Conflict in the Middle East

It’s almost like we hold democratic governments or a higher standard then terrorists.

”Shin Bet, just as good as a Hamas’. Great tagline

Edited

Why, though?

Hamas are the Government of Gaza after all.

Why wouldn’t we hold ALL Governments to the same standards? Why shouldn’t we?

Especially when we expect Israel to engage in negotiations etc with them.

MissConductUS · 09/09/2025 18:59

You left out this bit:

"Today's action against the top terrorist chieftains of Hamas was a wholly independent Israeli operation. Israel initiated it, Israel conducted it, and Israel takes full responsibility," the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.

The US doesn't control Israeli military actions. Biden told them not to hit back against Iran after the missile attacks in 2024. They hit back anyway.

Even more reason not to approve it when they were going to do it anyway and save relations but that would involve foresight and calmness.

Wonder will they cancel the free plane?

I don't think the US "approved" it, I think they just didn't advise against it. It's not up to the US to tell them how to wage war.

SomeWomanSomewhere · 09/09/2025 19:17

Except: hostage families as well as liberal zionist US pressure group JStreet are livid. Opposition leader Yair Golan demands to know if this endangers the hostages. The GCC is circling the wagons. US soft-signalling it was not in a position to veto in time.

And Hamas claims all of the targets are alive and kicking. To be confirmed in due time.

Qatar denies that it was informed beforehand in direct contradiction to the White House.

This is a mess.

Well they are paying for it.

Our government in the UK have condemned the strike. Israel as usual always go rogue.

Is bombing another sovereign country not in violation of international law?

Qatar and anti Zionists will have to take this on the chin.
Especially since Qatari money has been funnelled into Anglo Western Academia in order to influence the remit within which our universities operate vis a vis acceptable notions pertaining to the Middle East.
And also the fact that Qatar launders Hamas' money and hosts all strata of its operatives.
Qatar is trying to gain respect by flashing coin around Western run institutions and seeing which greedy, non ethical paws will grab onto the money.
It got the World Cup and LGBT were sold out.
But not everybody has a short memory vis a vis Qatar and if her leaders ever make the mistake of OFFICIALLY complaining about the fact that Israel has to fight this war in many countries......all Qatari dirty laundry over the last twenty four years will be laid bare.

And a LOT of Western sell outs of all political persuasions will suffer for their corruption.

That includes the UN, too.
Hamas is supported by Iran and Qatar in fundamental ways.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 09/09/2025 19:38

Genuine question, not to inflame anything.

Why is israel being allowed to do this? Are they a super wealthy country, are the UK and US in debt to them?

Aren't Qatar super rich? Surely you wouldn't want to fuck with them?

Kakeandkake · 09/09/2025 19:40

Who would have thought?

Reading a statement, she says the White House was notified ahead of the attack.
She then condemns the Israeli strike, panning Israel for “unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a sovereign nation and close ally of the United States that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker peace.”
“It does not advance Israel’s or America’s goals,” she says.

Everexpanding · 09/09/2025 19:40

“Hamas had said on Sunday that it was ready to “immediately sit at the negotiating table” after what it described as “some ideas from the American side aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement”.

Israel blows up the table

Anothercoffeeafter3 · 09/09/2025 19:49

Hopefully this means Qatar has support of the Arab world to put a stop to Israeli attacks and occupation of Palestine. Maybe it’s time Israel and Palestine was governed by a neutral state for the good of everyone not the dominance of a religion or ethnic group.

Never mind that they're harboring terrorists.

So is an attack on and the.slaughter of helpless civilians. So is the kidnapping of surviving civilians who are kept in dire conditions. International law did not stop Hamas. Why should it stop Israel?
I have dreadful fears.of how far this war will go in the end.

Your first two sentences apply to both Hamas and the Israeli government.

It is frightening how much further it will go.

Well they are paying for it.

Money well spent to defend the only genuine democracy in the Middle East.

As to the diplomatic blow back, Golda Meir once said “If we have to have a choice between being dead and pitied, and being alive with a bad image, we’d rather be alive and have the bad image,”

Guavafish1 · 09/09/2025 20:28

Crazy … US and Israel doing what it likes all over the world.

breaking international law… imagine Russia and China doing the same?

Do you really think that after dragging out negotiations for over a year, that Hamas was ready to return the hostages? Note that all they committed to was "sitting at the negotiating table", not reach an agreement for even a ceasefire?

Dangermoos · 09/09/2025 20:51

Vivi0 · 09/09/2025 18:34

You know what else was in violation of international law? 7/10.

Israel take out the organisers of 7/10 and the response is “but, but, but International Law”.

It’s beyond a joke at this point.

You've got to be some kind of sick to mourn for the loss of terrorists. Good riddance @mids2019 job well done.

You think Qatar is neutral and wants peace for Palestinians? Very naive.

BreakingBroken · 09/09/2025 21:14

the cowardly hamas leadership have hidden themselves away while the palastinian people die in gaza.
qatar obviously know they are harboring these men and know they are potential targets and choose to let their citizens live at risk in exchange for?? somewhere money is involved.
really this shows that no matter where you are on this planet (and equally off the planet) people (governments or otherwise) can and will find you.
the sooner politicians of all stripes begin to care for their populace in a genuine and helpful manner the sooner the killing (of legitimate targets) will stop.

I feel for the hostages and their families though. Certain now that no return will take place unless Israel can be bypassed in any negotiations.

I don't think anyone is mourning terrorists - just questioning methods and implications of such.
