It’s eye opening.

I agree. One of these days Greta Thunberg will put her head above the parapet about Gaza or another of her causes and no doubt she’ll be asked for her views on Iran. I wonder what or if she will answer.
Same for all the other numerous celebs who have remained silent on this issue.

Equally, if there had been a revolt against right wing dictator such as Pinochet, I’m sure there would’ve been cheering from the usual suspects.

Have you seen who the Iranian protesters in Iran are blaming?

No I don’t use TikTok.

But I image not all protesters think the same way.

Most blame their leadership which is why they are shooting & executing them.

If you are on Xtwitter, Omid Djalili is very vocal
also John Cleese is retweeting lots of good accounts

Facebook is much quieter - especially all my Propal contacts

I‘ve seen Zarah Sultana and Owen Jones (of all people) being viciously attacked by David Miller on X for daring to criticise the Iranian regime. Utterly bonkers.

David Miller (@Tracking_Power) on X

Here is Zarah Sultana shilling for the Mossad, praising its terror plots across Iran in which armed Mossad operatives have killed many including a three year old girl and several police and volunteer security officers from the People's Guard.

I hadn‘t heard much about him until now tbh, and am just reading up on his behaviour that led to his dismissal from the University of Bristol.
What a charmer.

I just watched - there are large numbers of peaceful Iranian protesters protesting against the rioters.

I have also seen on the news that the Iranian PM has held a press conference in which he says that arrested rioters have said that they were paid to riot and cause damage and kill and money streams originating outside Iran have been checked.

He said that arrested rioters had said that they were told to use firearms at other protesters and at officials, and that this was because Trump wanted an excuse to attack, and that the messages and payment came from outside Iran.

He said they had proof, they have checked messages and have proof of these and payment streams etc.

He also said that ambulances and mosques were attacked and that it is unlikely that muslims would be doing this, whatever their political affiliations.

It gives a completely different picture from that being given by the BBC and so is worth watching.

I think the point is being made that whatever Iranians think of their leadership (I say that as we simply don't know), it is very, very unlikely that they would be asking the US for help, or burning mosques.

Yes, the Iranian regime is well know for its clemency towards peaceful anti-government protests, and its acceptance of alternative viewpoints.

Which bit is a load of rubbish - the bit about what the tiktok video says, or what the PM said?

If as the PM said Iran has proof, this will presumably be available on an international level.

It didn't say anything about clemency, so I am not sure what you mean?

I am not sure who you are talking about when you refer to peaceful protesters either. The peaceful protesters on tiktok were anti rioters protesters from the look of it.

No - we do know, actually.

There are a huge number of Iranian voices who speak out against the leadership and have been doing so, for YEARS.

Where have you been?

Of course - there are those who support the regime - but they are certainly not the majority in Iran.

Over 70% of Iranians want religion to be separate from the state.

it is very, very unlikely that they would be asking the US for help, or burning mosques.

Why is it unlikely they would be burning mosques?

Something like 40% of Iranians identify as Muslim. The rest are non-secular or non-Muslim.

Ooohhh, well if he said so then it must be true!
And even if the arrested protesters did say that, they couldn’t have possibly been pressured/ tortured into making these statements, oh no! 🤦‍♀️

And what if he provides the proof, what then?

I really think people should have a look at the tiktok video someone put up. It features very large crowds all saying things like Iranians are noble people who would not kill because of economic problems - not one or two, but quite a few and a lot of women and children, and the maker says it is across cities and that everyone risked safety issues to come out and say it.

I am not going to gratuitously blame anyone in particular because I don't have the evidence in front of me, but I am not sure Lindsey Graham is well known for being an archetypal "for the people" kinda person and so it does all seem a bit odd that he is out there telling people that "help is on its way". Perhaps I am being unfair, if anyone can link anything which suggests otherwise I would be happy to consider it.

Fucking lol.

Anyway - I did watch the video.

All it showed were pro-regime protesters blaming Israel and America. Just the usual rhetoric from the usual people.

These people are out demonstrating in support of an authoritarian, oppressive regime that is currently torturing young people and teenagers for daring to protest against it, and is due to start hanging those same young people and teenagers today.

Why don’t you think about that for a moment.

What you say about secularity is interesting - does the 40 percent and 70 percent come from Iranian sources or outside Iran sources?

explanationplease · 14/01/2026 13:29

My heart hurts for those poor young people. Their own brutal regime is to blame, but I don’t for one minute believe that the US can be trusted on the issue.
