Where the hell are all the Palestinians meant to go now?
They were TOLD to go to Rafah, that Rafah was a safe place.
It’s just open extermination at this point.

And as sub-text to the above COGAT-IDF can be somewhat 'misleading' in their SM accounts - good example being the evacuation of prem babies from al-Shifa

Also only five semi-functioning hospitals remain in Gaza out of 36

Israeli military orders evacuation of central Rafah

The Israeli military has told residents of neighbourhoods in central Rafah to evacuate, signalling a major expansion of its military operations in the city and threatening the displacement of hundreds of thousands more people.

Not in the Guardian [above] but elsewhere reported this new area seems to include the vicinity of the Kuwaiti hospital Sad

At least 150k people have already left and Deir-al-Balah reportedly very overcrowded and short of resources and being bombarded at times

New area tp 'evacuate' to is al-Mawasi

MushMonster · 11/05/2024 17:38

Much for the "limited" operation.
And I bet you no aid or fuel has crossed either Rafah or Kerem Shalom yesterday or today.
Are they still on peace negotiations?

This was taken from 6/5 but how disgusting of these settlers to be dancing around and damaging aid trucks heading for Gaza.

And yet no pro Israeli person on these threads has condemned the settler’s actions.

One more night with air strikes in rafah and many innocent civilians killed

EasterIssland · 11/05/2024 23:20

Reading from different sources that it’s one of the worse ones

Those poor people.

ConnieCounter · 12/05/2024 08:33

God help them. The situation there is absolute panic and desperation.

The groups of Israeli people blocking aid are wanting hostages released and appear to see only that end and are wrong to block aid.

The groups of Palestinian people who cheered and beat, spat on hostages/ dead bodies after 7th October are wrong.

In the middle of this there are starving children, grieving families on both sides who are innocent and people who want their family members returned.

Imo talks need to centre on release of hostages immediately, no conditions, hamas step aside, no conditions, Israeli government leaders to go, no conditions and both countries have new leaders and a new start. International peacekeeping and no attacks on each other from either side. Dreamland perhaps.

You don't have to go back many posts to see I condemned those blocking aid. Do you actually read posts or just make sweeping statements that aren't true

My post above was replying to this sweeping statement

Parkingt111 · 12/05/2024 10:52

I have seen that some people are being asked to move back to Jabalia from Rafah?
Is that true does anyone know? That's 22 miles from Rafah in the heat walking with barely any food and water
Asking them to move to mawasi Is a disgrace
It's sandy dunes with barely any provisions.
I don't care if I get backlash for saying this but the Israeli government actions right now are seriously depraved. All lines have been crossed.
No thought has been given to the young, the weak and the vulnerable.

Efacsen · 12/05/2024 11:05

@Parkingt111 Not 100% certain but think that there are 2 separate 'evacuations' one in Rafah and one in northern gaza where there has been a resurgence of Hamas - details of the latter are a bit vague

But Jabalia is currently being heavily bombarded and people are leaving rather than being told to go there

Parkingt111 · 12/05/2024 11:09

They have been given so little time to evacuate. Some families have been forced to split up, with some evacuating with the children to Mawasi or wherever they can and some staying behind with the elderly who can't make the journey, frantically trying to find a cart or some other way they can take the vulnerable out before the bombing starts.
It's just sickening how they are treated as less than human.

Efacsen · 12/05/2024 11:12

There's no care consideration or concern

They are quite simply 'in the way' of bigger plans

ScrollingLeaves · 12/05/2024 20:11

This is from Haaretz daily news feed:

The Biden administration offered Israel intelligence relating to the locations of Hamas leaders and tunnels in Gaza in exchange for avoiding a major ground invasion of Rafah, the Washington Post reported. The U.S. also offered to provide Israel with thousands of tents to house displaced Palestinians fleeing Rafah and to assist in constructing systems for delivering humanitarian aid.

Can anyone understand this? If the USA knows where Hamas leaders and their tunnels are, why ever did they not tell the IDF in the first place?

And, if there were reasons such as not wanting to appear implicated in direct actions against Hamas, what has changed?

EasterIssland · 12/05/2024 20:14

This is the news hareetz is mentioning

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/05/11/us-israel-rafah-invasion-palestinians-evacuation/#

Efacsen · 12/05/2024 20:16

@ScrollingLeaves I saw this yesterday in the Guardian and don't understand it either

And exactly if the US knows where the Hamas leaders are hiding why haven't they told Israel before??!

,

EasterIssland · 12/05/2024 21:16

I’d understand they still don’t know but with their intelligence and tools they might be able to find them? Also wp doesn’t say whether Israel has accepted it or not

ScrollingLeaves · 12/05/2024 21:20

Thank you all, I am glad others have seen this too. It does seem so unclear

Parkingt111 · 12/05/2024 21:54

Surely it's better for the US to share this than for Israel to just keep bombing lots of places in Gaza. I don't understand it either.
So the US is saying they have the intelligence but hasn't shared it with their allies? But all this time have continued to supply bombs knowing its likely to continue harming civilians
Doesn't make any sense to me either

ScrollingLeaves · 12/05/2024 22:51

The whole Haaretz article can be found on archive ph if you put in this first sentence.
”The Biden administration offered Israel intelligence relating to the locations of Hamas leaders and tunnels in Gaza in exchange for avoiding a major ground invasion of Rafah, ^the Washington Post reported”

There is very little more detail though regarding the idea of America giving the IDF intelligence about where Hamas leaders and their tunnels are except this:

The Biden administration, working urgently to stave off a full-scale Israeli invasion of Rafah, is offering Israel valuable assistance if it holds back, including sensitive intelligence to help the Israeli military pinpoint the location of Hamas leaders and find the group’s hidden tunnels, according to four people familiar with the U.S. offers.

And also, this detail:

U.S. officials are now working closely with Egypt to find and cut off tunnels that cross the Egypt-Gaza border in the Rafah area, which Hamas has used to replenish militarily, according to two people familiar the discussions.

That seems to match what Washington. Post is saying as well.

ScrollingLeaves · 12/05/2024 23:10

Sorry, I have just found that what I posted there was The Washington Post in archive ph.

So the previous Haaretz newsfeed paragraph was evidently a little exaggerated in seeming to claim so much knowledge about tunnels and the whereabouts of Hamas leaders on the part of the US.

It appears to be the case that it is more that they could help Israel look for them.
