I saw an article recently about a small thing that one of Sasha Troufanov's friends does to keep him in their mind (can't seem to find the link now, sadly). Before he was abducted, Sasha reportedly had a routine of stopping whatever he was doing at 3pm for a cup of coffee. So, every day, his friend has a 3pm cup of coffee in solidarity with Sasha. As a fellow coffee lover, I can very much relate to the 3pm caffeine pause. This week, I'll be thinking of him - and all the hostages, of course - and while I have my 3pm coffee, I'll be hoping for his safe return soon.

That's lovely, I too will do that.

For those that are able, a brocha with the hostages in mind before that first sip too!

That's a good idea.

I hope that when the 8 hostages that are not alive are released that it is done discreetly.

Yes, the usual cheering, clamour noise with armed Hamas around isn't required for any hostage release, let alone passing over bodies of deceased hostages. 😥

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 28/01/2025 16:56

@Pebblesonthebeach40

Having thought about my comment I should have said - that it is done discreetly, with dignity and respect.

@Daftasabroom

My comment was and is in response to this thread, this thread is regarding Israelis being held hostage in Gaza.

The clue being in the title.

As another poster has suggested you are welcome to start a thread of your own.

stomachamelon · 28/01/2025 18:43

@Daftasabroom I disagree. That's not what this thread is about and it seems you are merely looking to be disrespectful and cause an issue.
Several posters have asked you not to do it.
So perhaps you could stop?

This is utterly disrespectful. Some of the Palestinian prisoners may have been wrongfully detained, I don’t know, but I am quite sure it’s been endlessly discussed on other threads. and of course if it is true, Israel will need to be held accountable. And if bodies are being held by Israel, then yes, they need to be returned, respectfully, and not as part of any hostage deal. But this is not the place for that discussion.

A not insignificant number of the prisoners being exchanged for our hostages are murderers and mass murderers, serving well deserved life sentences. Involved in planning horrific massacres, some of which I well remember. The entire premise of releasing mass murderers for Kfir and Ariel Bibas, while not even telling us if they are dead or alive, is an absolute disgrace. No toddler, no baby, no hostages should have been taken by Hamas in the first place.

If you cannot be respectful of other people’s pain, then don’t speak.

Israel has received the names of the three hostages to be released tomorrow, but not yet made public as they are updating the families. Reports that the 5 Thai hostages i are to be released as well ❤️
TOI says not officially confirmed- I don’t know if that’s referring to the Thais, or all 8 hostages.

EllaDisenchanted · 29/01/2025 16:32

Names have been released:
Agam Berger, Arbel Yehud, and Gadi Mozes. I’ve had Gadi’s name up for months, happy to take it down! ❤️
5 Thai hostages also to be released, out of 8 still being held. 2 of the 8 Thai hostages are not alive. Names for the Thai hostages have not been provided, however this is the list of who they are holding:
There are eight Thai nationals still held in Gaza: Surasak Lamnau, Pingsa Nattapong, Bannawat Seathao, Sathian Suwankam, Sriaoun Watchara, and Pongsak Tanna, as well as Sudthisak Rinthalak and Sonthaya Oakkharasr, both of whom are confirmed dead.

now we wait again 🙏

Agam Berger now in the hands of the IDF B'H ❤

Have seen a video of Gadi Mozes and Arbel Yehuda together. They are being released separately (PIJ, I think).

https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/israel-identifies-five-thai-hostages-released-by-hamas/

"Israel names the five Thai hostages who have been handed over from the Red Cross to the IDF along with Israelis Arbel Yehoud and Gadi Mozes.

The five Thai civilians, who were kidnapped on October 7, 2023, while working as agricultural laborers, are named as Pongsak Thenna, Sathian Suwannakham, Watchara Sriaoun, Bannawat Seathao and Surasak Lamnau, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

There is one other Thai hostage considered by Israel to be alive still in captivity: Pinta Nattapong. Two other Thai hostages, Sudthisak Rinthalak and Sonthaya Oakkharasri, have been declared by Israel to be dead, with their bodies held captive."
