Boycotting Israeli products/services

I’m trying my best to support the boycott. For those doing the same - what products/services are you using instead?

The hardest one for me has been giving up on going to Disney Paris next year. I had planned it as a joint birthday present, kids will be the perfect age. But I can’t stand in Disney with my kids knowing they support a regime killing kids.

Any good alternatives to Disney, or any other brand on the list?

From wiki
The coalition government consists of six parties — Likud, United Torah Judaism, Shas, Religious Zionist Party, Otzma Yehudit and Noam

likud - right wing
United Torah - right wing
shas

Religious Zionist far right
Otzma far right
Noam far right

if this is right only 5/6 parties is right or far right. And the 1/6 only the fiscal past is centre left and the social one is right wing

Exactly this. Facts.

SpiritAdder · 21/06/2024 20:35

Qatar hasn’t funded terrorism? I thought the US requested they act as 3rd party mediators? They aren’t friends of Hamas.

So you agree that you were mistaken and the media does not describe the entire Israeli government as “far right” therefore the odd double standard you thought you saw wasn’t real?

I’ll start adding the word irony so you understand that the sentence was irony. Do you know why are all these websites lying then ?

@EasterIssland the only irony here is that you yourself cannot recognise irony. Your ironical comment was joyful to seize upon with mock irony of my own which flew over your head faster than the defunct Concorde.

MoMo999 · 21/06/2024 20:59

People can keep their odd disturbance or wilful misunderstanding. As I said, not prepared to entertain it.

The Palestinean Ambassador to the UN was given rousing applausing at the UN when they voted through the resolution to recognise Palestine as a state. He said (from Reuters):

"We want peace, we want freedom," Palestinian U.N. Ambassador Riyad Mansour told the assembly before the vote. "A yes vote is a vote for Palestinian existence, it is not against any state. ... It is an investment in peace."

He was the one who was applauded. I couldn't agree more and think the increasing recognition of the state of Palestine is certainly a comfort and joy to the innocent Palestinean civilians suffering so much. It is so important that they know they are not alone and I commend all countries, especially Western, who take steps in this regard to help bring about peace that is just all round.

Interesting that you’ve decided to reply to this comment but not the one where I ask you to proof your words.

1.1billion Hindus from India support Israel.

Well said EasterIssland and for demonstrating earlier that Media are indeed legitimately terming something far right which is.

Sussurations · 21/06/2024 21:20

@MoMo999 where would you put Hamas on the political spectrum?

Are they on the political spectrum? They are designated terrorists by some Western governments as noted by the BBC and Sky.

Conflating Hamas with Palestineans or Muslims is Islamaphobic.

Google is your friend but here's one article about India's support for Israel. If you go to pro Israel demos or demos against antisemitism you always see Indian flags (as well as Kurds, Iranians etc) https://time.com/6336217/india-modi-pro-israel/

How India Became Pro-Israel

The South Asian country was once a leading pro-Palestinian voice, but India-Israel ties have blossomed under Prime Minister Modi.

Sussurations · 21/06/2024 21:49

Yes, I know that Hamas is a terrorist organisation. I don’t think they are outside the political spectrum, no.

Thanks but can you point me as where does it say that 1.1 billion Hindus from India are pro Israel? That what @keenforhelp said today. The government might be pro Israel and there is support for the country coming out of India , I don’t deny that myself. But that’s not what the other poster indicated and that’s what I’m questioning

I am not even sure necessarily that the Government of India is pro-Israel. Historically India has long supported Palestine, and Modi who makes this sort of statement currently, did not win an outright majority in the recent election.

Scirocco · 21/06/2024 22:28

There's also a difference between supporting a country's right to exist, and supporting the killing of tens of thousands of people.

It's possible to say a country has a right to exist while also saying the government, extremists and military of that country are doing terrible things.

Mellowdramadrama · 21/06/2024 23:13

Those who flaunt support of Israel by India, as if it is some sort of achievement clearly don't know much about the current political crisis that India is in. Over the years, very much like Israel, it has become increasingly right wing and the current Indian government have focused their recent election campaign by demonising the minority Muslim population.
There is a growing trend of support for Israel In India based off this, as many in the ultra nationalist right in India perceive that both India and Israel have a common enemy.

Are Hamas on the political spectrum? Hmm? They ARE a political party in Gaza…
You think terrorists are not on the political spectrum? 🤔
Also …
I don’t think anyone is conflating Hamas with all Muslims or Palestinians…

Indian PM Modi, also known as the butcher of Gujarat is not someone you should be proud of to have in your camp.

Limesodaagain · 21/06/2024 23:18

It’s really tiresome and irrelevant to argue about who is or isn’t on your side

Totally agree. It is important not to be dragged down these rabbit holes - I've just disengaged from it.

I’m no fan of Netanyahu- but the disgusting glee of those who find anything joyous in the current situation is positively sickening.
There are too many people LOVING the fact that they can scapegoat Jewish people and feel good about it.

You know what is good is that despite the apparent rise of the far right across the globe that appears to be happening, it seems that Britain is about to vote in a left wing government into power in Labour, and if polls are to be believed, a left wing opposition in the Lib Dems. I definitely like the fact that Keir Starmer respects the rule of law. I think this is important in both domestic and international policy.

Mellowdramadrama · 21/06/2024 23:37

@MoMo999 I agree. And also as you pointed out regarding India, thankfully the BJP didn't win with a landslide victory as they expected. There is still some hope!

And hopefully both the Palestinians and Israelis are also blessed with better leaders.

Ah good evening oh patient @EasterIssland .

First, I did not say "most Palestinians want Israel gone".

I said "People don't want to admit the unpalatable possibility that pretty much every Palestinian wants Israel gone." So you omitted the key word possibility which completely changes the meaning. I therefore cannot give you proof of a possibility now, can I? However the possibility is probably though I cannot prove that either.

Second - as regards 1. 1 billion Hindus. That is the whole Hindu population in India and I realise that this is may be as much to do with Islamophobia as it is to do with loving Israel.

Whether it is the type of support that Israel needs or want is irrelevant - my point was made to show that Israel is not isolated as per @MoMo999 at 2.35pm upthread. "which is why Israel is internationally isolated now except for by the US, although it has been increasingly critical, and by silly Sunak."

Israel is not isolated.

Over and out y'all.

Edited for typos.

quantumbutterfly · 21/06/2024 23:46

The butcher of Gujarat is not very catchy, how about 'the Nemesis of
Nova?'...'The Griefmaker of Gaza?' they would suit little yahya.

Gazan are pawns in his powerplay. Return the hostages, dead (😞) and alive, abandon hamas and negotiate for a 2 state solution.
