You lot do realise that internationals have travelled to Gaza for literal decades, right? Pre-Oslo, under the PA, under Hamas? And that there has just never been any sustained pattern of them being targeted by any Palestinian factions.

Since the 2000s, a total of three foreigners have been killed by Palestinians in the oPt: two were international observers to Hebron and killed in a shooting around a bypass (settler only) road (unclear which faction if any). The third was an Italian journalist and activist, kidnapped and killed in the Gaza Strip in 2010 by some ISIS-affiliated group; this was roundly condemned by all Palestinian factions.

In other words: those are fewer than Israel killed in the WCK strike alone.

Admittedly, I do find the fantasies on this thread re. the heroic IDF rescuing Europeans illuminating - just not quite in the way you probably think: it tells me people have very little actual idea of what these places are actually like, what's safe, what isn't, what the real risks are, etc.

And I'm saying this as someone who has spent ample time in both Israel and the West Bank (and once, very briefly, Gaza).

I was going to say this. There is this idea that Hamas are just waiting to capture anyone that enters Gaza but there is nothing to show that this happens. Medics have been entering Gaza throughout this whole conflict without being taken hostage. The WCK staff who were killed by Israel were international aid workers, they were not held hostage by Hamas, they were killed by the people that posters here think are some kind of protectors?!

What you are saying doesn't align with the reality of what we are seeing.

All of this sink their ships, lock them up indefinitely, trap them in Gaza etc, it is all an extreme reaction to people who are well within the law to do what they are doing. The anger that these people bring about in some is very noticeable in comparison to the level of anger that Israeli attacks on aid workers, Israeli settler attacks, Israeli forced starvation, Israel torture and sexual assault etc seem to cause in the same people. I really hope that this is all studied in years to come because it's fascinating watching the reaction to shops closing, actors speaking up, banners at football matches etc vs actual atrocities.

The main boat “Family” has been hit by a drone as it was anchored in Tunis port. Complete violation of international law and an invasion in another country’s waters. Apparently all the crew have been safely evacuated.

Insane sense of impunity. Former attacks all took place in international waters. This, however, is Tunisian territorial waters.

More lies from the pro-Palestinians.

“Tunisian authorities have denied claims that one of the Gaza-bound vessels carrying aid and pro-Palestinian activists including Greta Thunberg was attacked by a drone.”

Tunisia's National Guard spokesman told Mosaique FM radio that reports of a drone attack on the flotilla "have no basis in truth", Reuters reported.
He added that an initial inspection indicated the explosion originated inside the vessel.

Twiglets1 · 09/09/2025 06:34

Also being reported by the BBC that the Tunisian authorities are denying that Greta’s futilla was hit by a drone.

SharonEllis · 09/09/2025 06:48

AFP reports that the fire in one of the boats of the futilla came from inside the bost.

"According to preliminary findings, a fire broke out in the life jackets on board a ship anchored 50 miles from the port of Sidi Bou Said, which had come from Spain,” national guard spokesman Houcem Eddine Jebabli tells AFP.
“The investigation is ongoing and no drone has been detected,” he adds.

The suggestion is it might have been started by a cigarette.

Correct - but not, as claimed by various posters, because foreigners might need rescuing by the IDF or need protecting from Palestinians.

My point is simply: people seem to be constructing their own little fantasy realities about stuff that just ... demonstrably isn't true.

😬 its a war zone. Its desperately unsafe. Even for those who know their way around.

Who'd you rather be rescued by, Hamas or the IDF?

The absolute dissonace of your last paragraph while Hamas have held hostages for the last few years.... of all nationalities. Unbelievable.

1dayatatime · 09/09/2025 07:24

Do the "authorities" really expect us to believe that this fire on the flotilla main vessel was caused by a dropped cigarette . It was almost certainly caused by an Israeli trained suicide bombing seagull (possibly chain smoking - still unclear about that).

Attached photo of Israeli trained suicide seagulls:

Anyone who disagrees with this theory is a genocide, apartheid supporting fascist.

With such highly trained seagulls, its obvious they could have taken out each member of Hamas with precision controlled strikes.

sittingonabeach · 09/09/2025 07:32

@dairydebris I don’t know whether being rescued either by Hamas or IDF would be great, both have carried out atrocities

Do you that the cctv video of the fireball dropping from the sky was doctored then?

There are differing accounts. Yours contradicts the Tunisian authorities and report of an AFP reporter who was on the scene. Do you have verified sources?

Absolutely. I thought the place needed more dangermoos, to balance out the echo effect.

Im talking about the CCTV video that was posted on the flotillas Instagram account that shows a fireball falling from the sky onto the ship.

Well that goes back to your statement about virtue signallers creating more shit. The sheer arrogance of their insistence that they can do what nobody else has thought of. I can't begin to describe my loathing of these kind of narcissistic tossers. They are doing it for nobody but themselves.

I don't think that's a verified source by any normal journalistic standards.

GladioliGreen · 09/09/2025 08:20

This is what Maltese authorities said the last time the flotilla claimed they were attacked by drones.

Maltese authorities have released the long-delayed Marine Casualty Damage Report for the Conscience. These findings confirm key facts that the FFC has asserted from the beginning:

  • The vessel was subject to two aerial attacks.
  • There was no internal explosion that occurred; all damage resulted from external impacts.
  • The fire onboard was directly caused by the aerial strikes on the upper deck, which triggered cascading structural failures.
  • No high-risk or flammable substances were found inside the vessel that could have caused or contributed to an internal explosion.
  • There were no weapons onboard.
  • There was humanitarian aid onboard, though the report does not quantify it.
Dangermoos · 09/09/2025 08:20

Looks like the Sumud didn't live up to its name. Not much resilience being shown by the boat and its dopey crew. More gimmicks. I think I'd trust the national guards' word over a bunch of fag lighting attention seekers.

PiggyPigalle · 09/09/2025 08:45

I wonder why GT is so concerned about Gaza, when there's a war raging so close to her home country.

PaxAeterna · 09/09/2025 08:49

Oh I hope it was an accident and not a drone and that everyone stays safe.

One of my former colleagues is there, truly one of the world’s good people.
