So it looks like Hamas have agreed to free hostages! I guess being holed up in Gaza with no hope of winning does tend to sharpen even the most suicidal terrorist.

I start have agreed to ramp down their military campaign. I don't know if this news is enough to get the pro Palestinian loons to not go out protesting this weekend but it certainly is significant.

The question of disarming is the key one for Hamas and I wonder if Israel were premature in winding down military activity when they had already gained the concession of hostage release?.

Live updates: Trump tells Israel to stop bombing Gaza as Hamas agrees to release hostages

The US president says he believes Hamas is "ready for a lasting peace", as the group seeks further negotiations on his peace proposal.

I would like to join a march. I think most of the marchers are like me, just outraged by the genocide happening. I have friends who go and say it’s mostly peaceful protesters, people take their kids etc
I do think certain media and people fully in support of the Israeli government on this is trying to paint a picture of all marchers as anti semitic Hamas worshippers as of shutting the protests down and deflecting. I see that on these threads all the time too. If you are against the genocide, you are anti semitic, supporting Hamas…However, I have never joined a march as I just don’t want to march with any Hamas supporters even of only a small %. I live in London and I am going to see for myself one day.

If you join a march you will see plenty of Hamas support. You will hear 'globaluse the intifada '. You will see and hear people shout ed down if they mention Hamas. You will see support for a proscribed terrorist organisation. You will see anti semitism. You will hear chanting in support of terrorists. Go see for yourself and watch the people not challenge all of that. Go see the hatred and bile spouted in the UK.

I would not bet against a ceasefire being announced tomorrow and Trump getting the Nobel prize, if not this year then next.

Let's hope Trump has pulled a blinder.
🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

As if talking about Trump as if he’s some peace maker makes this thread even more weird. Not going to wash for any of us now. Trump isn’t in it for peace

It doesn't matter what Trump is 'in it for' if he and the mediating countries can put an end to the horrors faced by the people of Palestine and the Israeli hostages. He's done more to end this war than any other world leader and I hope he succeeds. Some people are going to hate Trump no matter what he does.

Too early to say, with those extreme right lunatics who are on the right of the Netanyahu camp, as reported everywhere.

Netanyahu has cross party support to endorse this deal even if a couple of the more extreme right wing members of his government aren’t in agreement with it.

@Twiglets1 there's still plenty of caution around.

Guardian “the devils in the detail”, or BBC saying it’s a significant moment but there are still plenty of details to be worked out “. We’ll see. I very much hope so.

Well the first part of your bet came true. However I think it is extremely unlikely that Trump will get the Nobel Peace Prize, not based on facts (because the reality is that he has been heavily involved in peace negotiations) but based on yhe emotion of the left leaning academics of the Nobel Committee who decide on who wins.

For them to choose Trump (a man they politically hate) would be unpalatable regardless of the facts. Interestingly Obama got the Nobel Prize in 2009 and openly admitted that he had no idea of why he was awarded it.

The war has not completely ended yet. It hasn’t even been agreed by his cabinet. Let’s not jump the gun proclaiming anyone as delivering peace just now.
