Conflict in the Middle East

Map of Palestine land, according to this most is controlled by Isreal, and if people want to travel approval is needed

This short came up when I was watching other things - if the information in this short is true, which, looking at the comments, it seems to be, it is just incredibly sad. We really need a proper two state solution negotiated under which the Palestinian land is controlled by a Palestinian government - and an equal and fair split of land. Looking at how the dispute started after the Balfour Agreement and the Mandate for Palestine, the world really should do the moral thing, step in and get negotiations started. Trying to help the situation Gaza is like applying an inadequate sticking plaster - if with goodwill and political pressure an agreement for two states is agreed then the problems Israel fears go away, and Palestine can start to rebuild. Most of the Arab world will support a two state solution now.

I refer to "moral" thing to do because the likes of Charlie Kirk - who is in a position of influence - keep raising the "moral" question but missing the point. The issue isn't just moral - it is necessary for civilisation and prosperity that we agree a two state solution as soon as possible.

You know its 2025 now right?

So history has no part to play in any of the issues today? Wow! 🤦‍♀️

Anonimummy · 14/07/2025 16:53

Still deflecting from my earlier post I see, which contained my reference to Churchill’s comment due to my assertion that the majority of Arabs in the region had no more right to the land in the region of Palestine than the newly emigrated Jewish people.

Maybe you could just answer the questions in my post instead of ignoring them and wittering on.

I have no interest in reading or watching your links as I’ve watched and read quite enough pro Palestinian drivel over the last 21 months thanks, especially stuff like this:

What we know of Arab Palestinians is that they had lived there for 100s of years and were slowly booted off, uprooted, and thrown out into Lebanon or pushed into areas like Gaza by Zionists aided in part by Britain and by Israelis - as far as I know this is absolutely undisputed history.

Those links sre very interesting and offer great insight. It’s not like they are from Gazawood or X posters posting clear and proven proporganda. True knowledge is everything

It's a myth that Palestinians are Arabs who conquered the land during the 7th Century.

Palestinians have actually inhabited the land continuously for approximately 4000 years. Although they identify as Arabs culturally due to speaking Arabic their DNA shows that genetically they are not "Arab".

Along with other Levantine populations (Lebanese, Syrian, Samaritian) Palestinian DNA is approximately 80% descendant from the ancient Canaanites.

Due to natural migration in the region there is a small percentage of Admixture (5% African).

I'm a bit surprised to see that you are happy to link to a spokesperson from Hamas.

I don't speak Arabic and without the full context of what was said a 40 second clip is not evidence in comparison to a Jewish scientist who has studied the DNA of populations in the region.

Also a highly biased company PMW based in Israel with allegations of connections with the right wing government is unlikely to be unbiased.
At least it wasn't MEMRI......

Well maybe this Jewish scientist should tell Hamas that then?

Do you think they don’t know where they come from? Is Hammad lying about his own origins?

Wow, the denial even in the face of the people you are defending saying the opposite of what you’re saying is desperate in the extreme!

Are you saying the video is fake? Israel made him say it? There are plenty of video translating apps if you think it’s not been translated correctly. You can clearly hear him saying some of the words the caption is saying he’s saying.

No problem with linking to Hamas to show who they really are.

There is a difference between factual informatoin/history and propaganda. Nothing here is propaganda - where I haven't fact checked I have said so - and referencing your other post to me, I am not impressed that you are refusing to watch or read links. Why are you here, exactly? I have told you exactly what is in the links - real history, real quotes, real footage. If you think any part is not true, or misleading, you can challenge it, or fact check it.

I have already told you that the Churchill quote is incorrect factually and probably fake, and i told you that if you were sure it was bonafide to give me the primary source for it. I will then be able to read it in context and help you. The quote on its own does not accord with Churchill's other expressed views, some of which I linked (ie Churchill wrote what I linked himself, it is his words, and so it is not propaganda).

Is this video I am linking now propaganda?

There is route to peace and it is utterly disgraceful if countries do not pursue it.

@Anonimummy I will say this really clearly and also put some bits in capitals or bold - not to shout or to be rude but to try to get the message across super, super clearly.

at 0:46 of your video a caption says "Hamas leader: No such thing as Palestinians" and that is the name of the video too. Please note that according to the translation in the video AT NO POINT DOES HE SAY "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS PALESTIANS". At no point. He says that Palestinians are Arabs and that they have their familial roots in many countries including Egypt, Saudi Arabia etc. At the start he refers to "Every Palestinian" - so how can he be saying there is no such thing as Palestinians?

Do you see the difference between WHAT HE SAID and the HEADING?

The heading MISREPRESENTED the content

MISREPRESENTING CONTENT is sometimes done to try to MISLEAD and SPREAD PROPAGANDA. It is for you to form a judgement for yourself about this.

I hope that that is clear now. If you can point to misrepresenting in any of my links please do so.

And PS - no he is not saying that Arabs have migrated to Palestine since 1917. Before 1917 it was part of the Ottoman empire for years and yes there may have been people migrating and moving around and intermarriage. None of this negates the right of the people living there at the time the British took over control to be considered Palestinian and to have rights to the live there.

In the early days after the Mandate, everyone, whether Arab, Jewish or other, had a Palestinian passport.

birdsofweather · 14/07/2025 20:46

@Anonimummy just to try to get some basics agreed, do you agree/accept that at the time of the Balfour Agreement 1917, ie at the time the British told a Rothschild that Palestine could be shared with the Arabs as a homeland for Jewish people, Palestinians were 90-95 percent Arab, not Jewish, and that this had been the case for hundreds of years? As in, that is how the British referred to them (another poster has given more detail going back 4000 years - "Arab" was the term used in the early 20th c). I am just trying to find out if this is accepted or if you see it as propaganda?
