The government need to act on this. West Midlands police have more than enough man power to police a football match with at most 1000 away fans. I watched West Midlands politics today and there was a politician brazenly saying part of the reason for effectively banning the Tel Aviv fans was they there was 'a moral point about Gaza'. We cannot have local councillors, community leaders and MPs agitating for the anti Semitic ban of fans of one of Israel's premier football teams.

We have to face reality want know that a lot of local residents are anti Israel and have taken this opportunity for VIlla Park to become a no go area for Jews.

Let's hope the decision is overturned and quickly.

Parts of Birmingham 'can't be a no-go area for Jews', says Ed Miliband

The Energy Secretary said Britain 'cannot have a situation where any area is a no-go area for people of a particular religion or from a particular country'.

Thanks for this correction

Absolutely fair enough, hold my hands up happily. Read a headline figure completely incorrectly. Not deliberate at all. Will request it deleted as I cocked up abysmally.

It looks to me as though the argument that the ban on the Maccabi fans was only because of their supposed extreme and unusual violence, backed up by UEFA saying the fans shouldn’t travel, has fallen apart completely on this thread,

Which is as it should be. Because that argument is a falsehood. It’s rubbish. And very unpleasant.

A falsehood you say.

The Tel-Aviv derby has been cancelled TODAY by Israeli police because of the dangerous behaviour of both sets of supporters.
The police spokesperson said “Disorderly conduct, riots, object throwing, smoke grenades, fireworks, injured police officers, and damage to stadium infrastructure – this is not a football match, this is a serious public disturbance and violence.”

Come on though Birmingham, suck it up.

It Is hilarious timing. There’ll be a reason, concocted by those who desperately want WM Police’s decision to be deemed anti-semetic, why this ban is somehow different I’m sure.

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/10/2025 23:13

Chief Constable, who’d be one? The classic damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

This would be funny if it wasn’t so serious. Absolute thugs.

Here's a reality check for some of you who definitely need it...

Israelis should be welcome in Birmingham
mids2019 · 20/10/2025 05:26

This decision has to be looked at in context. If the fans were simply to aggressive fair enough but there are politicians openly admitting the fact the fans are Israeli is the reason for the ban. Also policing up to 1000 fans should not be a stretch for a large police force.

We look at the abuse Gal Gadot is getting while filming in the UK and we see a slow movement to make Israelis unwelcome in the UK and their safety unable to be guarenteed.

You just see what you want to see and no amount of factual information will dissuade you from that.

Then why did Tel Aviv police just refuse to do it?

AppleStrudel16 · 20/10/2025 08:17

Israelis are welcome in Birmingham.

BTW, last night the tel aviv derby was called off because Maccabi Tel Aviv fans were violent.

Oh I think they have enough on their plate at the moment what with a war and terrorists killing people. Their resources may be a tad stretched so policing a footie match probably not top of their agenda.

Anyway, back to Birmingham.

TigTails · 20/10/2025 08:21

Hopefully they cancel the game itself here too. If they can’t behave in their own country why should they be welcome here?

This. The pro pal MP has muddied the waters just a bit by bringing in genocide then quickly adding its the hooligans that are the problem.

Would be a huge shame for Villa, who would probably end up having to forfeit the match and hurt their chances of progression. Why should they be punished because the MTA fans can’t behave?

Fair enough, shame there’s no way round that? 🤷🏻‍♀️

If as you say the decision to ban the Macabi fans was due to football hooliganism and nothing to do with anti semitism then why didn't the West Midlands Police statement just say this?

Or are you suggesting that WMP somehow knew or had intelligence that there would be disruption and smoke flares being used at the Tel Aviv game

Or if the violence at the Ajax game was simply a case of football hooliganism as you suggest then why was the violence condemned as anti semetic by the Amsterdam Mayor, the Dutch Prime Minister and the Dutch King.

And lastly given this why are posters gleefully leaping on the recent Tel Aviv derby cancellation in order to use it to hide (and failing) their own anti semitism.

I just wish they would be honest and say that it's not safe having a 1000 plus Israeli fans arriving in Birmingham with a high Muslim local population.

Well, there is. The game can go ahead with the MTA fans banned.

That wouldn't be honest. The police said why the MTA fans were not allowed to attend, based on intelligence provided by UEFA. Do you want them to also say 'and it's definitely not because of all the Muslims in the area'? I think we all know how that would play out...

Just stop this. It's nonsense and it helps no one.

So now it’s antisemitic to point out that the fans who were banned for violence have been violent?
