@Toothyfruity I didn't see it on there but sky news reported on it and the description of the bombing of the school was horrific enough

They are now reporting from An-Nassar hospital and its just as bad

Its being said that although Israel said that the strikes and attack in the south will take more care when it comes to civilians, this hasn't been the case
The attacks are just as ferocious as the North and these people are trapped with nowhere safe to go

Parkingt111 · 05/12/2023 12:19

From sky news. The hospital where the report is from is An-Nassar hospital

Reuters journalists have reported seeing injured people arriving by ambulance, car, flatbed truck and donkey cart.
Survivors said a strike hit a school being used as a shelter for the displaced.

Almost every inch of floor space was taken up by the wounded.
A doctor carried the limp body of a small boy in a tracksuit, placing him in a corner.
On the floor next to him, a wounded boy and girl lay surrounded by discarded bandages and rubber gloves.
Two young girls covered in dust were being treated, with one sobbing: "My parents are under the rubble. I want my mum, I want my mum, I want my family."
Outside the hospital, men carried corpses in shrouds to be taken away for funerals.
Around a dozen bodies lay on the ground.

I feel the civilians in Gaza have more or less been abandoned.
It's a tragedy
I can see in years to come there will be discussions of 'mistakes' that could have been avoided but what use will it be for those who are now dead or the living whose lives will never be the same again

Yes it will probably eventually be discussed in the same tones as the genocides in Bosnia and Rwanda. Oh dear, we should have done something about that at the time.

Hand wringing after the fact is of little use to people whose lives are being destroyed as we speak.

Fighting is really intense in Khan Younis and many people are leaving for the Rafah area - there are pictures of internally displaced people just sitting with their belongings in the sand [maybe waiting for tents to be set up]- and it's just started raining

UNWRA spokesman has said as many as a million people will be in Rafah area shortly and they don't have enough aid to feed them

Grim grim grim

Another PRCS ambulance has been attacked that was carrying injured people

Parkingt111 · 05/12/2023 16:56

And reports of attacks on the Kamal Adwan hospital in the north which has led to some deaths. I think the courtyard was struck

Does anyone have more information on that?

Efacsen · 06/12/2023 07:15

WHO director tweeted yesterday they had evacuated their warehouse in Khan Younis to their smaller warehouse in Rafah - not pleased that this had taken time and resources away from other more pressing matters

Not the smallest speck of positive news from any of the hospitals - all are hugely over-crowded x3-x4 over capacity with patients nursed on the floors and still receiving newly injured patients hourly, exhausted staff - and running low on essential medication. Most of the updates focus on the absence of medical aid being delivered and being overwhelmed rather than any direct attacks

There was a piece on Kamal Adwan on AJ which I can't find anymore about the hospital being 'under attack' and being surrounded by IDF

Only 9 hospitals are now reportedly 'functioning' but don't know which is the latest to have been lost

WRT to fate of the Jordanian field hospital - it's flagged on google maps so who knows

Another field hospital was delivered into Egypt yesterday - bit unsure but think it was from the USA

Since yesterday the situation in the hospitals have severely deteriorated
I finally went on to some of my socials and I couldn't believe what I was seeing
Within the last 48 hours there has been an acceleration in injuries
Forget beds, An-Nassar hospital is running out of floor space where children are being treated.
Surely such conditions will greatly increase the spread of infection

Parkingt111 · 06/12/2023 08:19

Sky news have just reported this about Al Aqsa hospital which is in Central Gaza

Despite this, it said fuel and medical supplies had reached "critically low levels" due to road closures preventing them being delivered.
"Al Aqsa hospital has been receiving on average 150 to 200 war-wounded patients daily since 1 December," it said.
"We are running out of essential supplies to treat them," Marie-Aure Perreaut Revial, the organisation's emergency coordinator in Gaza, added.
"Shortages of medicine and fuel could result in the hospital being unable to provide lifesaving surgeries or intensive care.
"Without electricity, ventilators would cease to function, blood donations would have to stop, the sterilisation of surgical instruments would be impossible."

Thereissomelight · 06/12/2023 08:21

I can’t believe it. It’s blatant murder murder murder right in front of everyone. And still the vile but utterly ludicrous excuses are coming thick and fast. When will the US put a stop to it?

Efacsen · 06/12/2023 08:33

US politicians speak out daily saying this has to stop but go unheeded - but Biden isn't prepared to make war aid to Israel conditional during a war

US public opinion is changing tho' since the end of the ceasefire - most recent polls show a shift towards a majority supporting a permanent ceasefire - so that will be a concern for Biden in the run-up to next years elections

The fact that the US has taken the step of publicly telling Israel that it shouldn’t occupy Gaza after the conflict suggests to me that behind the scenes they think Israel is planning to do exactly that. Murder people and steal their land. If they do that what’ll be their next step on their path to creating “Greater Israel”? They are extremely bloody dangerous.

Thereissomelight · 06/12/2023 10:13

And now the US House of Representatives has voted that any criticism of Zionism will be considered to be anti-Semitic and presumably hate speech. Thus presumably attempting to silence any such criticism for the steps to come.

Parkingt111 · 06/12/2023 11:03

I have just seen this about Al Aqsa hospital
No wonder its so overwhelmed
I think generally people judge the situation according to the death toll when the injury toll is much much higher and really shows the bigger picture

In an update, the health ministry says 73 bodies and 123 injured people were taken at the al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza in the past day.

Parkingt111 · 06/12/2023 11:06

@Thereissomelight Netanyahu has alluded to some sort of re occupation again today
He said under no circumstances will they allow a third party to ensure security in Gaza but the IDF will do it
The only way i see out of it, is if after the war Netanyahu goes and the next PM has different views

MandyCandy · 06/12/2023 11:08

This is all so sad and heartbreaking. Thank you for raising awareness.

Parkingt111 · 06/12/2023 11:09

@Efacsen the pressure from within is increasing from Biden aswell as global pressure. I think at some point Biden will have to choose between his seat or continuing to support Israels military actions in Gaza

Efacsen · 06/12/2023 11:21

@Parkingt111 tbh I was surprised by the opinion polls considering the war is reported quite differently in the US - Bidens own democrat voters are more than 70% in favour of a ceasefire - so potentially not just losing the presidency but significant losses to the party too, in addition to the Arab-American vote being long gone

Can only hope that a bit more self-preservation kicks in - soon

Parkingt111 · 06/12/2023 11:26

@efacsen I do hope so
I read yesterday that when one of the US politicians were asked if Israel was heeding their calls to minimise casualties, he said it was too early to tell
And I just thought we'll that's a sneaky way to get out of it rather than saying no considering how many strikes and deaths have occurred in the last 48 hours
By the time they acknowledge it again alot of damage will already be done

Efacsen · 06/12/2023 12:01

@Parkingt111 I saw that too and agree with what you say about how things have detiorated so much

The end of tomorrow will mark a full week so time enough to make an assessment you'd think

OP posts:
Toothyfruity · 06/12/2023 12:22

I mean it's not going to make a difference is it. Netanyahu made it clear in his statement last night (I presume - it was on the news this morning) that he isn't going to bow to pressure from other countries. The US will just make more weak statements about civilians and that'll be that.

I see Samantha Power posting on social media about allowing more aid in. The Democrats make me sick. We're assisting in the bombing of civilians but I'm such a nice lady I'm going to try to get a little trickle of aid for you kids. Piss off Samantha. She's acting like it's logistics that are stopping the trucks getting in. What a charlatan.

Efacsen · 06/12/2023 14:49

I know what you mean @Toothyfruity it'll be too little too late if it's anything at all

With a million people on their way or already arrived in Rafah and no food, water or tents for them when they get there it's spiralling into irreversible chaos

UN's ability to deliver aid suddenly seems to have collapsed since the ceasefire ended Trucks stranded in areas they can't be retrieved from, zero comms and workers not able to get to the rafah crossing due to the bombardment

Catastrophe is indeed the right word
