Thoughts to the victims, their families and the wider Jewish community in the UK.

The conflict in Gaza is nothing to do with Jewish people in the UK.

Police declare terrorist incident after two Jewish men stabbed in north London

The 45-year-old suspect has a history of serious violence and mental health issues, police say. They also say he attempted to stab officers while being arrested.

From your link
police recorded crime figures do not currently provide reliable trends in hate crime
but if we are to overlook that, they said
The CSEW estimated that 0.1% of adults were victims of a religiously motivated hate crime in the 12 months prior to interview. Muslim adults (0.8%) were the most likely to be a victim of religiously motivated hate crime, followed by Jewish adults (0.4%; Appendix Table 17).

Actual crime figures are likely to be under reported generally.

But overlooking that as you say, Muslim adults are only the most likely to be a victim of religiously motivated hate crime than Jewish adults because there are lots more Muslims in England and Wales than Jewish adults.

That's why it's better really to look at the statistics per 10,000 population. It shows the real picture which is that Jews are proportionally far more likely to be victims of religiously motivated hate crime.

So Jewish people are almost 9 times more likely to be the victim of a religious hate crime than Muslims are?

Wow.

Wow.

Yes and the number of antisemitic attacks against Jewish people seems to be increasing.

Our terrorism likelihood level has been raised to severe because of threats to one community Jews. It has to be said because of the tardiness of the government Jewish lives are under grave threat in the UK and it seems like we are just waiting for the next attack which is an appalling state to be in. For too long the government has prevaricated over whether chants such as 'globalise the intfada' is hate crime......no longer it is.

We have the green party openly putting up anti Semitic candidates in our communities which is a bleak prospect for all those against the hate that continues to spread. Enough is enough.

If Keir Starmer really cared about Jews' suffering he'd DO something

TWO British men are lying in hospital after being brutally stabbed simply for being Jewish, and the “thoughts and prayers” are now flowing thick and fast. Once again, Sir Keir Starmer, the Met Poli…

The suspect has a history of violence and MH problems. It could well be antisemitism but I’m not seeing any clear link to conflict in the middle east.

It IS antisemitism not “could be” antisemitism 🤦‍♀️🙄

Are you aware that we know the man had a history and that he attacked two people and we don’t know why? That it’s possible/likely that it was an antisemitic attack just as when someone attacks a group of Muslims it’s possible/likely it’s anti-Islamic but that does not necessarily mean it has anything to do with conflict in the Middle East?

I think it’s really frightening.

You are just choosing to be ignorant now

Gloriia · 02/05/2026 17:03

These attacks were abhorrent. Some people seem keen to think the rise in anti semitism is all the Israel's Government's fault.

I cba to find a link but some woman was on Jeremy Vine declaring that we should examine what is the cause behind the hatred. I don't get it at all, so her theory would surely be if folk ran around stabbing Muslims well it's because it is to get back at what Hamas & co are doing in the ME silly! Reprisals understandable Confused.

We don't <or should not> attack innocent people in this country to get back at conflict in others.

Emilesgran · 06/05/2026 06:44

For anyone who thinks that the fact that the man first attacked a fellow Muslim suggests that the other stabbings were not antisemitic, why did nobody apply the same logic to Adam Lanza who killed his own mother before going on to murder random children at Sandy Hook? Did the first targeted killing somehow make him NOT a school shooter?

Of course they didn’t. Yet again, there’s a different standard for anything to do with Jews.
(I can’t believe I didn’t really see this before Oct 7th)
