No we dont know that the IDF have 'directly killed' 60k people. We dont know how many of those were actually killed by Hamas and of course many are completely legitimate targets if they are Hamas. We know the figure of Gazans killed, as issued by the Hamas health ministry.

Strange you dispute it when even Israel accepts the figures. These 60k are verified violent deaths. When they include the dead under the rubble and bodies that are unrecoverable (because 85,000 tons of explosives has that effect), they estimate the real death toll of violent deaths is actually as high as 90,000 with over half being women and children. This does not include indirect deaths caused by the aid embargo like people not being able to access vital medical care or requiring food and water to live (strange that). A good tip for disputing facts is to provide links to where you get your information from.

Has the weeping Welsh man gone this time?

I think he might be a mumsnetter. Has the march to Gaza left Egypt yet? I haven't been watching.

They were unceremoniously bundled out of the country by the Egyptian police and assorted heavies. It was quite amusing.

I assumed at least some of them would have found their way onto the current flotilla - professional activists that they are.

KoalaKoKo · 07/09/2025 10:13

If anyone wants to follow the flotilla’s journey they post about it here:

https://globalsumudflotilla.org/

They have asked people to be careful about what they share and check it against their site as there is a lot of misinformation doing the rounds - one is from people falsely claiming there are only 3 ships left and the other is people using AI images that show a massive fleet of ships which is also not accurate.

From their website it looks like there are currently 22 boats with crew from 44 countries sailing.

So Israel agrees that all those 60k people were 'directly' killed by them? What is their estimate of how many have been killed by Hamas then?

Your link doesn't say who killed the people in the figures - a proportion will have been killed by Hamas, nor does it say that Israel accepts the figures, nor does it give a civilian/fighter breakdown. But a useful article. Thanks for the link.

Argh. Let Greta et al land in Gaza. Let them distribute their symbolic aid with Hamas to help. Good luck to them.

Whether you agree or disagree Israel will not let a flotilla of who knows who with who knows what to just float into Gaza.

what on earth (logically) do you think will happen when they get there? And Israel can’t win as they will be expected to protect them as they will carry individually a massive price on their heads (with Greta’s the biggest)

Do you know how much they were carrying last time? Those boats are tiny and fairly full of people. After they are all fed and watered it will be negligible. And Hamas will Just let them leave again? It’s the epitome of white saviour complex.

They have been warned.

Perhaps she is hoping to recreate Jesus's miracle with the seven loaves of bread and a few small fish.

Whatever happens to her, I'm sure she will be excited by the drama of it all.

Every single person on that boat is secretly hoping to be, and counting on being rescued by Israel.

When they do indeed get rescued by Israel, they'll bitch and moan about it, while knowing full well theyre grateful not to be stuck in Gaza.

I dont know how Jewish people dont lose their minds over the hypocrisy.

Maybe this time she will at least have the decency to watch the film. But I doubt it.

Please show us the evidence! 85000 tons of explosives is 6x the amount used in Hiroshima - more than the bombing of Dresden and London combined. The IDF have directly killed over 60,000 people which includes over 20,000 children. You think that is safe???

I suggest you do a search on the total number of deaths in hiromshima and Dreasden and that will clearly give you ample evidence of how unbelievably controlled the IDF counter attack into Gaza has been. Find the facts and do much better. I repeat, war’s are horrible but if terrorists start one I hope the right side will finish it.

Dangermoos · 08/09/2025 08:20

She's at it again then. Who would have thought one could make a living from being a moral crusader. Christopher Columbus, she is not.

You think this level of murder is restraint - at least 20,000 dead children. Imagine they were Israeli children, how would you feel then? Do you think Palestinians are less deserving of life, of human rights, than Israelis? Have you watched any of the interviews with Palestinians, with the little children missing limbs. I suggest looking at Ms Rachel’s instagram - she regularly interviews the little kids and families injured in Gaza.

This did not start on October 7th! Israel has been murdering and displacing Palestinians every year since it was founded. Trauma actually stops the brain developing like normal so if someone bombs your town for months, steals your home, murders your parents or siblings - you are much more likely to join a terrorist organisation like Hamas. Israel recruits for Hamas through the murder and displacement of the Palestinian population.

There are numerous documentaries on streaming sites like Netflix that follow the lives of Palestinians before October 7th - there is also a documentary called Tantura on Amazon Prime which goes right back to the founding of Israel in 1948 and shows how it started with murder, displacement and rape. There are countless documentaries on settlers at the moment where settlers express the desire to wipe out and replace the native population - obviously the famous one called The Settlers. There is an amazing guy who documents the violence of the settlers on instagram “Sam_Avraham” have a look at some of his videos! Let me reiterate, this did not start on October 7th.

Better than some who spend all day every day on the internet defending a genocide and stating that the murder of 60k+ people is okay!

Indeed. Let them land, give out morsels, take selfies. Stay there.

Meanwhile, Hamas need to go and the hostages need releasing. New government needs to be then established with the interests of Gazans rather than self interests and promoting hatred.

Beachtastic · 08/09/2025 09:18

KoalaKoKo · 06/09/2025 18:34

The IDF have dropped over 85,000 tons of explosives on Gaza - the equivalent of 6 Hiroshimas - but a few humanitarians on sail boats with baby formula is the real danger.

Stop with the ridiculous propaganda - the weapons making their way into Gaza are the ones being yielded by the terrorists in the IDF. Israel has NO right to attack boats in international waters, to abduct people - they have NO right to any Palestinian land or water.

Hamas have invested a billion dollars over the past 20-odd years in building a sophisticated infrastructure from which to destroy Israel, including an elaborate network of ~400 miles of underground tunnels. Israel, naturally, has focused on destroying this infrastructure. Demolishing underground tunnels obviously requires more force than bombing a building. The fact that Israel have managed to target Hamas's nest of evil without killing more than about 3% of Gazans, over 2 years, in such a high-density population, makes your comparison with Hiroshima ridiculous.

You will find the evidence that confirms your bias.

‘This is a VERY complicated war’

The Arab-Israeli conflict is one of the most complex and protracted conflicts in modern history. It involves deep-rooted historical grievances, religious significance, competing nationalisms, geopolitical interests, and ongoing cycles of violence and diplomacy’

There are NO simple answers to resolve it, BUT, it is imperative that ALL nations support Israel in removing the leadership of Gaza, Hamas which is a recognised terrorist group, to that end, the the Palestian people may have a chance to regroup and form a peaceful governing body.
All we have is hope! 🕊️

This.

Hamas to be gone. Hostages released. Conflict ended.

New peace seeking governments for both Gaza and Israel. A new way.

1dayatatime · 08/09/2025 12:02

I was thinking about this and surely the least confrontational and easiest solution here is to simply allow the flotilla into Gaza and then not allow them to leave.

They can then fully understand the situation in Gaza, what it is like to live there and what life under a Hamas Government means.

I'm sure that people like "Ted" will find the experience truly enlightening:
