I’m not questioning the existence of Israel. From that statement, I would say Iran isn’t either now. To me that sounds like a really pragmatic solution that Iran is calling for. If you don’t agree, please explain why.

@Twiglets1 , thanks for that quote. I hadn’t seen it before and it’s quite enlightening.

How do you envision that single state Iran is calling for?
Israel was founded to provide self-determination to the Jewish people. Do you think this will still be the case if they become a minority in their country?

Firstly this is a thread about Iran rather than Palestine. That said I appreciate that following the Gaza ceasefire you may be feeling at "a bit of a loose end".

Could I therefore suggest that you instead contribute your spare time to supporting the Iranian in their protests to overthrow their brutal theocratical dictatorship.

This.

There are numerous threads on Gaza and the Palestinians, maybe use one of them to air your views on Gaza/Israel.

I am not debating the existence of Israel with you or anyone else.

Me neither ... back to the topic of the thread.

BBC report today: Photos leaked to BBC show faces of hundreds killed in Iran's brutal protest crackdown

The pictures, which are too graphic to show without blurring, reveal the bloodied, swollen and bruised faces of at least 326 victims - including 18 women. The images, displayed in a south Tehran mortuary, are one of the only ways families have been able to identify their dead loved ones.

Many of the victims were too disfigured to be identified, and 69 people had been labelled in Persian as John or Jane Doe, suggesting their identity was unknown when the photo was taken. Only 28 of the victims had labels with clearly visible names in the photos.

Labels on more than 100 victims, who had their date of death recorded, showed that date as 9 January, one of the deadliest nights for protesters in Tehran so far.
The city's streets were set on fire during clashes with security forces, with protesters chanting slogans against the supreme leader and the Islamic Republic. It followed a call for nationwide protests from Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of the late shah.

The leaked photos provide a small snapshot of the thousands believed to have been killed at the hands of the Iranian state.

BBC Verify has been tracking the spread of protests across Iran since they erupted in late December, but the near total internet blackout imposed by the authorities has made it extremely difficult to document the scale of the government's violence against those who oppose it.

I was trying to keep this thread on Iran by discussing how they are no longer calling for the total destruction of Israel but I’ll answer your question. Have you ever heard of a movement called “A Land for All”. I think it is a beautiful solution which could work and I believe alleviates Jewish concerns for a Jewish homeland.

"The leaked photos provide a small snapshot of the thousands believed to have been killed at the hands of the Iranian state."

Will anyone ever know how many?

So little information coming out.

Well lets leave it that. The world knows the Islamic Republic is committed to the destruction of Israel. For some reason you don't believe them. I don't think there is anything we can do for you.

Back to the subject of the thread now? Which is protests in Iran against their evil regime. One of the consistent grievances being the regime's support for terrorism against Israel, diverting resources away from the people of Iran.

SharonEllis · 21/01/2026 08:38

@Twiglets1 @Ihatetomatoes its so important to keep the focus on the victims, thank you. The regime continues to try to pretend 'foreign' agents are responsible when its clear this is a genuine grassroots response to decades of brutality.

If Iran used its resources for its own people rather than for destruction of others....

If Iran allowed its people to have a say in the governance......

If Iran didn't repress women and other groups.....

If Iran wasn't run on extremist Islamic thinking.....

It could be a wonderful place. The regime need to go. However, it's incredibly hard for a repressed people against powerful leaders who control the military and police and have a Internet blockout.

You are deliberately cutting the line before 'Iran reiterates that the so-called two-state solution will not solve the Palestinian issue,”

You know full well that is calling for the end of Israel.

You know full well that the Islamic Republic is committed to the destruction of Israel and has been since its creation.

They know.
Might as well call for reunification of Pakistan with India ( they were formed within a year of each other), what could possibly go wrong?
Anyway, back to the thread.

"The latest figures by the widely-cited Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), which is based in the US, say more than 3,300 deaths have been confirmed, and over 4,300 others are being investigated.

The organisation also says 2,107 people have been severely wounded, and more than 24,000 arrested."

Most of those killed are young people in their 20's. Appalling slaughter of people who want better than their leaders allow them.

There are a lot of sources saying many, many more. Its hard to know who to trust. I don't think anyone with connections to the resistance think those numbers are anywhere close to accurate?

HappyFace2025 · 21/01/2026 08:57

A Land For All is an Israeli-Palestinian movement comprising Israeli Jews, Palestinian citizens of Israel, and Palestinians, which proposes a two-state confederation.

Once more for those at the back THIS THREAD IS ABOUT IRAN NOT ISRAEL/PALESTINE.

Radan, the chief of police, issued a 3 day ultimatum on Monday for the protestors to surrender and receive more lenient sentences. That expires tomorrow. He has stated that if they do not surrender by the deadline, they will effectively be hunted down. The USS Abraham Lincoln strike group is just days away in the Indian Ocean. It seems that tomorrow is going to be the day of reckoning. The revolution will either escalate to an even bigger second wave or it will fizzle out.

You know full well that the Islamic Republic is committed to the destruction of Israel and has been since its creation.

What you are saying is ridiculous rubbish and you know that because it has been explained to you many times on other threads. The conflict in Palestine came about because the British made conflicting promises to Arabs and under the Balfour agreement, neither the Balfour agreement nor the Mandate sought agreement with the Arabs (NB the area delineated as Palestine at that time was @95 percent Arab) and nothing that followed was done in agreement or cooperation - that is why fighting broke out and that is why fighting has continued to the present day.

The positions of the various Arab states has moved around in response to what has happened in the war in Palestine since then, over 100 years ago.

The governments in the Arab states or the "Islamic Republic" want to live in peace but at the same time is wary of geopolitical subtexts.

Agreeing a two state solution would be the way forward, it is for the international community to pressure both sides to achieve an equal solution.

ilikepotatties · 22/01/2026 15:02

HappyFace2025 · 20/01/2026 17:20

Hamas has never agreed to a two state solution. They want the whole of the current state of Israel. As Golda Meir stated many years ago "You cannot negotiate peace with someone who has come to kill you."

The 2017 Hamas charter refers effectively to a 2 state solution, along the lines of the 67 borders, according to wiki. They have also state willingness to discuss more recently. Iran voted in favour of a 2 state solution in 2024 in the UN.

Just click on the link I posted, it’s clear that she’s expressing her views.

Sorry I didn't click on our link because they sounded identical to Pier's. So, the comments still apply to her if her views are idential to Pier's. My comments can be read in the same way. It isn't about anti states, more about anti specific geopolitical policies

Thanks
