They said there was a plausible case to bring so evidence gathering is ongoing but it will take years before a judgement is decided.
Rather, she said, the purpose of the ruling was to declare that South Africa had a right to bring its case against Israel and that Palestinians had “plausible rights to protection from genocide” - rights which were at a real risk of irreparable damage.
What sticks out for me in your link is this paragraph:
Having decided that Palestinians in Gaza had plausible rights under the Genocide convention, it concluded that they were at real risk of irreparable damage - and Israel should take steps to prevent genocide from occurring while these critical issues remain in question.
This was 2024, genocidal rhetoric and actions have increased since then, all will form evidence for the case of genocide but that will be too late for the Palestinians. It was clear here that the court was ordering Israel to take steps to prevent genocide, that in itself is a shocking indictment of what they were doing and from many people's perspective they took no steps from here to prevent it.
