I work part time and am due in an educational setting tomorrow. I have had a sore throat and cough since last Thursday. This continued over the weekend with tiredness and then continued into this week. I still have a cough but it is drying up, but I finding it difficult to swallow, have sneezes and a seriously snotty nose. I have mild asthma so finding it difficult to breathe but today feel like an elephant is sat on my chest.

Am I panicking? No fever or temperature as yet that I've noticed

You should call NHS 24 and see what they think.

AlexaCanBuggerOff · 10/03/2020 22:46

Ring 111 and they will tell you.

@Shinycat are you just strolling round every thread that might be about Coronavirus so you can post a snarky comment and have it moved?! You need to calm your jets, you’re being ridiculous.

Apirateslifeforme · 10/03/2020 22:57

@Rhubarbpeony I was just about to ask this myself. Hmm

Kwkwjwkek · 10/03/2020 22:58

If you’ve not been in contact with someone who has confirmed case of Coronavirus or been abroad to the risk areas then you don’t need to.

Apirateslifeforme · 10/03/2020 23:00

@carrottopper please call 111.
Most likely isnt the dreaded CV, but having these symptoms with asthma must be quite concerning. I think you need advice on whether to risk going to be around kids (who are generally a breeding ground for all sorts of bacteria and viruses!!)

I'd probably err on the side of caution and keep myself away from everyone until fighting fit again, just to be super careful x

Maythelordopen1 · 10/03/2020 23:01

@Kwkwjwkek not true! We have had a make confirmed case in our local hospital, he hasn’t been abroad and hadn’t been in contact with someone knowingly diagnosed! Ppl can carry it and not display symptoms...

Your chest symptoms sound worried even without covid 19!

Seek medical attention

@Shinycat but can’t you just scroll past? Takes less time than commenting and reporting Confused

CarolHasAnotherUTI · 10/03/2020 23:11

Shinycat, are you OK? Genuine question, you seem really angry and I can't think that threads about vegan sausages and coronavirus would really be responsible for that.

chuck7 · 10/03/2020 23:13

@Shinycat Do you report every weight loss thread to be moved to the relevant board? Parenting issues? Holiday problems? Step parent threads? Maybe you should apply to be admin and make it worthwhile 😴

DrSheldonCooperPHD · 10/03/2020 23:13

@Shinycat maybe they didn't realise there was a separate dedicated topic? Maybe their coronavirus fever has led to their usual mumsnet topic etiquette running wild.

carrottopper · 10/03/2020 23:13

Thanks for your replies. I will phone tomorrow. I usually get a tight chest with any cough.

Shiny cat- I don't care if this is reported and moved. Makes no difference to me where it is (I don't think) and I certainly haven't deliberately posted this here to annoy you and make you so irate. I just scroll past the ones I don't want to read/see.

OP posts:
carrottopper · 10/03/2020 23:14

Yes I didn't realise there was a separate section for coronavirus. Apologies

OP posts:
Hoik · 10/03/2020 23:16

Definitely give them a call. Aside from CV19 there is a nasty cough/cold bug doing the rounds. DH has had it and is also asthmatic, he needed a course of steroids to help kick itand the fucker has passed it on to me

Cherryland · 10/03/2020 23:17

@Shinycat people are just worried, I don’t think it’s entitlement it’s genuine fear. Besides the fact there’s hundreds of threads on this site on “non-relevant” boards.
Your anger seems quite extreme, it’s an online forum is it really worth getting that worked up?

Rhubarbpeony · 10/03/2020 23:19

@Shinycat it’s perfectly possible for you to report the thread to have it moved without a comment barking ‘FFS’ at someone who is clearly stressed.

Geepipe · 10/03/2020 23:24

Jeeze its an online talk forum it really doesnt matter! If you dont want to read coronavirus then ignore anything thats about it. Scroll onto something else. Dont deliberatly click an obvious title and then complain you dont want to see it.

Op deffo call 111 or out of hours gp. Heavy feeling in your chest with asthma is a concern and you may need steroids. Hooe you feel better soon.Flowers

CatAndHisKit · 10/03/2020 23:28

OP, this is not CV symptoms, more like your asthma been made worse by a cold. Snotty nose is not the symptom ov CV, and sore throat is present only in some, and with CV you must have fever.

Moo7878 · 10/03/2020 23:30

Snotty nose almost certainly means it's NOT coronavirus

carrottopper · 10/03/2020 23:47

Yes the snotty nose and lack of fever are the reasons I think I haven't got it. Thank you. Feel rubbish but don't want to bother nhs when so much else is going on

dontgobaconmyheart · 11/03/2020 00:00

@shinycat are you ok?... Just report if it if means that much to you and stop swearing at people because you have decided you're the gatekeeper of all coronavirus queries and threads.

You can have a pop at everyone else but they can't query why you're being so rude and aggressive and over involved over an internet forum that you aren't in charge of. You really have no idea at all what other people think, not every one is on here 24/7 and knows there is a separate thread even! OP's question (and everyone elses you are patrolling) doesn't appear to have offended the vast majority here as much as your post in it has.

I appreciate lots of people are anxious about the current climate but given the thread title, it's apparent what the thread is about, just avoid such threads if this is a problem. Swearing at a person who is worried about their health in trying times doesn't reflect very well.
