Has Trump's pressure worked?

So it looks like Hamas have agreed to free hostages! I guess being holed up in Gaza with no hope of winning does tend to sharpen even the most suicidal terrorist.

I start have agreed to ramp down their military campaign. I don't know if this news is enough to get the pro Palestinian loons to not go out protesting this weekend but it certainly is significant.

The question of disarming is the key one for Hamas and I wonder if Israel were premature in winding down military activity when they had already gained the concession of hostage release?.

Live updates: Trump tells Israel to stop bombing Gaza as Hamas agrees to release hostages

The US president says he believes Hamas is "ready for a lasting peace", as the group seeks further negotiations on his peace proposal.

Nothing has worked yet. Far too early to say.

It's good news but I imagine the radicalised in the UK wont be happy 😕 they'll be out shouting 'globalise the intifada' or similar happy clappy ditties, they enjoy sharing.

mids2019 · 04/10/2025 10:14

Sadly I agree.

It may be that a lot of pro Palestinian campaigners are silent because they are nursing the wounds of Hamas effective surrender and the establishment potentially of technocratic governance in Gaza.

If there is a tentative peace and the signs are looking hopeful what will all the mobs do with their 'stop the genocide ' badly painted signs?

The murder of Jews in Manchester the most holy day of the Jewish calender didn't stop them so will as actual peace?

The tone of this whole thread is grim.
Sneering at anyone who’s called for an end to mass civilian deaths. You can condemn Hamas without mocking those who want accountability and peace. The constant digs about “mobs”, “loons” and “nursing wounds” say far more about the posters here than about the people marching.

Please don’t spread hate or misinformation under the guise of political debate.

As if talking about Trump as if he’s some peace maker makes this thread even more weird. Not going to wash for any of us now. Trump isn’t in it for peace

Completely agree. Seems to be a theme for some posters.

I wonder if Israel were premature in winding down military activity when they had already gained the concession of hostage release?.

So the OP wants the protests to stop because of the tentative agreement but not the murder of civilians as that is too soon.
Right..

This thread is not in good faith. There is another one about the agreement that does not resort to the typical name calling and derogatory terms

I’ve seen a lot of discussion on other forums suggesting many pro Palestine demonstrators actually lend their support to Hamas and Hezbollah, especially via Kneecap etc. It will be interesting to see what those people do now. Not once have I ever seen them speak positively about releasing hostages and they were very quiet yesterday. Videos online do suggest some are being paid to attend demos. I believe there are different factions from just the ‘anti war’ people. Supporting terrorist groups is unforgivable. And deluded because I know exactly what Hamas would do with them.

They'll have to find another hobby, I'm sure Greta/kneecap/Bob Wanker Vylan are thinking up a bandwagon as we speak.

What will they do with their keffiyehs and flags though and what to do on a Sat afternoon if there isn't an intifada going on.

Like him or loathe him though but well done Trump on assisting and some progress being made.

Spot on, it's some bizarre sort of sneering. It's not normal.

Tbf it's just the same couple of posters with this strange style and wild imagination on all the threads regarding this topic.

Strange style and wild imagination?

Look, I'm as hopeful as the next person that the hostages will be released and the suffering of gazans may end when they have leaders in who put their welfare first. It's early days though.

Yep I do sneer at the likes of kneecap who waved terrorist flags and Vylan who said death to the IDf. And?

Normal is defined by your population of course.

World population is quite a few billion now, should we all think the same way? Evidence suggests otherwise.

Could we have verified evidence that

please. You are spreading hate and misinformation.

There’s something quite child-like, black/white about it all!

mids2019 · 04/10/2025 12:15

I think this is the point where we see the difference between those who want peace and those that seem to nurse a grievance against Israel.

It is just interesting at a point when it looks like Hamas are conceding there is silence from a lot of pro Palestine commentators. There was outrage at the 'genocide' but when the hostilities appear to be pausing there is no celebration from those who purport to support the Gazans when there may be less death and devastating.

There will be those (not all) who support the Palestinian 'resistance' that may be feeling this is a form of defeat. At a point where peace might be a prospect is there a fear that the (ex) Gaza - Israel conflict will no longer demand the attention of the world?

Yes, it's almost as if some posters will be disappointed that there won't be a platform to air their 'Israel are genociders' hate anymore. All very sad and quite depressing.

I am not. These views are rife on forums and YouTube. And ‘from the river to the sea’ was still being chanted on the demos that took place on the same day as the synagogue attack. It’s all there to see on YouTube

So because you’ve seen a few clips on YouTube, you’ve concluded that many pro-Palestine demonstrators support Hamas and Hezbollah? That’s a pretty big leap. The vast majority of people on those marches are calling for a ceasefire, an end to occupation, and the right for Palestinians to live freely- not supporting armed groups. Conflating humanitarian protest with extremism is exactly how legitimate calls for justice get silenced.

DontReinMeIn · 04/10/2025 14:08

I am very happy that the hostages are being released. I hope those who are still alive manage a full recovery and are fully supported.

I also hope that the people of Palestine are supported as they try to rebuild their country, and I hope Israel adheres to their side of the bargain and ceases military action.

Gloriia · 04/10/2025 14:09

It's good to see theres only a handful of keffiyeh wearers have turned out for today's pro pal protest in London. They must be being respectful following the recent terrorist attack on Jews.

Or maybe just bored that the situation is hopefully resolving so they've moved on. Hard to tell.

Do you honestly think that being anti genocide means you’re anti semitic?

Gosh! Equally, I do wonder what some posters would do with their time if they weren’t so busy justifying the deaths of tens of thousands of children.

Even if peace does come, it doesn’t erase what’s already happened- the sheer scale of atrocities can’t just be brushed aside. I just hope one day there’s real justice for what’s been done and that those responsible, Netanyahu, are properly held to account for war crimes.

I wouldn't celebrate just yet.

The fact is that there is a strange collaboration between far left liberals with progressive views on women's rights, gay issues, trans rights, abortion, structural racism etc etc on one hand and extreme Islamists on the other hand with opposite views on women being subordinate to men, violently anti gay, violently anti trans, anti abortion and overtly racist views on other religions.

The only thing unites these two seemingly polar opposite groups is vehement opposition to established Western values, the West itself and Western liberal capitalism.

The last two years has seen a lot of angry people, weekly protests, terrorist action against the British military and attacks on the police and lastly
open sympathy for such designated terrorist groups.

Just because the current conflict in Gaza may end it doesn't mean that these angry people or their hatred for the West, Western values and Western liberal capitalism will go away.

Instead given the violent actions of some of this grouping and a larger support for such actions, I fear that they will simply morph into more future Islamo-far left anti western terrorist attacks.

I’ve been on the CITME forum for months now and can confidently say yes, a lot of them genuinely do. I’ve been accused countless times of “hating Israel” or being “pro-Hamas”, simply for posting about the humanitarian crisis caused by Israel’s actions and the devastating numbers of children killed, wounded and orphaned.
