Except our government isn't supporting what's happening in the West Bank, it's repeatedly criticised and quite rightly

Meanwhile our government strikes massive trade deals with China and doesn't say a word about their human rights abuses. English Cricket had a chance to boycott Afghanistan in support of Afghani women and didn't and if our government said anything I must have missed it

What happened in NYC was awful, I don't know how you can blame Israel though 😵‍💫 sounds like an anti-Jewish conspiracy theory to blame all ills on Jews and the Jewish state. The hate marches in NYC have got pretty nasty at times aswell and Jews have been assaulted, the police weren't much good then either

Do you say the same thing about Muslims who scream death to Jews and the infidels? If we ignore it, will it come here? Or are you just hyperfocusing in on Jews alone again?

Of course they are supporting it Polly. That's what happens when you continue to trade with no sanctions witj a country committing atrocities, you are supporting them.

Cricket? The UK has trade sanctions on Afghanistan but yeah cricket.

How can I say that seeing the same behaviour as is seen in the OPT, the same chants as are seen in the OPT is linked to what is happening in the OPT? Yeah must be a conspiracy Polly 🙄

I didn't mention Jews in my post at all.

The UK has sanctions against many Muslim countries, is that ignoring it? Is that clapping them on the back and saying we hope you win? Is that saying we see no war crimes here?

Hundreds physically attacked her whilst shouting 'death to Arabs'
I wonder if these 'protestors' fans of Ben Gvir will also be arrested or does that only apply to certain protesters?

Exactly. There is no mention of deportations for these lovely gentlemen in fact there is no mention of these men at all. And why? Because as Louis Theroux said
Some global populist leaders view the ideology of the settler community as a prototype for a type of nationalism they would like to practise. They regard Israeli settlers as the tip of the spear of what they frame as a global war against Islam.

I saw this as well. They physically attacked her.

There was also another video of a Jewish man in New York (who had taken part in a march) being set upon by a mob of Jewish men who kicked him to the ground and smashed his phone.

Not sure how to share the video but these are stills of the man being attacked

There's an even worst video, of an Jewish Israeli woman wearing a Kuffiyeh (who the mob didn't know was Jewish) who had a brick thrown an her face from a similar mob, causing injury. It was so frightening that she wet herself and many pro Israeli accounts like this guy (who testified that he was scared being a Jewish student) mocking her that she "Fucked around and found out": https://x.com/EYakoby/status/1916603786539188696

It's crazy. This is what happens when you roll out the red carpet to a man convicted of terrorism and of racist encitement. Hosted in the presidents estate, meeting senior members of the Republican Party, giving talks, meeting with police departnents. This support is emboldening violent, racist people to act like violent racist people. A lady with a brick thrown in her face, a lady surrounded by a hoard of racists assaulting her and screaming racist chats at her. When your know that your government supports this type of ideology and let's face it the US has made it clear that it does then this is the natural consequence of that. Those men perpetrating these crimes know that the US government endorses a man who is openly racist, openly extremist and openly genocidal, why would the government be against their behaviour?

How people can sit with a straight face and say that governments support of this isn't a risk to us is beyond me.

Mylegishangingoff · 28/04/2025 15:42

I have the day off today so just watched the settler doc. What is clear is the daily fear Palestinians live under and the daily intimidation they live under from both the IDF and the settlers. That must take a huge toll on them, living under that stress day in day out for their whole lives.

What I found scary was listening to one of the armed settlers talking and hearing words come out of his mouth that I have read on mumsnet, from what I presume are just 'normal' women like me, so many times. The fact that this ideology is clearly shared by so many in our countries isn't good for any of us, Louis was certainly right there, it's worrying times indeed.

Oh my bad, if not talking about Jews who were you talking about?

We've seen the same behaviour in the West as in the Middle East, people burning and tearing the Israeli, the British and the American flags, calling for the end of Israel, death to infidels etc. Are you saying the people doing that are a threat to our safety? I mean you said Where else have we seen this behaviour, where else do people assault others and shout 'Death to Arabs' with impunity? Today it's the OPT but if we ignore it, it will come and it is coming to the streets near us. Well, we have seen plenty of mobs screaming death to America, death to Jews etc, I mean in Gaza they weren't just celebrating on the streets on 7/10, but on 9/11 aswell. If we ignore it, it will come and it is coming to the streets near us, right? Mohammed Hijab is on film going through London streets calling for the blood of Jews. Aren't people like that more of a threat to our safety? Are you calling that out too or is your hyperfocus still on Jews, oh I mean Israelis 🙄

All this faux concern and scaremongering about Jews being a threat to our safety in the West is nothing new. Did you know in the 1600s Cromwell tried to welcome back Jews who had been evicted from England years before (like as in actual ethnic cleansing) but people were against it because they said Jews wanted to buy St Pauls Cathedral or that Cromwell was going to give it to them to turn into a synagogue😂and that they were coming to to use the blood of Christian children in their Passover meals. People actually wrote leaflets saying how Cromwell before executing Charles I, had befriended the Jews because only someone who wanted to kill his king would want to learn from those who killed Christ.

We get it, you don't like Israel, but at least come up with something more original than Jews being a threat to our safety. Can you criticise the West Bank without the conspiracy theories?

What conspiracy theories? How is it a conspiracy theory to say that people chanting racist slogans seen chanted in the OPT after speeches given by a convicted terrorist supporter and racist who lives in the OPT are influenced by what is happening in the OPT?

Do honestly think that they aren't influenced by that and it was just a big coincidence that a crowd of men decided to assault and scream death to Arabs at a woman after a speech given by a man convicted of racist incitement? A yes or no will do fine, I don't need an essay.

May I also suggest people might be interested in this radio programme that was on this morning:

It is the first episode about the how Zionist Jews’ evolving relationship with the USA played a great part in the formation of Israel.

It is extremely interesting. The troubles of today were basically inevitable.

Were there too many words for you? 😉

So a group of people in NYC may or may not be copying something said in the West Bank, who knows. But it's still a stretch for you to honestly believe that what is happening in Israel makes us all less safe. It does just sound like a conspiracy theory. But while we're on the subject of your conspiracy theories, maybe the hate marches and 'death to Jews' we hear in the Middle East are making things less safe for people

I see a lot of the same rhetoric parroted uncritically and relentlessly, line for line.

A reviewer in the independent noted the rigidity of the views expressed by settlers in the documentary, and how the same lines are repeated almost ritualistically, making any dialogue with them feel futile.

It almost reminds me a bit of Russian state or Trumpian disregard for truth or reality – a complete rejection of being held to normal standards of discourse. And in a way it’s a display of contempt and disinterest and a ploy to wear down and discourage any opposition or criticism.

The rigid, logically incongruent lines repeated again and again function not as a genuine argument but more as a sort of armour.

Seriously, you can't even give a yes or a no? We are all against extremism and recognise it's threat until it's the type of extremism you see from the Israeli government and their settlers, then suddenly it's a 'conspiracy theory'. Alright Polly.

I could use the same argument I have seen pro-Palestinian supporters say on here in defence of the hate marchers, there's always a few bad eggs. Also, while it doesn't make what happened right, the pro-Palestinian protestors went into a very religious Jewish neighbourhood in Brooklyn. It would be as provocative as Tommy Robinson leading a protest against Asian grooming gangs in Bradford.

And while there was a speech yesterday which they wanted to counter-protest on Saturday they went to Brooklyn and surrounded a synagogue just to harass Jews. That's nothing to do with Israel, just antisemitic pro-Palestinians who wanted to harass and provoke Jews in America

The lady who was surrounded and attacked wasn't part of any protest.

The woman who got a brick in the face was Jewish and not allowed into a Jewish neighbourhood or else she risks getting a brick in the face?

Some great excuses for violence there Polly.

Mylegishangingoff · 28/04/2025 16:24

So in one sentence you are saying it's provocative to protest in a Jewish neighbourhood, in the next sentence it's nothing to do with Jews? Which is it? It can't be both? Surely if its nothing to do with Jews then there was no provocation there, they just went feral at the sight of people standing up for Palestinians.

Feral? Every time you post you show your true colours more and more. Although, if you want to talk about feral, we could talk about the hate marchers turning feral and threatening counter protestors in London standing up for Palestinians by calling out Hamas for being terrorists. The counter protestors needed police protection just for standing there quietly

And of course it was provocative just like I described. And it has everything to do with Jews when Pro-Palestinian protestors deliberately target Jews just wanting to go to their place of worship. I think people like those protestors are far more of a risk to our safety. Like they say, it starts with Jews, it never ends with them.
