No

pourmeanotherglass · 11/03/2020 14:30

No. DD2 doing GCSEs this year, and not quite finished syllabus in all their subjects yet. DD1 is year12 so could work from home if work was set, but closures not needed in our area at the moment as numbers of cases are very low. I wouldn't want to keep either home unless it was advised by the public health experts.

Evenquieterlife33 · 11/03/2020 14:39

Yes. My surgery just closed, online appointments only. I feel like schools should be closed too, if a waiting room for 15 mins is too risky then a school all day is too.

mamansnet · 11/03/2020 14:40

Hell no, never and no.

He's been off 2 days with conjunctivitis and I can't wait for him to go back tomorrow!

Love him but OMG he exhausts me Confused

Double3xposure · 11/03/2020 14:41

Hell no.

They have exams.

Anyway it’s bad enough having them around all day at the weekends.

Purplewhitelie · 11/03/2020 14:43

Yes cause some of us including our children are not in perfect health. But don’t worry about that though.

QuarterPastMidnight · 11/03/2020 14:51

Absolutely not!!
DD has been off nursery since Monday with a cold (definitely NOT CV!) and she's driving me up the wall. I'm due to give birth any day now and need her to go back ASAP!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/03/2020 14:52

No, because I need to go to work and have no one to do childcare for an extended period of time. Appreciate it's a worry for those with underlying health issues but my concern is my own DS and I need to work to keep a roof over his head.

eeeyoresmiles · 11/03/2020 14:59

Yes

Enough4me · 11/03/2020 15:04

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/300403
Government petition is open and now at over 250,000 to close schools when numbers jump, which it looks they are about to.

Devlesko · 11/03/2020 15:11

Yep, we should have gone into lockdown 2 weeks ago.
I wish they would close until this is over, but they won't.
Childcare init Grin
Some people are taking them out of own accord though, if you say you are self isolating there's fuck all they can do.
Kids are spreading it now in time for peak at Easter.

ChainsawBear · 11/03/2020 15:12

What on earth is the point of the petition? School closure is already being considered and will be put in action if the impact is deemed worth it. Or are we wanting governments to do their crisis planning on the basis of ill-informed popular emotion rather than expert analysis now?

Devlesko · 11/03/2020 15:13

So not just childcare, they are an inconvenience. Wow!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 11/03/2020 15:19

Yes one DC has health issues.

Enough4me · 11/03/2020 15:26

When I voted on the petition it was already past the 100,000 needed for a debate, but I felt that I could at least show how I felt on a government site.

Humina · 11/03/2020 15:30

Yes. I would like to, but think it's possibly already too late.

Purplewhitelie · 11/03/2020 15:34

I have a heart problem my kids have asthma. Do I deserve it then?

HoffiCoffi13 · 11/03/2020 15:35

Have you taken your children out of school Purplewhitelie?

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 11/03/2020 15:36

No.

TheRealMcKenna · 11/03/2020 15:37

No.

Children are least likely to suffer negative health effects - particularly very young ones.

I worry for working parents - particularly those that work in health and social care and in other essential services. Taking unplanned leave will cause havoc. It will lead to small children being looked after by grandparents - who are precisely the people who shouldn’t be coming into contact with asymptomatic super-spreaders.

I am saying this as someone who doesn’t work, so I have no vested interest in my kids being off.

Purplewhitelie · 11/03/2020 15:39

No. There seems to be no advice for people with kids or those in the household who have serious conditions. Do we just die then? I’m being serious?!

I can’t mention the other as it’s so rare I will out myself!

Devlesko · 11/03/2020 15:40

It's over 250k now on the petition. We all know it won't make a difference, but important to get your voice heard.

We are lucky as dd finishes end of next week and then just in for GCSE's when required. This has always been the case though, and I have signed the petition, and the other one, to allow those who want to take out to not incur fines.

Pilot12 · 11/03/2020 15:40

I'm a SAHP with a four year old at council nursery. I would love to keep him off and have us just stay at home but he loves going to nursery and he would miss it and his friends. Also if I stop sending him he'll lose his place as nursery is still open. DP thinks it's too early to make that decision as there are no CV cases in our town either. We'll wait and see, it's only two weeks until the Easter holiday anyway.

Purplewhitelie · 11/03/2020 15:42

There are cases in both here in 2 schools/colleges no deep clean nothing just sent home?!

Devlesko · 11/03/2020 15:43

It will lead to small children being looked after by grandparents - who are precisely the people who shouldn’t be coming into contact with asymptomatic super-spreaders.

My children wouldn't dream of asking me to childmind for them to continue working, they their kids as their responsibility. Grandparents are refusing and I don't blame them.
Younger working parents need to find young friends to help with childcare, swop and combine several families.
