Anti Israel Rhetoric is rife. Why?

1000 replies

cindyhove · 05/04/2025 14:19

As of April 5, 2025, numerous armed conflicts are ongoing worldwide, varying in scale and intensity. According to the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, over 110 armed conflicts are currently being monitored, encompassing both international and non-international engagements.
why is israel the only one to be demonised out of the current 110 conflicts?
The answer is blindingly obvious

Let me be clear - Hamas and the Israeli government lie. They’re both liars with equally reprehensible agendas.

Why do you think that journalistic access is unimportant? What’s the problem with people taking their own decision to go into danger? Are you frightened (like the Israeli government) they will reveal without doubt that their actions are as heinous as those they profess to be fighting against?

Strawman arguments, I have nothing to answer as I've claimed none of those things

You believe the Israeli government has an equally reprehensible agenda with Hamas?

Got it.

Yes I do. I didn’t think it would go that way but I’ve heard it straight from the mouths of Israeli officials that all Gazans are Hamas and Hamas ‘need’ to be wiped out. There’s no other end game here is there?

top Hamas officials have been killed, that’s not enough. Hostage/prisioner exchanges have been negotiated and reneged because they’re not enough. Israel, referring to the government representing citizens, have the same objective as Hamas in reverse.

You've shown who you are, so I see it's pointless arguing with you.

However. The Israeli government is democratically elected. There are extremely problematic elements and more moderate elements. They run an extremely successful nation state, with many profitable sectors. They protect their own citizens with the Iron Dome. There is a decent level of employment, free press, no food shortages and a tourist industry.

Hamas are a terrorist organization who's main aim is to get rid of the 'Zionist Entity'. They violently suppress opposition. There hasn't been an election for 15 years or so. They started a war and made no provision for taking care of their own. They openly call their own civilians 'necessary sacrifices' and encourage them into harms way in order to protect their fighters. They have bought nothing but death and destruction to Gaza.

But you find them equally reprehensible.

I see you.

Incorrect. Lay down their arms yes, but only for ten years. They've never agreed to long term peace with Israel nor recognition of the Israeli state. They have also never changed their charter expressing their commitment to the destruction of the entire state of Israel

PollyPaintsFlowers, I think you are confusing the West Bank with Gaza. I was talking about the West Bank. The situation in the West Bank is very different, where the occupying forces and the illegal settlers maraud around innocent people's villages, killing their sheep, stopping them from tending to their olive groves and attacking them, trying to force them to leave.

I see you too. As much as you may not like it, Israel don’t get to make up their own rules of warfare without scrutiny and/or criticism. They have independent sovereignty and have a voice internationally. As such they have agreed to standards that aren’t being adhered to. If this is who they are, so be it, but asking (strong arming) people to pretend they’re something they’re quite clearly not isn’t something you can’t control on a global level.

Israel are accused of war crimes and currently their defence is ‘n’uh and if we did it’s because they started it, and no you can’t check for yourselves because if you do it means you don’t accept our word as gospel and you’re antisemitic’

And what do the rest of this lovely government do while the few bad apples are committing war crimes, occupying the West Bank, defending settlers as they burn out villages and are funding illegal settlements? Rotten apples spread to the rest of the barrel. They might not be rotten to the core but they aren't sweet either.

The West Bank where they kill little old Jewish women on a bus, a 14 year old jewish shepherd and a two month old baby? That West Bank?

And you were clearly talking about Hamas before. Saying they'd lay down their arms which wasn't the full story

I think this is the worst government Israel has had since it's birth. I think they are losing the moral high ground every day they continue this carnage. I think the original Zionists would be horrified to see what current administration is doing in Gaza.
However, they are still protecting their own citizens and running a successful nation.

Hamas aren't. You name me one positive thing Hamas has done for Gazans.

For this reason I think saying Israel's government is just as bad as Hamas is wrong, and yes, antisemitic.

I didn't mention Hamas and laying down their arms. Lots of Palestinians have been killed and as per my post yesterday, many Palestinian children are killed in the West Bank. Here are statistics from last year https://www.dci-palestine.org/targeting_childhood_palestinian_children_killed_by_israeli_forces_and_settlers_in_the_occupied_west_bank . And this one about the two-year old shot while his father was strapping him into the car in June 23, long before 7th October always makes me cry. https://www.dci-palestine.org/two_year_old_palestinian_boy_shot_in_head_by_israel_forces_dies_in_hospital In a country full of snakes, I have my doubts about the 14 year old shepherd.

However, it's not a race to the bottom about who can be the most brutal and kill the most people. It is to show why there is antagonism toward Israel, as per the original question.

Why do you have doubts about the 14 year old being murdered? Do you also have doubts about the Itamar Massacre?

The Itamar attack, also called the Itamar massacre, was an attack on a Jewish family in the Israeli settlement of Itamar in the West Bank that took place on 11 March 2011, in which five members of the same family were murdered in their beds. The victims were the father Ehud Fogel, the mother Ruth Fogel, and three of their six children—Yoav, 11, Elad, 4, and Hadas, the youngest, a three-month-old infant. Wikipedia

‘Israelis are not human beings,’ says reporter used by BBC in Gaza

A journalist who appears prominently on the BBC’s Arabic channel to report on Gaza has been accused of describing Israelis as less than human and Jews as “devils”. Ahmed Alagha has appeared on BBC Arabic reporting from the conflict numerous times since January last year.

Responding to footage of Gaza tower blocks being bombed by Israel following Hamas’s attacks on Oct 7 2023, Mr Alagha posted on X a few days later: “This is not a Hollywood film; this is what was done to these towers in Gaza City at the hands of the Israeli occupation, and it’s happening to us in Gaza.
“It [the Israeli occupation] is the embodiment of filth, the unrivalled swamp of wickedness. As for the Jews, they are the devils of the hypocrites.”
The following day he posted: “And as we know, the ‘Israelis’ are not human beings to begin with, rather they are not even beasts. Perhaps they belong to a race for which no description can capture the extent of their lust and sadism.
“That’s just one snapshot. What if we were to compile all their crimes across that entire dark/black history, from the moment of occupation up until now? It is the entity of filth, and the unrivalled swamp of wickedness.”

Critics say that some of Mr Alagha’s offensive posts predate the Oct 7 attacks.
Responding to a shooting near a Jerusalem synagogue which claimed the lives of seven civilians on Holocaust Memorial Day in January 2023, he posted a photograph of the attacker, adding the message: “This martyr stole my heart, he alone killed eight Zionists.”

Sources emphasised that Mr Alagha is not a member of staff at the BBC.
But the broadcaster’s use of Mr Alagha as a freelance contributor has been condemned by media watchers, who accuse BBC Arabic, part of the BBC’s World Service, of anti-Israel bias.
The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis (Camera) says it is indicative of BBC Arabic’s willingness to use contributors who cannot be trusted to deliver objective and balanced broadcasting.

I don’t support or condone Hamas so why would you expect me to be able to name something good they’ve done?

how is saying Israel’s government’s aims are indistinguishable from Hama’s antisemitic? The religion of the government is irrelevant from a neutral bystanders perspective which I happen to think is where I sit. I’m not calling for the Israeli government or overarching state religion to be dissolved, I’m calling for accountability of a state that has aligned itself with allies that suggest their actions should be accountable and held to particular standards that have come about after a shared history.

my conclusion that Israeli state and Hamas are as bad as one another when they are both on record as calling for the complete annihilation of one another doesn’t make me either antisemtic or islamaphobic.

PollyPaintsFlowers · 07/04/2025 12:12

Why don't Palestinians have their own state?

'In 2000, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak met at Camp David, with Palestinian Liberation Organization Chairman Nasser Arafat, to conclude a new two-state plan. Barak offered Arafat a Palestinian state in all of Gaza, and 94% of the West Bank, with East Jerusalem as its capital. But the Palestinian leader rejected the offer.
In the words of U.S. President Bill Clinton, “Arafat was here 14 days and said no to everything.”
Instead, the Palestinians launched a bloody wave of suicide bombings that killed over 1,000 Israelis and maimed thousands more, on buses, in wedding halls, and in pizza parlors.'

There were a further four times Palestinians were offered their own state. They rejected every one

I don't know how I can say this more simply for you.

Israeli government = some bad, some good, still takes some care of its own.

Hamas = all bad, no good, doesn't even take care of its own.

You can't even admit the truth of this because you are so blinded by your hatred of Israel.
