I don't trust the government to do the best for this country- we've already seen BJ's true colours regarding brexit. He only wants what's best for himself- and he's putting the Economy and his reputation before the people.

He didnt reply to my email asking why!

I'm sure you were his number one concern.! Isn't it clear why he can't hand it in if he isn't in school? The Summer exam schedule will be a nightmare so I shoiuldn't worry unduly.

I think there's a lot self isolating from monday, the official reason given to schools.
They won't close schools, if you don't agree you have to take them out.
Hard, i know, if they are GCSE or A level, but you have to do the best for your family.
Mine is a boarder and home this weekend, we'll probably catch it from her, which scares me to death as both me and dh have underlying health issues.

Keeping your children off school will not help the spread if people are still going to work ect you will have to keep your kids at home indoors for 3 months min until it's peaked not following guidelines is what is going to cause issues also stay away from parents elderly ect we all have heath issues lung ones in our house and what you going to do with your kids for 3 months hahahhahah indoors also no food as you won't be able to get delivered hahahahha oh and my father in law has cancer and a heart problem so he is of the highest risk

Apparently the children will contribute to developing herd immunity. So schools stay open.

It's apparently not desirable for a larger number of us not to be exposed.
