“The body of slain hostage Nattapong Pinta, who Hamas-led terrorists abducted on October 7, 2023, was recovered in a joint Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet operation in the southern Gaza Strip, officials announced Saturday morning.
Pinta, a Thai national, was kidnapped alive by terrorists of the Mujahideen Brigades — a relatively small terror group in the Strip and somewhat allied with Hamas — from the Gaza border community of Kibbutz Nir Oz, where he worked as a farmhand.
The IDF said it believed that the terror group murdered Pinta in captivity during the first months of the war.Intelligence obtained during a Shin Bet interrogation of a Palestinian terror operative who was detained in Gaza led the IDF to the location of Pinta’s body in Rafah, the military said.
The IDF said the exact circumstances of his death and date were currently unknown and were under investigation.Pinta was among three hostages whom Israel had grave concerns for their lives, though had not until now officially declared Pinta dead.
The IDF said the operation in Rafah on Friday was carried out using “precise intelligence” obtained by the Shin Bet from its interrogation of the terror operative and other information collected by the military’s Hostages Headquarters unit and the Military Intelligence Directorate.
After his body was brought to Israel and identified at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, also known as Abu Kabir, Israeli officials notified Pinta’s family, Thai officials, and Kibbutz Nir Oz.
The Mujahideen Brigades is a relatively small terror group in the Strip that was also responsible for the abduction and murder of Shiri Bibas and her two young sons, Ariel and Kfir, as well as Gadi Haggai and Judih Weinstein, whose bodies were recovered from Khan Younis early Thursday.
The terror group is still holding the body of another foreign national, according to the IDF.”

Now Israel has a decision to make over Matan Zangauker. Do they try and retrieve him ?

The armed wing of Hamas, Izz al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, has issued a stark warning regarding the safety of Israeli prisoner Matan Zangauker, who is being held in a location besieged by Israeli forces.
In a statement released on Saturday, Abu Obaida, the spokesperson for the Brigades, said Israeli forces are currently surrounding the location where Zangauker is being held in Gaza.
He said that any attempt to retrieve the prisoner alive would fail, placing the blame squarely on the Israeli military.
Abu Obaida asserted that Hamas had preserved Zangauker’s life for more than a year and eight months. “The enemy will not be able to recover him alive,” he said.
The warning comes amid heightened tensions in the region, as Israeli forces are reportedly conducting operations in Gaza. The Al-Qassam Brigades concluded their message with the phrase, “He who warns is excused,” suggesting that they have fulfilled their moral obligation by issuing this alert.

Hamas have released an absolutely disgusting poster with a foul image on it, in relation to this.

Are you surprised ?

For an organisation that can carry out the atrocities of October 7th, I don't think that ensuring that their posters don't offend, is particularly high on their agenda.

The question is, Do the IDF proceed ?

Not surprised really, they realise that to some they can do no wrong. The poor man should be grateful that Hamas has kept him alive apparently.

Whatever the IDF do, go in to attempt to rescue, or stay a distance and wait to see what Hamas do, will be wrong. Negotiations will be impossible.

Up until now the great majority of hostages have been released through negotiation. Seems to be the sensible way to proceed.
I'm not quite sure how and why you conclude "Negotiations will be impossible".

Yaakov, 59, and his partner, Meirav Tal, were abducted from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, as Hamas terrorists assaulted the community. Yaakov’s sons, Or and Yagil, were also taken captive from their mother’s nearby Nir Oz home.
Tal and Yaakov’s sons were released in a November 2023 hostage deal with Hamas.
Yaakov was murdered during the October 7 onslaught, and his death was confirmed by the IDF in February 2024.“

If this is the IDF going in and the captors killing the hostage, then this is the very worst of scenarios.
The IDF know how depraved Hamas can be, they know that Hamas will kill the hostage. They know that Hamas aren't bluffing.
Why on earth go in ?
Stupidity at its greatest and humanity at its worst.
