I hope that RapidRainbow does not mind me starting Part II of the thread - if you do let me know & I'll ask for it to be deleted.

It would just be a shame to not carry on as this is such a positive place.

Part I is here:

Hi everyone no news for me today even turned radio off in my car.

I only go on here.
You guys make me feel so much better and positive.

Thank you everyone 😊😊

Sunshineanddogwalks · 16/03/2020 11:29

Thank you for this and the previous thread. It's reassuring to know that there are others about who are trying to stay positive.

Today I dragged the dog on a lovely long, sunny walk finished with a huge coffee in my favourite coffee shop, and will be using the rest of my day off enjoying my solitude just in case we go into lockdown before my next day off.

Here's a picture of my exhausted dawg, basking in the sunshine after his long walk.

May I say thank you for these threads? Thanks

I posted a thread (in the CV topic) asking how I could help friends and colleagues with health anxiety who are understandably getting quite ill at the moment, and the only suggestion was to look at this thread!

I have spent the whole weekend reading this and your previous thread instead of any usual MNing, and it's been very helpful. I don't have any SM other than MN, nor do we have television, but I do read a lot of news sites (most recently tracking the re-election exploits of the tangerine Hitler ). Yes, we are facing a serious situation but we can avoid panic and doom-mongering, and continue to maintain our humanity.

"Some things are out of my control. But I can choose to respond calmly, wisely, and kindly"
I am taking this as my mantra atm.

Thank you for all the gorgeous pets/cakes/plants pictures Brew

Solidarity and positive thoughts to you all.Smile

Back from a walk in the woods with my handsome lad. I was trying to work out his age and I think he might be 14 this year?! He was delighted as he had most of the walk off the lead today - normally he’s on the flexi as he’s pretty deaf these days. But thought I’d chance it today. He was very good about checking to make sure I was nearby.

Saw this beautiful little flower too, so added that. A bit of sunshine on earth.

Didn’t see any people but honestly that suits me anyway... DH said this is officially sanctioned antisocialness, which suits us fine Grin

I suffer from health anxiety

I've just cleaned my bunny's out the sun in shinning
Got the washing out
Now sitting watching a film on Netflix with a cuppa
I've been at work all weekend so I think I deserve it.

No news I've even muted my WhatsApp as my work friends have started a conversation about it.
I choose not to read it 😂😂

Yes positive thoughts everyone

purpleme12 · 16/03/2020 12:05

Oh I would love to see your bunnies!

clunkyinthebackend · 16/03/2020 12:10

Right that’s it no more social media for me apart from this thread, the rest of the Mumsnet corona virus thread is crazy and it’s set my eating disorder off.

Time for a glass of water and a walk in the sunshine

Millie2013 · 16/03/2020 12:12

Yes bunny pics much appreciated ❤️

Just had a call from my son - which is a world shattering event in itself - lots of black humour about red crosses on doors and cries of “bring out yer dead”. I recommended Diary of a Plague Year to him.

It was so good to talk to the person who really, really gets me more than anyone else - I definitely made him in my own image! I highly recommend it to any parent, even if it was an advance apology for the lack of a mothers’ day gift!

HonestlyItsFine · 16/03/2020 12:57

Warm weather seems to slow the spread:

Thank goodness we're into Spring, and hoping it's a blazer.

TheWorstShed · 16/03/2020 13:13

Thanks for sharing that HonestlyItsFine. Good news.

I am struggling today. It's weird because I have been anxious about it for weeks and it feels like the world is now reflecting how I have been feeling. It is not a nice feeling. So today is hard.

Is anyone else struggling to focus with work etc? I have a short to do list but it feels impossible. I might go for the 25 mins work / 10 min break or whatever that strategy is.

FancyAnOlive · 16/03/2020 13:14

I'm so glad I found this thread. I'm 52, with high blood pressure and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I'm also the only parent to two autistic kids and have health anxiety. This is all sending my blood pressure higher, which is making me more anxious...and round and round I go! I've managed to stop reading the news on my phone in the evenings. I'm so scared.

HonestlyItsFine · 16/03/2020 13:17

FancyAnOlive I'm checking the BBC news site a couple of times a day. Had to log of social media for now, it's sending me crazy.
Really struggling at work. I have bad health anxiety and am washing my hands around every 5 minutes, which is overkill. I also don't really want to be too close to people, but we're in a pretty small space and WFH isn't an option.

TheWorstShed · 16/03/2020 13:17

It is the Pomodoro Technique, explained here. Might help with anyone else struggling with focus / news and social media boundaries. Basically 25 mins on any task you need to do, small break like short walk, coffee etc. Then a longer break after you've done 4 x 25 mins. There can be a checklist too.

Thanks for your lovely comments

Okay, I’ve hidden the topic but put this on watch.

Alsohuman that book sounds great. It’s very sunny so I’ve had a walk, which is never terribly exciting in London but there you go.

Good to hear the recovery figures.

HonestlyItsFine · 16/03/2020 13:20

also reassuring (strangely) to see the photos on the media of empty shopping centres etc. Hopefully people are listening and staying home. It will help a lot to flatten the peak.

Alsohuman · 16/03/2020 13:23

Posted by one of my FB friends.

I came across this and thought I would share it here.

"Far better is it to have a stout heart always, and suffer one's share of evils, than to be ever fearing what may happen." - Herodotus.- Or if you prefer - "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." - Frank Herbert (Dune)

nellodee · 16/03/2020 13:25

I'm usually on the doom and gloom thread, but I saw this and thought this was the perfect place for it. If it hasn't already been posted, it's an Italian nonna's advice for the Coronavirus and she is ADORABLE!

AutumnRose1 · 16/03/2020 13:26

I’d really like a dark humour thread but it’s not worth it for all the shit we’d get.

Alsohuman · 16/03/2020 13:28

You read my mind Autumn. Sadly I agree with you, the panickers would be all over it like a rash.

Layladylay234 · 16/03/2020 13:37

Hi all. So I'm a student occupational therapist and today in a seminar,we were discussing case studies of humanitarian disasters and how OTS could help with them. Our group chose to look at the Coronavirus and whilst it was a MASSIVE topic to examine,it was actually very positive. As it made me realise all the people who want to help and are being positive yet realistic about this.

I wanted to share our notes with you as I hope it might help some people see that there are a LOT of healthcare professionals graduating this year who are going to be prepared to deal with this situation for as long as it goes on. As my lecturer said today, this will go on for a while longer and we will be dealing with it in our first roles. BUT there are a lot of people with great ideas who are going to pull together to help get this sorted.

One last note. Out lecture today was from an OT who had graduated in 2009 and had worked out in Gaza. Her final message to us was to show us some pics of children in Gaza, smiling. She said you would never see that on the news and that the one thing she's learned through all of this is the resilience of the human spirit and hope. And I think this thread,is fucking alive with human spirit and hope.

Peace out now before I cry!

Will someone start a thread 3 when this one is full please? Thank you!

I’ve just been for a stroll in the sunshine, it’s a gorgeous day here, daffodils everywhere.

AutumnRose1 · 16/03/2020 13:48

This Tweet did make me laugh

twitter.com/alexjgriffin23/status/1239524303844052993

I planted a load of crocuses in mums garden but only the white ones have come up. Weird. Though they are my favourite, but sadly not hers!

AutumnRose1 · 16/03/2020 13:48

Alsohuman they’d be all HOW DARE YOU 😂
