Looks like they’ve finally got the hostage list.

Efacsen · 19/01/2025 08:21

Disappointed but not surprised to see that the start of the ceasefire has been delayed which was due to start at 6,30 GMT

Hamas are now saying that they will release the list of 3 female civilian hostages due to be released today 'any moment'

Pity the poor hostage families this must be excruciating

Efacsen · 19/01/2025 08:24

Ben Gvir has just resigned from the government

EasterIssland · 19/01/2025 08:30

Toi

A senior Hamas official says that the terror group has sent Israel the required list of the hostages set to be released today, Palestinian media outlets report.
An Israeli official tells the Kan public broadcaster that Hamas has given the names of the three women to the mediators.

Names of the 3 hostages

1- Romi Gonen (24)
2- Emily Damari (28)
3- Doron Shtanbar Khair (31)

I am worried about Hamas seems to claiming this a victory?.in the history of warfare has there ever been a victory in which your army is devastated and you cities f flattened.

are Hamas going to claim the ceasefire is a signal that 'resistamce' should continue and because Hamas have not been destroyed there is a legitimacy for further potential attacks on Israel?

Ben-Gvir has resigned. Hope the door doesn’t hit him on the way out!

Ahh, some good news at last!

Doron Shtanbar Khair mis-named by Hamas

She's actually called Doron Steinbrecher,

Hamas were never going to be destroyed in this way. The Israeli government has been at best misleading. Hamas have recruited as many fighters as have died. And yes according to the experts they'll use the war to bolster support and come back stronger than ever unless there is something else to fill the void.

Igotjelly · 19/01/2025 09:26

Ceasefire now in effect 🎉🎉🎉

Auvergne63 · 19/01/2025 09:32

And Hamas can't even fulfill their first obligation, to provide a list. A bloody list.

You forgot to add, according to the Israeli government.

Auvergne63 · 19/01/2025 09:32

To be fair Hamas admitted it was a ‘technical issue’ at their end. It’s assumed due to the fact they have to use old school communication methods after stopping using mobile phones and pagers (for obvious reasons!)

So, just so we're all clear. When the israeli government makes an official statement, reported by all reputable news sources and with the eyes of its allies on them - you don't believe them. When someone on mumsnet points out that Hamas itself was saying it had problems issuing the list - you believe Hamas. Ok!

While of course the actual issue is Hamas's incompetence and/or malevolence has delayed the ceasefire causing yet more agony for innocent people in both sides.

I did think that they sound very incompetent. This is a big deal, it’s kind of situation where communication is pretty key - you’d expect it to be well managed, old school communication or not..

Then again, the IDF managed to accidentally shoot hostages who were waving white flags, so they aren’t looking like the most well managed bunch either.

Efacsen · 19/01/2025 10:05

''The Israeli prime minister’s office says the release of three hostages held by Hamas in Gaza would take place after 1400 GMT (1600 local time) on Sunday, adding that four other living female hostages would be freed in seven days''.

NB The photo below of is of some of the the thousands of Gazans on the move trying to return to their homes - 3 were killed earlier this morning trying to return to Rafah which the IDF have vacated - prior to the ceasefire being confirmed

Gaza ceasefire between Israel and Hamas comes into force following delay over release of hostage list – live

Hamas says it will free Romi Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher after Israel delayed start of ceasefire until named released

As I understand it Hamas didn't really use mobiles/pagers because of the intense surveillance but had a separate landline system within their tunnels which must now be compromised/destroyed

Please don't twist my words and make assumptions.
Over the last 15 months, the Israeli government have repeatedly lied ( too many examples to cite), and after Ben-Gvir admitted having foiled, on numerous occasions, any deals, I can't help being cynical.
https://www.timesofisrael.com/ben-gvir-says-he-repeatedly-foiled-hostage-deals-urges-smotrich-to-help-him-stop-this-one/
By the way, the only thing I trust Hamas on is their reporting on the number of deaths of women and children in Gaza.

I stand corrected. My mistake.

Can you please hold back on the false accusations levelled at Israel. Hamas caused the delay. Your blatant prejudice of Israel is astonishing and completely unwarranted on this traumatic day for both Israeli and Palestinian civilians. I don't appreciate your hateful rhetoric.

Pennina · 19/01/2025 10:46

I'm hearing 3 women to be released today, after 4pm one of whom is British-Israel Emily Danari. She was shot in the hand and sustained shrapnel wounds to her leg.

Praying for ongoing peace throughout Gaza/Israel.

Give over, I didnt twist anything. I posted something entirely accurate and widely reported. You tried to cast aspersions on the truthfulness of my post simply because the source was an Israeli government statement. Not gossip from an unnamed source, an official statement. If Hamas is a more accurate source for you, own it but dont pretend you didnt admit to preferring Hamas as a source over Israel.

TonysPony · 19/01/2025 11:08

A sad thing is, that even after the hostage release was agreed yesterday, Israel kept bombing, right up to the final minute. As well as continuing to kill civilians and destroy homes, surely there was always a risk that more surviving hostages would be killed - particularly if they were being moved around in Gaza ready for release?

I have apologised for having made a mistake (born from previous experiences).
