Boom45 · 11/03/2020 13:38

Nope.

FthisS · 11/03/2020 13:41

My son is off. He has brittle asthma (probable copd) he takes azythromycin on top of 4 asthma medications. I just can't chance him getting unwell.

DontBe · 11/03/2020 13:43

No.

Rumplestrumpet · 11/03/2020 13:45

Absolutely not!!
I've only just recovered from half term and have Easter on the horizon....

Thisisworsethananticpated · 11/03/2020 13:46

No ducking way !

Flippetydip · 11/03/2020 13:46

Good grief no, what would I do with them all day at home when I'm trying to work?
So
Do I want to? No, no and hell no.

Would I if that were the advice (which it's not)? Yes, obviously.

PickAChew · 11/03/2020 13:47

Only just got one of mine back in, after a period of school refusal, and it's his gcse year, so no way.

LuckyLickitung · 11/03/2020 13:50

No.
They tend to be healthy and hardy. DS2 has a history of asthma symptoms, but hasn't needed to use inhalers this winter for the first time (cold tended to be a trigger)

A member of staff gleefully and reverantly came in the staffroom with hand sanitiser yesterday Grin I am getting the DCs to wash hands when entering the house which is no bad thing.

I see no point in keeping children off school at this stage from a generalised fear. If there is heightened risk to a particular individual or a specific localised risk that's different.

It's bad enough that DH is about to start working from home...

Maryann1975 · 11/03/2020 13:53

@Rumplestrumpet that’s exactly how I feel!

If the schools shut, obviously I will have to keep them at home, but until that point is here, I shall be Cheerily sending them off every morning, reminding them to Check they have a packet of tissues and to wash their hands frequently.

curlsnotfrizz · 11/03/2020 13:56

how would your work react, OP?

bulletjournalbilly · 11/03/2020 13:57

@Rumplestrumpet that's made me laugh Grin

Arthur2shedsJackson · 11/03/2020 14:02

Double nope

WwfLeopard · 11/03/2020 14:02

Yes 😭 I can work from home fine, but I worry if I choose to keep him off I’ll get fined by school & I also don’t think they’ll provide him with work todo. He’s in the higher risk group, but still following gov guidelines at the mo

Didthatreallyhappen2 · 11/03/2020 14:03

No, although our school is sending us information about remote learning, so I hope they'll be prepared if it happens. Fortunately for us we're not in either GCSE or A level years.

HoffiCoffi13 · 11/03/2020 14:05

No. If and when the advice changes, then I will keep them at home. At the moment I think the level of panic potentially caused and the social isolation would be of more harm to my children than the current risk of Coronavirus.

mbosnz · 11/03/2020 14:06

Nope. Eldest is in GCSE's, I want them disrupted as little as possible. Making sure they eat well, sleep well, and wash hands frequently. They're reasonably healthy.

GloriaMumsnet · 11/03/2020 14:08

Hi @Jerseygaly, we've had to move this over to Coronavirus, as we are with all our other threads on the topic

WhateverHappenedToBathPearls · 11/03/2020 14:08

@Flippetydip that's how I feel!!

greenlynx · 11/03/2020 14:15

My daughter has health issues and learning disability it’s not huge but she’s in risk group.I’m not keeping her in at the moment but we’ve cut activities and contacts so it’s to school and back home, to the hobby club and back home e.g. we didn’t go shopping last weekend as usual. I think it’s sensible. I would cut it more if necessary but I don’t work so is able to do this.

HairyFloppins · 11/03/2020 14:21

No really. As much as I would love them home and lock us all inside I don't think it warrants it at the moment.

DD has her A levels soon.

MarshaBradyo · 11/03/2020 14:25

Not yet

ChainsawBear · 11/03/2020 14:26

I will absolutely follow the best official advice as it comes out, but do I want it, no. It would be in every way hugely disruptive. If schools close, we will cope (somehow).
