Conflict in the Middle East

Anti Israel Rhetoric is rife. Why?

1000 replies

cindyhove · 05/04/2025 14:19

As of April 5, 2025, numerous armed conflicts are ongoing worldwide, varying in scale and intensity. According to the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, over 110 armed conflicts are currently being monitored, encompassing both international and non-international engagements.
why is israel the only one to be demonised out of the current 110 conflicts?
The answer is blindingly obvious

Israel will not risk another Hamas rising from the ashes

there’s only one way to attempt that isn’t there? Genocide.

I think Israel underestimate the Islamic world. They may not want to be associated with this conflict but Israel manufacturing generations of martyrs isn’t going to guarantee peace in the future. If anything the direct opposite.

I think the entire western world underestimates the Muslim world. It’s israel first then…..

I’m reading as many of the responses as I can. Sadly the Israel Gaza situation is totally polarising it seems. It’s not that I don’t feel for the innocent victims on either side but the media coverage (and MN) is certainly biased against israel. Just look at the vote to see!

It's people's opinions who believe you are being unreasonable.

Well it is a war…

Very true

Cindyhove, you can't just say 'not true at all'. You need to be able to justify what you are saying. Prove that there wasn't a blockade and that Palestinians could live normal lives, could leave Gaza easily, that Israel didn't bomb the airport in 2006 making it unusable, that Gazans could go fishing without restriction, that boats taking them supplies didn't get attacked by the Israeli navy / coastguard. That they could get treated for cancer with radiotherapy in Gaza, and as they couldn't, parents could easily accompany their children to get treated in Israeli hospitals, etc etc.

You’re wasting your fingers.
This thread should be closed. There’s no chance of any rapprochement at all.
There’s none so blind as those that will not see.

Kakeandkake · 06/04/2025 18:28

I also think you are being unreasonable. Israel are carrying out daily massacres in Gaza killing thousands of children and yet you are surprised that people object to this?

Mylegishangingoff · 06/04/2025 18:28

Odras · 06/04/2025 18:12

Well I say “win” but I’m not sure making Gaza unliveable, killing tens of thousands of civilians and giving up on the hostages is really winning. And I’m not sure that long term it will be a good thing for Israel either.

I guess I mean that Israel is getting what it wants, maximum destruction and control of Gaza. So what does it matter that you have a few annoying voices harping on about peace and human rights.

and Netanyahu said returning the hostages wouldn’t end the war.

None of this is good for Israel. Half of the world thinks that they are a disgrace. They have 1000s of traumatised soldiers having to live with the awful things that they have done. The rapist IDF members will be roaming Israeli streets. The rates of DV from war veterans is shockingly high. They have had to make cuts to fund this conflict and their take over of the West Bank and settlement building. They have tanked any hope of peace building which puts Israelis at greater risk. It's a mess. I don't understand why people who say they are pro Israel aren't clammering for a ceasefire instead of jumping in to defend every action they do. Not a single bit of this will improve Israel unless an improved Israel means a bigger one.

At last a thought out response. However, per capita the deaths in Gaza are actually much lower than in the majority of conflicts.
when the population is 2.5 million there will be many deaths sadly

That’s not actually true? Where are you getting your figures from?

Yes, they did. Honestly you really should do more research on this topic that you clearly feel so passionate about.

um no. Israeli was attacked by neighbouring countries but that’s not the point of this thread. It’s not a history lesson on the state of israel

Really?

'Arab-Israeli War 1973
On October 6, 1973, Egypt and Syria launched a coordinated surprise attack on Israeli forces in the Sinai and the Golan Heights. Israel ultimately repelled the attack and regained lost ground, but only after the United States made the decision to supply the Israeli military. This war ultimately compelled the Nixon administration to step up its efforts to settle the decades old dispute.'

https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/bbc-newsnight-failed-declare-richard-kemp-link-idf-israel-army-gaza-palestine/

About Colonel Richard Kemp, he is a trustee of a charity directly linked to the IDF. This conflict of interest gives his analysis little value due to a likely bias:

"AOAV has uncovered at least 80 articles in national and international news outlets – from The Telegraph to Newsweek and the Daily Mail – that have cited Kemp’s opinion on the unfurling horror of Gaza and Israel in the past month.
None has mentioned his role as the head of the UK Friends of the Association for the Wellbeing of Israel’s Soldiers (UK-AWIS), the UK branch of AWIS, an Israeli organisation managed by the IDF and headed by General Yoram Yair.
UK-AWIS, the charity part-run by Kemp, appears to blur the lines between raising money for individual soldiers’ welfare and for the IDF's institutional benefit."

Disgusting comment.

The report found that sexual and gender-based violence – which has risen in frequency and severity – is being perpetrated across the Occupied Palestinian Territory as a strategy of war for Israel to dominate and destroy the Palestinian people.
Specific forms of sexual and gender-based violence – such as forced public stripping and nudity, sexual harassment including threats of rape, as well as sexual assault – comprise part of the Israeli Security Forces’ standard operating procedures toward Palestinians.
Other forms of sexual and gender-based violence, including rape and violence to the genitals, were committed either under explicit orders or with implicit encouragement by Israel’s top civilian and military leadership, the report said.

Considering Hamas don't recognise the validity of the Israeli state and are committed to wiping it out, wiping them out will be the only way to at least have a chance of long term peace for both peoples

Excuse me if I don't believe any report that comes out of the U.N. when their anti-Israel bias and impartiality is so well documented
