I don't think it's news that Iran are funding and supporting Hamas not sure what point, other than deflection, you're trying to make.

Well, the OP asked Has enough been done to tackle incitement to genocide? Bearing in mind that Hamas, backed by Iran, are genocidal maniacs, then how is that deflection? Or can the thread only be 'Israel bad'?

It is clear in the article posted what genocide the op was referring to and what Hamas say and can realistically do are two very different things.

Who is relying on opinion alone? There are plenty of facts on this thread which cumulatively demonstrate that no not enough is being done to tackle incitement of genocide in Gaza. I am in no humour to repost all the evidence which has already been posted so in true mumsnet quotes rtft.

No never said that. But there is a difference between a threat of attack from Hamas and Iran and actual genocide where people are currently being killed, mutilated, displaced and dying from disease and malnutrition

But they are two bizarre comparisons to make Iran funds Hamas and US funds Israel

Frankly you must be living under a rock because netanyahu propping up Hamas in the past is well known and has been reported on many times from many sources, you can choose not to believe it but there are plenty of others that have no doubt in its credibility

They carried out an horrific terrorist attack yes but it was not a genocide. Since you're such a fan of facts do you have evidence to back up your claim it was a genocide?

To say nothing of the multiple words of incitement to genocide from Hamas leaders over the years including 8th October 2023!
Words of genocide. Plenty of examples of that from Israeli government ministers too.

And before anyone suggests I support or condone what Hamas has done, I don't.

But I have shown Iran funding Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad isn't merely opinion.
Gold star to you.

I still think you're either living under a rock or in denial if you don't accept netanyahu funded Hamas in the past, of course he denies it but his word is not exactly to be relied on so I choose to believe his accusers

The propping up of Hamas by the funnelling of money past the blockade is established. People knew about this and facilitated it. Questions should be asked of those people. The existence of Hamas was useful in worsening division and thwarting progress towards a two-state solution that some people didn't want. But propping it up enabled the organisation to launch a horrendous terrorist attack and start this latest round of tragedy and war.

Qatar sent millions to Gaza for years – with Israel’s backing. Here’s what we know about the controversial deal | CNN

Qatar has come under fire by Israeli officials, American politicians and media outlets for sending hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to Gaza, which is governed by the Palestinian militant group. But all that happened with Israel’s blessing.

I'm done, you are taking part in some serious mental gymnastics here to justify the unjustifiable. I don't want to begin to imagine what your interesting information regarding death toll is and where it's come from so I'm out.

I am not sure what you meant about the first paragraph of your previous post.
As for the article I posted being opinion, yes but it cited what other people said too.

The rest of what you posted was to show evidence of funding Hamas from Iran. I think that was the reason for your post, anyway; and US financial sanctions against all the terrorist groups. But I am not sure why that means in terms of the article I posted being devoid of facts.

The article I posted included the information that Hamas was funded by Iran. It mentioned that Netanyahu was allowing cash transfers through the Qatari envoy coming and going, and goes on to say that,

It’s important to remember that without those funds from Qatar (and Iran), Hamas would not have had the money to maintain its reign of terror, and its regime would have been dependent on restraint.

In practice, the injection of cash (as opposed to bank deposits, which are far more accountable) from Qatar, a practice that Netanyahu supported and approved, has served to strengthen the military arm of Hamas since 2012.

^Thus, Netanyahu indirectly funded Hamas after Abbas decided to stop providing it with
funds that he knew would end up being used for terrorism against him, his policies and his people^.

It’s important not to ignore that Hamas used this money to buy the means through which Israelis have been murdered for years.

Edited to say this was meant in reply to posts from SababaToo.

But you are minimising it and suggesting it wasn't genocidal. Of course it was. Christ, are we still debating this? October 7th was an attack on Jewish people bevause they were Jews. They were not collateral damage in a military attack. They were the target. Have you not seen the testimony of the last hostage released?
'Al-Qadi said they caught him and tested him to make sure he was a Muslim and then said to him, “Take us in your car to wherever we can find Jews.”'
Hamas (& Iran) have been absolutely clear they intend to drstroy the Jewish people. You know this. They bring their children up to hate Jews. Both the PA & Hamas pay reward money to the families of people who have attacked Jewish people. You know all this.

I’m not sure what message you are wanting to communicate with the information you posted.

What I do know is that information released by governments cannot be assumed to be without bias, or indicative of the whole truth.

Last night while Israel was bombing another school in Gaza, (what number are we on now? I have lost count how many schools have been bombed) we have posters still in denial against the genocide of the Palestinians. It's like living in an alternate reality.

Israeli government statement that they 'conducted a precise strike on terrorists who were operating inside a Hamas command and control centre... embedded inside a compound that previously served as the 'Halima al-Sa'diyya' School in the northern Gaza Strip."
Why was Hamas operating out of civilian buildings? You seem to have ommitted that detail.
