Thought this might be worth its own thread. The freedom flotilla The Madleen was getting close to Gaza but seems to have made a diversion, as it was the closest boat to answer a distress call. They seem to also have four Sudanese asylum seekers on board who were trying to escape the Libyan coast patrol.

The UK and France are asking Israel for its safe passage.

These are separate issues though. Antisemitism is wrong. Withholding aid is wrong.

But you are saying they should. Who are you to tell Jewish people what they should and shouldn't do? And Israel saying something is antisemitic is not 'dragging Jewish people into it'. It is identifying the motivation of the person saying something antisemitic.

Genuine question as I can't see how it has shaken any narrative. I also don't think Israel ever saw it as much of a threat seeing as the war is already extremely well publicised in the West so it's not like it was a secret before the ship got publicity. I imagine it was just a nuisance for Israel more than anything having to deploy staff to board the ship and spend money to deport them.

What does anyone hope for when they seek to educate people? That they will gain a better understanding - in this example, to hopefully be able to see things even slightly from Israel point of view.

Exactly. Its absolute nonsense the issue of aid in gaza was already headline news. If anything their narcissistic stunt has distracted from their own cause as the 'flotilla' has become first headline in some bulletins, not the issue. And pictures of greta drinking cocktails on a yacht in the med, wearing shorts havent done them a lot of favours.

It is not antisemitic to suggest Jewish people who don’t support Israel’s actions or agree with labelling anything not in full support of Israel as being antisemitic.

I agree with this. It shows a complete lack of self awareness on Israels behalf. Really bad PR for Israel that at this stage of the conflict they still don't understand that nothing on this earth could justify the starvation and atttemted ethnic cleansing of 2 million people. I'm not sure anyone would expect anything more from Israel though given their immediate reaction to anyone, any organisation or any country who dares criticise them is 'antisemitism', narcissism and lack of self awareness are the trademarks of the Israeli government at this point.

Jewish people are not required to comment or have an opinion on the actions of the state of Israel. To expect them to is to hold them collectively responsible for the actions of the Israeli government (you clearly said SHOULD, suggesting they have a responsibility). This is clearly antisemitic under the IHRA definition.
