Sharon we see that they cannot do this because you never did endorse or defend the starvation of children.

I am still waiting for that poster to tell us her interpretation of river till the sea. For one of the many calling genocide, you would think she would be as focused on preventing genocide part 2.

I’m not particularly fond of that saying, so

I'm going to take a wild guess that you will never hear back from that poster re her interpretation of river to the sea.

Vivi0 · 23/08/2025 17:11

But she hasn’t said anything that isn’t true.

That sort of thing does happen in war.

I don’t understand the relevance of a person’s opinion that this conflict isn’t a genocide. Is that meant to prove something?

Are you not the one who accused me of defending Hamas for asking for a source? Funny how it only works in your favour

My interpretation is that it’s a slogan that calls for violence - which is the exact opposite of what should be called for. Sorry to disappoint

Care to explain in more depth? Violence committed by whom and against whom?

Define violence, if you will.

Why? I’ve condemned it and said I don’t agree with it. Is that not enough for you?

funnily enough, human beings are more than just black and white. I can disagree with proposed violence against Israel, while also disagreeing with what Israel is doing in Palestine.

No I would like someone to explain it to me because no one ever wants to for some reason?

Sorry, you’ve completely lost me.

You did ask me for a source for Hamas’ war crimes.

It’s as ridiculous as asking for a source on ISIS’ war crimes.

Not sure what works in my favour?

PinkBobby · 23/08/2025 17:23

Twiglets1 · 23/08/2025 16:29

Come on @PinkBobby

If you need more than 7/10 to get outraged by the actions of Hamas then there’s something wrong with how you are processing their behaviour.

I think I have been misunderstood.

I am totally outraged by 7/10 and I am sure that more crimes committed by Hamas will come to light once more journalism/analysis is possible within Gaza. I’m not for a moment implying Hamas haven’t done enough already to warrant outrage or disgust or that I’m not sure if they’re terrorists or not. Clearly they are.

My point is that crimes committed by Israeli politicians or soldiers are in the spotlight right now but that doesn’t mean Hamas aren’t also committing horrendous crimes behind closed doors that we will eventually hear about (alongside what we already know). And those should be investigated too when possible. In summary, both sides have parties committing atrocities and, in my opinion, Hamas’s crimes in this conflict aren’t fully visible yet. Israel’s are more visible in the sense that they have flattened Gaza and stopped, limited aid and the rhetoric some politicians are using.

Twiglets1 · 23/08/2025 17:21

Explain what?

it’s quite simple. The slogan calls for the state of Palestine to exist from the Jordanian valley (‘the river’) to what I believe to be the Mediterranean Sea (‘the sea’, and my geography is awful so it may not be the Mediterranean). That would involve the destruction of Israel, which I obviously do not agree with. The same way I don’t agree with Israel completely destroying Gaza and slowly stealing the West Bank from its citizens.

I really didn’t accuse you of defending Hamas.

I simply asked you if you believed Hamas are carrying out war crimes in Gaza.

You can go back and check. I did.

I took issue with being called a genocide defender. Naturally.

I’m not getting upset about anything.

And I said yes. But that doesn’t change the fact that Israel are also committing war crimes and this is a thread about that.

I don’t know why you require clarification or, frankly, why you feel entitled to it. Surely someone saying they don’t agree is enough?

Thank you and I appreciate that you do not personally like that slogan or agree with the sentiment.

I really do find it hard to understand how some people see others chanting the political slogan From the river to the sea.... and don't feel disgusted that they are calling for the destruction of Israel at their (sometimes "family friendly") demonstrations.

I do feel disgusted. But I can’t do anything about it at the end of the day, can I?

No you can't.

My second paragraph was a more general observation and not aimed at you.
