Where the hell are all the Palestinians meant to go now?
They were TOLD to go to Rafah, that Rafah was a safe place.
It’s just open extermination at this point.

Even the CIA has leaked to the New York Times that this ground offensive won’t get rid of Hamas.

That's well explained @Newbutoldfather thank you

Has anyone else noticed a shift in the live reporting from Gaza and West Bank?

The reporters started out saying their name, Al Jazeera, town (Rafah, Khan Younis, etc), Gaza Strip or town name, West Bank but now it is name, Al Jazeera, town, and then Palestine. Ie “Rafah, Palestine”

It started to shift around three weeks ago, and now they are all saying “Palestine”

It is like the war as reunified Gazan and West Bank Palestinians.

I had not noticed, but I very much like this. At least recognise that it exists.

So the CIA have a crystal ball.

Kindatired · 09/05/2024 23:52

Well a White House spokesman has come out and said the same thing.
This ground invasion is not self defence and it’s not going to get rid of Hamas

Kindatired · 10/05/2024 00:30

Actually their security spokesman expressed concern that it could actually strengthen Hamas”John F. Kirby, a White House national security spokesman, said President Biden is concerned that an Israeli assault on Rafah would strengthen Hamas.”

MushMonster · 10/05/2024 07:42

Have they allowed the fuel suppplies that were needed for the hospitals and aid distribution to go in through the Rafah or Kerem Shalom crossings?
And any aid trucks?

Bar the "safe zone" Israel has set up at Khan Younis I have not seen any other information about humanitarian supplies and food.

So the CIA have a crystal ball.

Well they are experts in their field and no doubt basing their position on a lot more than crystal balls.

Efacsen · 10/05/2024 07:56

@MushMonster absolutely nothing going in via Rafah crossing

It's not so clear what's happening at Kerem Shalom which has been open and closed - Hamas have attacked the nearby IDF base x2, aid workers have been injured and IDF is blaming UN for not collecting aid on the gazan side - but it's in the evacuation zone

So effectively none via Kerem Shalom either

UK, US and Jordan made some air-drops into northern gaza yesterday

US vessel carrying food aid left Cyprus yesterday heading for the US pier but dogged by bad weather and un-answered questions about how aid will be distributed once landed

Lack of fuel a big issue but also water is running out

It's completely dire - a deliberate and completely avoidable war crime

MushMonster · 10/05/2024 08:03

I have no words.
I really do not know what to say anymore.

Efacsen · 10/05/2024 08:24

UN have called it a 'medieval siege' which seems pretty apt

WHO tweeted a photo of a very emaciated dehydrated 7 yr old girl yesterday who was being medically evacuated from northern gaza but where will she go - the remaining healthcare is totally overwhelmed

Parkingt111 · 10/05/2024 09:34

@Efacsen and meanwhile there's groups of Israelis on the other side who are trying to block the aid trucks from going in.
It's horrible

Kindatired · 10/05/2024 12:42

@keenforhelp
You don’t need a crystal ball to see what is obvious. Are you blinded by the desire for revenge?

Even former Israeli militant intelligence official Maj. Gen. Amos Yadlin, is quoted as saying “Completely toppling Hamas and bringing the hostages home are two clashing goals…We’ve already achieved the most important thing: dismantling Hamas as an organized army capable of an Oct. 7 attack.”

To clear the tunnels of every last Hamas fighter could take years according to US military sources. The IDF is driving new recruits into the arms of Hamas Hezbollah and worse with its campaign of violence.

Meanwhile each IDF atrocity is making the 7/10 attack fade in some grotesque hierarchy where the suffering on both sides is set up to compete on some virtual scale of horror to justify further atrocities.

Parkingt111 · 10/05/2024 14:35

I have just seen the Israeli government have approved further expansion on the attack on Rafah
So so upsetting
How many more children will have to die? Where do they all go
They are sick and tired of months of war and moving around from one place to another
Now they are being killed in their tents

EasterIssland · 10/05/2024 14:41

Can someone confirm this is what they’re saying

I think we should've gone into Rafah yesterday already... There are no uninvolved (civilians) there. You have to go in and kill and kill and kill... We have to kill them before they kill us"

It's horrible

The groups of Israeli people blocking aid are wanting hostages released and appear to see only that end and are wrong to block aid.

The groups of Palestinian people who cheered and beat, spat on hostages/ dead bodies after 7th October are wrong.

In the middle of this there are starving children, grieving families on both sides who are innocent and people who want their family members returned.

Imo talks need to centre on release of hostages immediately, no conditions, hamas step aside, no conditions, Israeli government leaders to go, no conditions and both countries have new leaders and a new start. International peacekeeping and no attacks on each other from either side. Dreamland perhaps.

There has to come a point in time that rather than drive new recruitment individuals chose peace?

After WW2 where millions and millions were killed, the individual countries didn't set up terrorist organisations to carry on and on. Japan swore never again. Germany was dismantled and grew to be an amazing country focused on growth and peace. Generally speaking countries were so horrified by their losses and losses collectively that they wanted no more and generally speaking Europe is so much better. Obviously putting Russias invasion of Ukraine out of that.

On a much smaller scale generally the Good Friday agreement has led to a new way forward for Northern Ireland. When everyone really wants peace and will make concessions towards each other it can work. For the good of all.

Very very worrying - it's like total invasion by stealth

The 3 Israeli sources who told Axios of the expansion were split on whether or not it crossed Bidens red lines on Rafah - 2 said it didn't, 1 said it did

NICU at Emirati hospital is still open - but only just

‘Newborns will die if Israeli attacks continue’: Doctor

A medical aid group operating in Gaza has warned that newborn babies could die if fuel does not enter the Palestinian territory.

As we previously reported, the UN’s humanitarian office said unless Israel allows fuel into Gaza, five hospitals and five field hospitals will have to shut down before the end of the week.

Dr Dorotea Gucciardo of the medical group Glia said 25 babies are relying on incubators in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Emirati Maternity Hospital in Rafah.

“”That’s 25 babies whose lives are at immediate risk if these incubators are shut off,” Gucciardo said.

Even once fuel is restored, “these newborns’ futures are bleak”, said Dr Tarek Loubani, Glia’s medical director, stressing that Israel’s incursion into Rafah has put them at “incredible risk”. “Newborns will die if the Israeli attacks continues

PeasfullPerson · 10/05/2024 22:37

I’m so fed up of people, of little children, dying and being punished for things that they never had any say in. I wish there was some way to make people understand the complexity and value of every persons life, and have it somehow evidenced to them that they deserve a place on this earth, without them having to get to know who they really are, rather than who they they think they are, because there isn’t enough time to do that.

I'm sad for those babies because Israel has already demonstrated that they're happy to kill newborn babies in incubators, and to indeed leave those babies to rot where they died, alone. So I have no confidence that they'll prevent this from happening again.

Dulra · 10/05/2024 23:13

And people still justify this. I hope I never feel the hate those that justify this must feel it must be a pretty dark place to be

Efacsen · 11/05/2024 06:37

Sometimes wonder what happened to the prem babies who were evacuated to Egypt from al-Shifa back in November - tho' medical evacuation of these babies won't be possible as Rafah crossing remains closed

COGAT claims to have delivered 200000 litres of fuel into Gaza yesterday via Kerem Shalom but it doesn't seem to have reached the 5 remaining hospitals and water supplies who need it yet. Maybe it's still stuck in Kerem Shalom and can't be reached IDK

All a horrible mess - as was predicted and ignored by Israeli government
