Why is the BBC playing Hamas propaganda as fact?

We know the photo of the emaciated child was misleading - he had cancer, he wasn't being starved.

Images of adults - especially men - show there is no lack of food expect where Hamas is hoarding it.

The death / injury figures have been outright lies.

israel is providing food an area that's run by people who want to destroy them - and where the death of Jewish hostages including babies was applauded.

It's awful for both sides. Why is the BBC behaving like this wasn't kicked off my murderous Islamist psychopaths who want to see every Jew removed from the Middle East?

@dangermooI'll survive. I'm sick to death with the propaganda and lack of thinking on here.

No. It’s the people of Gaza who are sick to death.

Dangermoo · 27/07/2025 23:08

MrsSkylerWhite · 27/07/2025 23:06

For good reason, probably. If everyone thinks you’re wrong, just maybe you ought to listen?

One deleted post and the thread's only just started. I doubt there will be much listening, going on.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 27/07/2025 23:09

Happy to say it out loud @TooBigForMyBootsthis is not a genocide. It's a country reacting to terrorists (holding hostages) that want to see it destroyed

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 27/07/2025 23:11

That was my point and always on the same threads. My bedtime, but I will be surprised if the thread survives the night.

I hope you’re correct because its premise is BS.

That photograph though? What mother wraps her child in a fucking bin bag when she's got a scarf on her head?

Dangermoo · 27/07/2025 23:02

Why, do people need your permission to start a thread?

Where did I say they did ?

TheGrimSmile · 27/07/2025 23:22

Why don't they let journalists in, OP? You know why!

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 27/07/2025 23:23

Well quite @Redrosesposiesi never thought of that

@TheGrimSmileand yet there's so much "reporting" coming out of Gaza, mostly parroting Hamas

I assume the bin bag is used as a nappy. Maybe they could use a nappy if Israel let aid in

Hello all. We understand that on this topic, emotions are high, and we appreciate that many posters feel very strongly about what’s been said. But this is a discussion forum, not a place to shout others down. If you believe a post is inaccurate, you’re welcome to say so on the thread but you need to make your case without resorting to insults or personal attacks. Arguing with facts and clarity is what strengthens a position and resorting to abuse just undermines it.

Mumsnet is a site for grown-ups. That means you’re going to see posts you strongly disagree with. You may even find some of them offensive. It’s up to you decide whether to engage, to challenge constructively, or to scroll past. If you can’t do that without breaking our rules, this isn’t the place for you.

We’ll remove posts that break our rules and ban those who repeatedly show they can’t engage within them. If you see something that crosses a line, report it but please don’t assume it gives you licence to launch a pile-on in return.

Thanks.

They are 'parroting' Drs and aid organisations which is far better than 'parroting' Israel. Israel have been deemed a national security threat in the Netherlands by their counter terrorism agency as their efforts to spread disinformation and influence public opinion are so insideous. How anyone could deem them reliable narrators is beyond me.

The same child appears on the cover of the New York Times with a nappy on, so seemingly the photographers decided to swap it for a bin bag.

TooBigForMyBoots · 28/07/2025 11:43

"Granny, you were alive then. How come the world sat by when the the people of Gaza were being exterminated?"

"Well pet, I thought it was all lies and would tell people to stop believing the reports."

WhereYouLeftIt · 28/07/2025 12:18

I have uploaded two photographs . The first was one of the photos used by the Daily Express. The second claims to have been taken at the same time, showing the boy's brother in the background. A couple of news outlets have mentioned in passing that the emaciated child has cerebral palsy / a muscle-wasting disease.

The point I am trying to make is - I don't know what to believe. But - I don't think I can believe the newspaper and TV reports.

Maybe my faith in the truthfulness of newspapers has been shaken by their past reporting (and non-reporting) of the entirely separate issues of transgender issues. Maybe I've seen too many pictures claiming to have been taken in Gaza yesterday that then turn out to have been taken in Yemen years ago. Maybe I'm just sceptical of the idea that Hamas does not completely control what words and images are allowed to emerge from Gaza. Maybe I think the endless 'Free Palestine' marches and demonstrations in the UK and the rest of Europe have had their intended effect on politicians. Maybe it's all of the above.

But to get back to the title of this thread - "Why is the BBC playing Hamas propaganda as fact?" - I don't know. But I do think that is what is happening.

my friends in Isreal don't deserve to live in fair of Muslim terrorists

And my son in law didn’t deserve to lose over 20 of his relatives who have been murdered in Gaza, or have his family home forcibly taken by illegal settlers in the West Bank.

Sick children are starving too. The effects of starvation on children with chronic conditions is horrifying.

Echobelly · 28/07/2025 12:33

Op, if you think this kind of attitude helps Israel or fights antisemitism, you're kidding yourself.

As a Jew it makes me want to scream that so many of us, at least the most vocal ones, think that decrying facts reported by multiple sources are just Hamas propaganda, or that criticism has to be antisemitism, not the fact that Israel is an ally who the UK aided and abetted in all of this.

The way to support a future for Israel is to call this out and make it clear that this is wrong and it does not have to be this way. Otherwise what are we saying? That it's necessary for Israel to be this murderous and cruel in order to exist?

The way to combat antisemitism is to show that Jews will not tolerate what Israel is doing and that we are moral people who feel the suffering of others.
