Boycotting Israeli products/services

I’m trying my best to support the boycott. For those doing the same - what products/services are you using instead?

The hardest one for me has been giving up on going to Disney Paris next year. I had planned it as a joint birthday present, kids will be the perfect age. But I can’t stand in Disney with my kids knowing they support a regime killing kids.

Any good alternatives to Disney, or any other brand on the list?

Well, if there were Hamas supporters, they're presumably gone now, then. And given that it's a criminal offence to support a proscribed terrorist organisation, identified Hamas supporters might have bigger things to worry about than stale bread in their soup. Unless people are just using that actually quite serious allegation as a slur against people who are concerned about the human rights of innocent civilians in Palestine. Which would just be mean.

One can be a Hamas supporter but not write anything that would be obviously Hamas sympathising but more of a sneaking regarder nature - so not crossing the line. Those are deplorable too.

Do you have evidence for that ?

EasterIssland · 20/06/2024 15:46

I love how some people only join the threads in order to derail them.
can we please focus on the topic ? Israel products and boycotting them

No - as all posts of this nature have all been deleted but does not mean the posters themselves have been (banned).

Why would they’ve been deleted if they didn’t cross the line?

In some cases, it's been really blatantly disrespectful. While some people might use threads about this for their own amusement, they seem to have no regard that there are people who have been and in some cases continue to be directly affected by this conflict.

The son of a Hamas leader, frequently outlines why a Palestinian state, living in harmony is not sought after. A state where live and let live would preside. However, Lot of mumsnetters know better. It's almost as entertaining as depriving dogs of Isaeli carrots, so one can feel important 😆.

I see there is nothing new here, it's often the case when all other means of deflecting fail, then it's time to pull out the son of one of the Hamas leaders as a final supposed 'gotcha' card.

SharonEllis · 20/06/2024 16:07

Mellowdramadrama · 20/06/2024 14:19

@SharonEllis despite their harsh criticism for the way Israel has conducted the war and oppression of the Palestinians, Jordan, the UAE and Saudi Arabia helped in repelling Iran's attack against Israel. I mean if they really wanted to see Israel's destruction as posters on here seem to suggest, then it would have been the perfect time to sit back and do nothing.

Yrs, that's very true but I suspect that is more because theu don't want the destabilising effect of Iran precipitating a wider war.

Are you disputing his first hand knowledge?

He has a name - Mosab Hassan Youseff. He experienced a lot of trauma, things no one should have to face, and did some very brave things to try to save lives.

I disagree with him on some key points about faith and politics, but I have respect for him and empathy for what he went through. It's hardly surprising that he has a somewhat pessimistic take, given what he's endured.

I still think that, if someone can change their carrot supplier to a more local one that doesn't pay taxes that contribute to the funding of things inconsistent with that person's values, that's better than buying carrots with a disproportionately big carbon footprint and an ethical cost as well.

If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more ‎violence. If the Jews put ‎down their weapons ‎today, there would be no ‎more Israel.

  • *that is simply a lie, have you not seen those crazy settlers and how they torment the Palestinians on a daily basis? Very often unprovoked? I mean they were only just setting fires to Palestinian olive trees yesterday.

So what do you suppose "From the river to the sea" means?

Mellowdramadrama · 20/06/2024 16:16

@Buntycat someone should ask Netanyahu and the members of the Likud party the same thing

Bumble6 · 20/06/2024 16:16

SpiritAdder · 20/06/2024 09:47

The Gazans have been reliant on aid due to the Israeli air, sea and ground blockade of Gaza that predates Hamas taking power in Gaza and was then indefinitely tightened and extended once Hamas was in power by Israel.

Are you then saying that if Israel gave control of the borders back to Gaza the people in Gaza would become affluent under Hamas rule?

K0OLA1D · 20/06/2024 16:19

keenforhelp · 20/06/2024 13:56

@Scirocco how do you know most Palestinians have never picked up a weapon? Please provide evidence of this - rather than anecdotal.

They said many.

Mellowdramadrama · 20/06/2024 16:19

And seeing as we are presenting the son's of so and so to prove a point. Here is Yair Netanyahu.

Not sure why my post was deleted. There were, earlier in the thread, posts that were sympathising with Hamas. And they were deleted.

Bravely risking RSI from typing while young people barely out of their teens are sent into combat. Someone should give him a medal.

noblegiraffe · 20/06/2024 16:30

If you think it's problematic when an Israeli says it, you shouldn't be happy with people chanting it on the streets of London about Palestine.

It is not a reasonable slogan by either side.
