Conflict in the Middle East
TomeTome · 03/01/2026 23:17

I can’t read that but why are you celebrating people bombing other people.

mids2019 · 04/01/2026 03:21

I think having terror defeated is a good thing when you look at the savagery committed by Hamas and Isis. I think the UK has a common any enemy here.

ISIS are scum so yes, it’s good that the RAF are helping to defeat a common enemy.

mids2019 · 04/01/2026 06:51

It seems like no civilians were a killed and a lot of arms are now out the hands of terrorists. Sometimes I think we forget the angle in these conflicts that Hamas, Isis etc. are all heads of the same hydra. The removal of these death cults
Is in everyone's interests.

Apparently the area was uninhabited. It was weapons storage that was bombed, no lives lost

An ISIS occupied base which will bring terror on many people throughout the region.

No civilians on a terrorist base.

But hey ho carry on feeling concern for ISIS terrorists who would happily kill you. 🙄

Ihatetomatoes · 04/01/2026 09:56

Seems it was a joint strike with the French air force. Maybe they are fed up ISIS extremists too.

I expect they are. I think all the West should be getting fed up of extremists by now.

Will someone please think of the poor wittle terrorists?

But, actually, No people were killed terrorist or otherwise in the attack.

TomeTome · 04/01/2026 16:10

Most of us aren’t that keen on killing anyone. This isn’t a computer game. These are human beings you are celebrating killing.

You think of ISIS as ‘people’ do you?

I really feel like they’re not. I feel if you stone people to death, throw gay people off buildings, give women less rights than pet hamsters, you really have forfeited your right to be called ‘human’.

They are Isis, the same people who beheaded people, sold and raped young girls, executed christians, murdered yazidi, caged people and set fire to them (quite regularly). In Raqqa they crucified a young boy for breaking fast during Ramadan, I unfortunately came across a video published by a Raqqa based resistance group of shooting some poor middle aged woman in the head in the street for adultery. I remember a video of Isis members sitting around waiting for their turn at raping a girl, laughing and joking while you could hear her screaming in the background. Not a single one of the, thought they were doing anything wrong.

They are trash, couldn’t give a shiny shit if they get bombed. There are some people you cannot negotiate with.

I mean, obviously they are people, but in any case it’s their weapons that have been targeted on this occasion. So pretty good news I’d say.

TomeTome · 04/01/2026 16:19

It’s much easier to live your life if you start from a position that all people are equal, and killing them is wrong. If only someone we respected and trusted had written down a basic set of rules about how to behave, then even if we really lost our way we could think about why these things were held to be so important.

Maybe preach to ISIS then, instead of people who want the world to be peaceful.

Anyway, I’m very happy to see something being done and I hope they’re wiped out eventually. They’re evil and terrorise people for the slightest infraction, it’s a death cult. Taliban’s Afghanistan looks like a functioning country in comparison to the world these ‘people’ want.

TomeTome · 04/01/2026 16:34

It’s fairly mainstream thinking to be honest @Playingvideogames . How threatened you feel is probably partly based on where you live, where is that?

Are you saying you are only interested in hearing from people who think the same as you? Is an internet forum the best place to find that?

if there was another way that didn’t involve killing would you rather do that, or is “wiping out” your preferred course of action?

Twiglets1 · 04/01/2026 16:44

ISIS are scum, so are Hamas and other terrorists and the world would be a better place without them.

Couldn't care less what terrorist sympathisers feel about that.

If you think we should be ‘interested in hearing from ISIS’ you need to be investigated IMO

This.

Privilege.

Bringemout · 04/01/2026 19:10

Yes we all have the utter privilege of not having been born in any of these places. The vast majority of mumsnet would be dead or a slave under their system. An isis couple in Germany were prosecuted for tying up a five year old girl and leaving her in their courtyard to die of dehydration. Because they see anyone who’s not them as literally nothing better than animals. They are supremacists. If these were white supremacists mumsnet doing exactly the same thing to non whites mumsnet would accurately be able to identify them as the dregs of humanity. Need to get it into everyones heads that supremacists are not always white or western.

I honestly don’t know what the hell is going on these days, so much sympathy for dictators, terrorists and general bastards. So little for their victims. I don’t really understand it, it’s like we are terrified of having a moral compass incase we look like we aren’t kind enough or civilised enough.

You could always go there, to the ISIS base, and ask to have a chit chat over a cup of tea. Let the professionals know how you get on.
