The government need to act on this. West Midlands police have more than enough man power to police a football match with at most 1000 away fans. I watched West Midlands politics today and there was a politician brazenly saying part of the reason for effectively banning the Tel Aviv fans was they there was 'a moral point about Gaza'. We cannot have local councillors, community leaders and MPs agitating for the anti Semitic ban of fans of one of Israel's premier football teams.

We have to face reality want know that a lot of local residents are anti Israel and have taken this opportunity for VIlla Park to become a no go area for Jews.

Let's hope the decision is overturned and quickly.

Parts of Birmingham 'can't be a no-go area for Jews', says Ed Miliband

The Energy Secretary said Britain 'cannot have a situation where any area is a no-go area for people of a particular religion or from a particular country'.

This is pure fantasy...

It is. Have Jewish Aston Villa fans been banned? No. Obviously.

Let's see. I think it's going to be like Northern Ireland in due course. Sectarian violence that we haven't seen before on the mainland.

Comedycook · 19/10/2025 16:40

No of course not. Is anti-Islamic sentiment in the heads of those subjected to it?

I don't know why you keep asking me about Islamophobia? I haven't said anything about it nor have I minimised it unlike the various posters on here who constantly try to minimise anti Semitism.

Is it, though? Would appreciate your reply.

That’s absurd.

From whom? 6% of the population (I assume you mean Muslims, happy to be corrected if I’ve misunderstood you. If I haven’t, how is this 6% to rise up, exactly?)

SaratogaFilly · 19/10/2025 16:45

Why @MrsSkylerWhite? Stop being a bully.

In Birmingham they are the majority.

MaturingCheeseball · 19/10/2025 16:46

Is it right that a council should be able to decide that a group of people are not welcome within its confines?

Because this isn’t about a bunch of football hooligans duffing up a rival team, but the concern that there will be rioting and disorder on the streets because of supporters’ religion .

It really is a slippery slope.

Gloriia · 19/10/2025 16:47

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/10/2025 16:40

No. Because someone has just popped up and claimed the “reason given” (by whom? Certainly not the Chief Constable) that a cohort of fans, many of whom have been violent on many occasions, have a reputation for it, there for all to see from numerous credible sources, have been banned only because they are Israeli or Jewish, nothing whatsoever to do with a proven track record of just that. Demonstrably nonsense and illegal at that. As the police would be perfectly well aware.
Making up rubbish to suit your argument is just stupid. Hope you’d call it out too.

You just said you had nothing more ro say and the thread was ridiculous?
Now I'm 'making up rubbish' and it's 'stupid'.

Try to debate without the insults.

I tell you who is stupid Birmingham council, MPs, the police and anyone who sat around a table and said let's just ban the Jews no one will notice.

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/10/2025 16:47

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 19/10/2025 16:45

That’s absurd.

Why? Some posters claiming people have been banned purely because they are Jewish and it’s a purely anti-Semitic decision. No other reason at all, apparently. Read the thread, it’s actually there. Would that not include local Jewish residents/supporters, were that the truth?
Which it clearly isn’t.

I never once suggested it was in their heads.... honestly this is bizarre

The premise of the thread is bizarre. And round and round it goes.

SaratogaFilly · 19/10/2025 16:49

Absolutely @MaturingCheeseball and as seems to be the way nowadays, it’s the bullying thugs who get away with their atrocious behaviour! And that’s not MTV fans in this scenario.

No one has said that. Most have agreed there will no doubt be trouble makers, football attracts some. However rather than manage that as they do weekly in footie season they are using it as an excuse to ban Jews. The MP has a thing about alleged genocide so of course all Jews are complicit in his view.

FFS.

The council did not make the decision.

The police authority did. As it always does over football policing matters.

At least get the bloody basics right.

It’s absurd because Jewish Villa supporters are (a) unlikely to be recognisable as Jewish, and (b) do not represent an Israeli football team.

Haven’t RTFT but why are people so convinced of Maccabi fans’ thuggishness? The violence in Amsterdam doesn’t appear to have been their fault.

Are they really the Millwall of Israel? And are Millwall fans banned from other grounds?

You don’t follow football then I guess…

And not be violent thugs who have made racist chants AT THEIR OWN BLACK JEWISH PLAYER

Presumably it's another attempt to make the Jews the bad guys in any given scenario. Plus ca change.

Hoppinggreen · 19/10/2025 13:22

Absolutely, as long as they are clearly members of an organisation with far right (or any extremist) links.

Palestine Action are a proscribed terrorist organisation. Seem to get support on the marches though 🤔

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/10/2025 17:16

Actually, @Comedycook, thinking on SaratogaFilly’s post, just logged back on. Read through our interaction and she/he was right. It was inappropriate of me to ask you about anti-Islam sentiment and not the least relevant to your posts. I apologise wholeheartedly.

maudelovesharold · 19/10/2025 17:19

To ban all Israelis from a predominantly muslim area is antisemitism.

They’re not banning all Israelis from a predominantly Muslim area, they’re banning MTA football supporters from going to the match, because their reputation for violence, aimed at Muslims, is well known.

Let’s just flip it round. If a team from a Muslim country was playing a match in or near a predominantly Jewish area and its supporters had a reputation for violence and racism against Jewish people, would the Jewish residents feel comfortable that the supporters were to be allowed to wander round their area at will?

It’s the fact that they are violent racist thugs that has got the supporters banned, not that they are Israeli or Jewish.
