There are a lot of posts of people worrying. I thought it could be helpful to share positive and assuring information in one thread.

For me, the most reassuring thing so far is the fact that of approx. 1500 people in the UK suspected to have and tested for CV have come back as negative.

Feeling much more balanced about it all today, despite the rising numbers - which are to be expected as more are tested and more results ready.

Nicecupofcoco · 06/03/2020 15:57

Love this thread ladies! It's been a great idea, I've been reading from the start... Its really helped! I'm glad spring is in the air! 🌷

Arcadia · 06/03/2020 16:14

Thanks all I've muted all the tabloids on my newsfeed and am just following this thread now to keep track of what's happening'. I've had chest pain following some nasty coldy flu thing earlier in the year (and poss pulled muscle from boxercise!) which has made me feel really anxious (and I have a history of health anxiety!) but I'm feeling more positive. more balanced info is coming through now. I'll add stuff I see.
As soon as we get warmer weather (already getting better!) the virus will die out as it can't survive above around 25C.
Lucky it's come now and not in October/November!

Roussette · 06/03/2020 16:42

Hoping for a warm/hot Spring! We have had years when it's been the best weather in the whole of the year then.

M0reGinPlease · 06/03/2020 16:57

Beautiful day here, sun gloriously shining. Feel like everyone might be slightly getting a grip now. Press seem to have pulled back on the hysterics. Feeling more sensible and manageable.

Orangeblossom78 · 06/03/2020 16:57

I am finding the i newspaper quite balanced and ok to read rather than the others if you do read a newspaper

littlequestion · 06/03/2020 17:03

Poor bloke has had a hard time from a load of idiots..good news is that he said having CV was less bad than a cold.

Orangeblossom78 · 06/03/2020 17:11

I wonder who the people are here in the UK at the moment. Hope they are not getting any abuse etc wonder if that is why we don't here so much about individual cases now.

Rassy · 06/03/2020 17:52

Littlequestion I found that guys comments re the actual illness reassuring - described it as a mild cold. I think he is the guy who had a piece in a USA paper last weekend

Jrobhatch29 · 06/03/2020 17:57

I read an article today that said countries who do alot of testing e.g south korea have a lower mortality rate as they pick up the milder cases.. And that the diamond princess is a good example showing amount of asymptomatic cases and mortality rate

Roussette · 06/03/2020 18:02

SKorea has the highest rates of testing in the world, about 3,000 tests per million population. USA is 1 per million Confused

China where it started might not be included in that though.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/03/2020 18:05

David Abel and his wife do a daily vlog and they have cv. In a hospital in japan, they were on the diamond princess. They seem quite well really.

Jrobhatch29 · 06/03/2020 18:14

Yeah they both got pnemonia but didnt need any treatment, and theyre in their 70s!

Roussette · 06/03/2020 18:16

Also I think we need to remember... France & Germany are both about 600 cases. We are way way down from that at 160. It does help that we're not a landlocked country perhaps?
(that isn't fact, that's me surmising)

Jrobhatch29 · 06/03/2020 18:18

Germany so far has no deaths as well. Mind i dont know whats going on in italy! Their numbers make me anxious!

Arcadia · 06/03/2020 18:24

Italy has the oldest population in the world alongside japan apparently which will skew their mortality figures. I'm also guessing if it's more rural areas affected there will be even higher concentration of older people.

Jrobhatch29 · 06/03/2020 18:31

Yeah, i think its been widespread there for a good while and was only detected once people started showing up needing intensive care! Hopefully there lock downs start slowing the numbers down soon x

unluckyagain · 06/03/2020 18:32

I know of someone who has been diagnosed after being taken to hospital. They have been quite ill but now recovering well.

Dennisreynoldsduster · 06/03/2020 18:39

@unluckyagain glad to hear they are recovering, were they young/old?

unluckyagain · 06/03/2020 18:41

I don't want to give too many details, but they had recently come back from a ski holiday.

For the pregnant ladies. Another healthy baby to a mam with mild symptoms x

Roussette · 06/03/2020 19:05

I think for Europe... Northern Italy has been a pressure point, so many cases from there

Layladylay234 · 06/03/2020 19:14

Hey all. Great posts to reassure us all. Keep up the good work.
My post today is one I saw on FB that I hope will make you laugh.
Ever since it was brought to my attention that you can say “Covid-19” to the tune of “Come on, Eileen,” I’ve been unable to read it any other way

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 06/03/2020 19:19

🤣🤣🤣....I will always read that word to the tune of come on Eileen from now on. Brilliant

PineappleDanish · 06/03/2020 19:24

I've just seen Joanna Lumley on the One Show talking about how she's not stressing and carrying on with sensible precautions.

Her voice is SO soothing and calming. Be more Joanna, folks.
