Conflict in the Middle East

Anti Israel Rhetoric is rife. Why?

1000 replies

cindyhove · 05/04/2025 14:19

As of April 5, 2025, numerous armed conflicts are ongoing worldwide, varying in scale and intensity. According to the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, over 110 armed conflicts are currently being monitored, encompassing both international and non-international engagements.
why is israel the only one to be demonised out of the current 110 conflicts?
The answer is blindingly obvious

Only because we split hairs over definitions.

aim is to annihilate an entire group of people.
people are captured and kept in inhumane conditions with allegations of abuse and torture.
has a long history of attacks from and against opposing group.
have had actions condemned internationally.

who am I talking about? Hamas or Israel?

Legal definitions in the U.K. are more than that. You can’t for example post online for proscribed terrorist organisations in the same way.

So even if people have opinions and want to express them luckily the law doesn’t allow it.

PollyPaintsFlowers · 07/04/2025 14:52

Oh please. If Israel wanted to get rid of Palestinians they could have done so, but they haven't. In fact the population in Gaza has grown over the past 18 months. You yourself said upthread they have superior strength

Meanwhile, Hamas have a charter documenting their commitment to wiping out 'the Zionist state'

Is that because Israel are benevolently murdering palestinians slowly or because they know putting their cards on the table will lose them the international support they do have left because it would make it impossible to ignore their war crimes?

what effect do you expect stating Hamas have a charter outlining their intentions to have on me? I know. Once again, I do not support Hamas. Not condoning one thing doesn’t automatically mean the other is supported.

I’m sure that legal definitions are more in depth and diplomatic. It doesn’t really change what’s in front of us.

you still didn’t say whether I was talking about Israel or Hamas.

It wasn’t a question to me.

Generally people suggesting it’s fine to talk about proscribed terrorists in the same way as non proscribed because they want to express an opinion probably find they can’t in the UK.

Thankfully as on SM support needs to be eliminated for the former.

No, there's no nuance in the law. Since 2019 Hamas have been a proscribed terrorist group in the UK.

It was under the home secretary Priti Patel, after she was reinstated following her suspension for having been caught having secret meetings with Netanyahu and Israeli officials in order to divert foreign aid to the Israeli army.

This is how you know someone is deep in the propaganda - In fact the population in Gaza has grown over the past 18 months.

How many people have died in Gaza Polly in the past 18months and how many have been born? You know the population has grown in the last 18months so you have the exact figures to hand I'm sure. I think many people will be interested in your death figures in particular given it's such a contentious topic. Now remember we are talking about casualties of the conflict recorded and those buried under rubble and in mass graves and natural deaths and the people who have left too so don't forget to tot them all up. If you could leave your workings that would be great.

whathaveiforgotten · 07/04/2025 15:59

@PollyPaintsFlowers

Could you share your (presumably reliable and neutral) source for the population in Gaza having grown in the last 18 months?

I'm going to go with the most obvious and say they have no intention of wiping out Palestinians.

What's happening now is just a war that the Palestinians stupidly started. They need to look to their leaders who got them into this situation, and also the many Palestinian workers who spied on their Israeli employers for Hamas. They've put a permanent stop to the thousands of Gazans who were employed in Israel. They'll never be trusted again.

The whole situation the Palestinians have created for themselves us utterly ridiculous. Their leadership have utterly failed them.

All they have now is lies, propaganda and inflated death tolls.

But you have the real death toll you said? Would you care to share it or are you just going to repeat soundbites that you've heard without actually putting any though into what you are saying.

Kakeandkake · 07/04/2025 16:53

There's no point making some people who have swallowed Israeli propaganda in their little bubble to try and see out of it.
Thankfully the majority of mumsnet as indicated by this poll haven't

Maybe, maybe not. What I'm not going to do is believe a single thing that comes from a group of people so evil and depraved that they kidnapped a mother with her two children in her arms, burned a whole family alive including 3 children under the age of ten, shot an 8 year old boy in the middle of his forehead and tied a mother and child together with zip ties then burned them alive and then promised to do it all again

Who will you believe Polly? You don't believe Palestinians either, you don't believe the UN or human rights organisations. Do you believe the International Drs that have been inside Gaza?

Funnily enough I wouldn't believe a word that comes from a group that sends drones to shoot children that are lying injured after a bombing.

You don't need to. Hamas livestreamed the massacre they committed to their friends and families back home

I never mentioned Hamas so I'm not sure why you mentioned it. I don't support them and think October 7th was an abomination.
Drones to shoot injured children though. Do you condemn the IDF?

I'm sure conditions in Gaza are awful, war is terrible, what did they think would happen after October 7th? They were as evil as I think it's possible for humans to be, did they really think Israel wouldn't do a thing? Even after their leaders went on television and promised to do it again? They're not children. They have agency. What did they expect?

PollyPaintsFlowers · 07/04/2025 17:35

At least this Palestinian is calling out the leadership, but he lives in the US so he's safe to do so now. If people actually cared about Palestinians they'd spend less time attacking Israel and more te trying to free Gazans from Hamas

You’re the one who quoted my question, I thought you’d at least have a comment on it.

Martymcfly24 · 07/04/2025 17:44

@PollyPaintsFlowers
Is shooting injured children with a drone a war crime or is it just war ?

Because I think that's as evil as humans can possibly be just like October 7th.

If you condone it (I'll presume you not answering is a technical issue rather than actually agreeing with the action) then you don't get to be judge and jury on the definition of evil.
