Anyone else feeling a bit Confused not only about the Coronavirus of course but also any holidays you’ve booked and (hopefully) going over the next few months!

Should be gong to London during the Easter weekend but I’ve got a bad feeling this isn’t going to happen!

Hotel is Premier Inn, paid for, train paid for!

I live in an area popular with tourists. We are worried about an influx of people from cities this Easter bringing the virus in.
As the aim is to slow progress of the virus so as not to overload the health service, I think everyone should be keeping any travel to absolutely essential journeys only. Having holidays only spreads the virus more quickly- look at the all the new cases now from people who went to Italy in half term !
Spreading the virus will cost lives. We can all manage without a holiday this year.

bitheby · 08/03/2020 21:12

Supposed to be going to the Pokémon event in Liverpool after Easter. Have booked tickets and accommodation and was planning to drive so haven't booked travel.

If the event is cancelled then I might go for the weekend anyway as I doubt I'll get anything back on the accommodation. Obviously depends on what is happening by then and AirBnB do have a Coronavirus policy.

SweetMarmalade · 08/03/2020 21:14

If the advise is not to travel anywhere in the uk, if we’re in lock down, that’s fine, just as long as I get my money back! Hopefully the insurance I’ve just taken out will cover any monies paid. If we’re not in lock down then I’m still travelling.

I'm supposed to be going to London soon and I wonder if I should not go but then I think the percentage of the population that has covid19 is probably going to be about the same in Dublin and in London so am I really doing anything worthwhile missing a trip I'm looking forward to!
My DD is supposed to be going to Italy in May. Not so sure about that one.

Lovemusic33 · 08/03/2020 21:16

We have booked a couple days in Oxford over Easter, we were going to book the tour bus but have held back (will use my car instead), I’m just hoping things will be open as normal.

TheYearOfTheDog · 08/03/2020 21:17

I wish the govt (my govt) would just order no travel in or out. That would make it easier.

I can't believe the high mortality rate in Italy Shock

angelcakebananabrain · 08/03/2020 22:59

I’m in the Channel Islands and supposed to be flying over to Manchester in April, still planning to at the moment but will see how it pans out. Was going to go the Freshly Grounded live event but if it doesn’t end up getting cancelled like many other events I may just give it a miss to be safe. Also due to go to centre parcs in June and no idea what the state of play will be by then!

feeona123 · 08/03/2020 23:42

More concerned that I will not get on holiday! I have Madrid booked for the last day in April, will be gutted if they stop travel.

scall · 09/03/2020 00:22

We're going to Butlin's in a few weeks and then Cornwall later in the year. We still plan to go, unless we're prevented by lock down or if the venues shut. We'll be taking public transport there, and plan to use all the facilities (pool, soft play). We're in London and are still going on the tube every day and going to busy events and classes.

WhatsMyNewNameAgain · 09/03/2020 00:28

We're supposed to be going to a friend's wedding up north in a few weeks.

We haven't got travel insurance but I was planning to just book the train tickets at the last minute and we are mainly staying with family but if we end up losing the one night we booked the hotel for then so be it 🤷‍♀️

But I mainly just hope the virus doesn't spread by then as I would be gutted for the bride and groom if this spoils their wedding.

avamiah · 09/03/2020 00:34

scall,
Hi same here .
We are in East London and still using the “central line “, which has always been a health hazard “ before this 💀
My daughter is still going to her classes ( swimming , dancing etc and we are still hoping to go to Bournemouth for Easter .
Fingers crossed

SweetMarmalade · 09/03/2020 06:26

I’ll be gutted if I can’t go, the way the figures are rising daily though makes me think that come Easter, we might be in a similar situation as Italy Sad

Due to go to Alton Towers this coming weekend, would others go? I have young children.

Sunshinegirl82 · 09/03/2020 14:11

I would definitely go.

Thesearmsofmine · 09/03/2020 14:15

We’re meant to be going to Haven in a few weeks. We will go(if we are well and government advice hasn’t changed at that point) but I think we will avoid the swimming pool of things keep going as they are.

Random18 · 09/03/2020 14:22

frowner yes I would.

viccat · 09/03/2020 14:31

Mine isn't a trip as such but I have a tattoo appointment booked at the end of the month with an artist who is travelling here for a guest spot at the studio. I'm feeling a bit apprehensive about it - I would be in a small space for about 5-6 hours with a number of other people who may have come from different parts of the country and obviously in close contact with the artist tattooing me. I will lose my deposit if I cancel though.

spiderlight · 09/03/2020 14:43

My son has qualified for a national-level sporting competition in early May. It's a highlight of the year for him - it's the focus of all his training, all his friends from his club go, we stay in the same hotel if possible and make a big fun weekend of it. At the moment the competition is still going ahead, but it's a big three-day event and we're all hanging back from booking accommodation at the moment just in case (which means that if it does still happen, we'll all end up in different rubbish hotels because it's Bank Holiday weekend and everywhere nice will be full!)

pelirocco123 · 09/03/2020 14:45

just had to cancel 3 trips , due to my mums illness and recent passing away
I am not looking at it as lost money , just a mislaid experience

Ohdeariedear · 09/03/2020 14:46

Nope.

MauriceandAlec · 09/03/2020 14:47

No. Just booked train to go see friends a month from now in another part of the UK. Have flight booked to a conference in May.

3kidsandafewcats · 09/03/2020 17:01

We are going to Center Parcs at Easter, I’ve no plans to cancel.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 09/03/2020 17:10

Going to london in april, planning to still go assuming travel ok

MauriceandAlec · 09/03/2020 18:02

I'm headed to London in June and to N. America the last day of that month as well. My DD's school trip to France in mid-June is still on. Life is for living.
