The images speak for themselves

What do you expect? Israel won't allow food into Gaza and everyone has been starving. The navel gazing is astounding.

That's your take from this?

Wow

These images are heartbreaking. At the same time, I thought it was common knowledge that everyone in Gaza is suffering from malnutrition if not starvation and illnesses related to this as well as the absence of a health care system.l and exposure to constant danger to life. It was pointed out many times that the conditions being visited upon the people of Gaza by the Israeli government would also be endured by the hostages but this was not responded to appropriately.

I have no idea how anyone of any nationality could expect better a state of health for people who have spent over a year in Gaza, being aware that huge numbers of the population there are dead, displaced, starving and ill as a direct result of Israel's decision to raze homes, block aid and cut off crucial aid. The selective outrage is bewildering.

And yet every one of the baying mob looks extremely healthy. How does that work then

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 08/02/2025 18:48

I think people are extremely ill informed about the state of aid in that country. Israel would not allow aid in, much.

@LetThereBeLove so it's OK to rape and starve them then? Really disgusting comment, also many of them are NOT murderous terrorists, many are being detained for no reason

How many of these prisoners are innocent

Why is there always this weird presumption that every Palestinian is innocent

It's quite an odd take

chilling actually

Only stories that Egypt won't let the animals caged there leave.

What does this mean? Which animals?

what do you think she means

What word would you prefer? Murderer? Terrorist? Savage?

Where have I said they're all innocent? It's an even odder take to assume they're all guilty when some of them haven't been charged with anything is it not?

I'm sorry but I didn't know about the prisoners in the Egyptian hotels so it was quite ambiguous what the poster was referring to.

Ilovemytulips · 08/02/2025 19:01

I don't think it's fair to be so hostile towards other posters which don't share the exact view as you. This is a discussion forum after all.

The Red Cross should be ashamed. They never visited any of the hostages and cooperated with Hamas in the dreadful releasing spectacle.
Enough aid passed through to enable the terrorists and their supporters to feed themselves more than adequately judging by their appearance.

I doubt very much that all the 'ordinary Palestinian people' starved. Majority of them seem to be Hamas supporters judging by pictures published by the terrorists themselves when releasing hostages. But you do you.

You do realize there are 2 million gazans?

wordsworthundercover · 08/02/2025 19:11

@Ilovemytulips I don't think personal attacks are supposed to be allowed, but it's difficult with emotive topics and people who are personally and deeply affected. I agree with you that hostility is sometimes extreme, and it can feel more like an attempt to silence than engage.

' hostages condition on release ' is the title of this thread,

what a shame so many posters could not bear that in mind,

instead it seems to have turned into a squabble

again

as always happens when the aftermath of Oct 7th is on a thread.

Oct 7th should never ever have happened !

and one poster can't even be bothered to Google the names of the family still held hostage - Shiri is the mother and Ariel and Kfir are the names of her children and Bibas is the family name.

how difficult is it to type Shiri and children instead of ' the red haired woman '?!!!
personally I find it disrespectful.

I hope and pray that they are ' high value ' hostages and this is why they have not been released yet.
( I suspect I will be questioned why I feel the Bibas family are ' high value ' - well until now I would have said that everyone knows their names ! )

As for the ' release ' of the hostages, I personally did not want nor need to watch such a charade / circus, these hostages being paraded with ' goodie ' bags in front of crowds

The release of Arbel Yehud was particularly harrowing.

I hope all the released hostages find peace and that they are supported for as long as they need/want.

@LetThereBeLove

There was a thread last week which got removed as it suggested that the Palestinians didn't look like they had been starved.

I'm astounded that so many people are in support of what Hamas is doing. It's like 7th October events were reasonable.

gloriagloria · 08/02/2025 19:11

Yes I do know that. I'd say that a great many of them support Hamas and if they dare to disagree their lives aren't worth living.

EasternStandard · 08/02/2025 19:14

On this news I don't think anyone should minimise or deflect from the suffering of the hostages

Some posts are eye opening, how did people get to not seeing the hostages as people who have suffered

I wonder why it got removed? I am no longer surprised at the support of Hamas. Their PR is second to none and too many people fall for it.

I think the Red Cross have nerves of steel to go in amongst that lot, quite likely things could kick off and they could die getting the hostages out. I'm not sure who else could do what they are doing.

The Hamas terrorists on either side of the hostage in this picture look quite chubby.

Plenty of food for Hamas while their citizens go without.

Don't attempt to justify your disgraceful post blaming Israel for the malnourished hostages standing next to the well nourished savages.
It was genuinely one of the vilest posts I've ever read on here.

The red Cross get alot of criticism, but if they didn't do the job they are doing now, who would take their place?
