Thoughts to the victims, their families and the wider Jewish community in the UK.

The conflict in Gaza is nothing to do with Jewish people in the UK.

Police declare terrorist incident after two Jewish men stabbed in north London

The 45-year-old suspect has a history of serious violence and mental health issues, police say. They also say he attempted to stab officers while being arrested.

"It's just one after another," one member of a Jewish security group tells the BBC. "What's going on? How much more can we take?"

"Counter-terrorism police officers have a tried-and-tested system for assessing whether a violent incident counts as terrorism.

Put simply, they look at the initial evidence and work out whether the act of violence was carried out in an attempt to influence the government, or to intimidate the public, or a section of it, in order to advance a political, religious, racial or ideological cause. That is the legal definition of terrorism set out in our law."

It's sickening that Jewish people are being targeted like this. The government keep saying there's no place for antisemitism in our society yet they are doing nothing to stop it. My heart goes out to the victims and their families and all of the Jewish community.

Weeelokthen · 29/04/2026 17:17

Absolutely sick of these hateful scumbags, bringing hate to our streets, towns and cities.
Hope the guys are ok 🌸

Spongblobsparepants · 29/04/2026 17:25

Utterly sickening. Meanwhile, it was reported yesterday that the Iranian Embassy has been calling for regime supporters in the UK to martyr themselves. The ambassador has been summoned and the police are investigating.

If these antisemitic bastards have dual citizenship, I honestly believe they need to be deported - never mind their rights to family life etc.

Summoning of the Iranian Ambassador to the United Kingdom

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has today summoned the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Kingdom

Please respectfully suggest not putting this thread in this subsection of mumsnet before the 'but Gaza' crew arrive. This attack has nothing to do with the conflict in the ME. Antisemites will antisemite.

TomeTome · 29/04/2026 17:55

The suspect has a history of violence and MH problems. It could well be antisemitism but I’m not seeing any clear link to conflict in the middle east.

Twiglets1 · 29/04/2026 18:59

Just awful ... the UK need to do something to stop this antisemitic wave of hatred towards Jewish people.

He went to a predominantly Jewish area - Golders Green
the victims were wearing yarmulkes so visibly Jewish
what isn’t antisemitic about it ?

I think you misunderstood my post. I think it’s entirely possible it was antisemitism. Of course he could also just be having a MH crisis and be fixated on something else. The police said he had form for violence related to MH I think? We won’t know till it’s been investigated. Frightening for everyone concerned.

Are you being serious?
The perp walked past people dressed in a non Jewish way, and attacked only people dressed in traditional Jewish clothing. One had literally just placed his kippah on his head. Do you seriously think it is 'entirely possible' its not antisemitism? Why cast doubt? To what end?

TomeTome · 29/04/2026 19:49

The Green Party have a number of candidates that have previously posted anti semitic things, also one obnoxious candidate for the 'Green' Party said October 7th was 'revenge' those hateful individuals may become elected to parliament. What has this country become.

Are you aware that we know the man had a history and that he attacked two people and we don’t know why? That it’s possible/likely that it was an antisemitic attack just as when someone attacks a group of Muslims it’s possible/likely it’s anti-Islamic but that does not necessarily mean it has anything to do with conflict in the Middle East?

I think it’s really frightening.

https://www.itv.com/news/2026-04-29/video-shows-alleged-attacker-moments-after-first-golders-green-stabbing

In particular:

"Isaac Cohen, who was an eyewitness, told ITV News: "We tried to save people."

"We screamed 'be careful'," he said.

Cohen added that the alleged attacker appeared to be "looking for" Jewish people."

"The scene is around half a mile from a memorial wall where an attempted arson attack took place on Monday, and near where four Jewish community ambulances were destroyed by fire in late March."

I know - the Green party is tarnished by their candidates who have shown themselves to be antisemitic.

In the end, that will destroy their chances of becoming a party that could challenge Labour or Conservatives to become one of the main parties to run Britain, in my opinion.

Sadly, there are openly semitic people in that party and they gain support from useful idiots. There are threads in AIBU, quoting some of their posts.

Just read in the Telegraph that an Islamic group believed to have ties to the Iranian regime has taken credit on Telegram for the double stabbings.

Twiglets1 · 29/04/2026 20:18

Thats the link to the conflict in the Middle East.

Yes they have

"An Iran-linked group calling itself Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyya (HAYI) has claimed responsibility for a "terrorist attack" on April 29, 2026, where two Jewish men were stabbed in the London neighborhood of Golders Green."

It is. People still don't understand that the Jewish people in the UK are not responsible for Gaza. All that hate speech on marches, 'globalise the intifada' has resulted in increased hatred/antisemitism here in the UK. It emboldens supporters of terrorists to take action here. It doesn't help the people of Gaza of course. It does make innocent Jewish people here fearful. Its appalling and more action must be taken to protect the Jewish community.
