Hopefully the names are easily legible from the screenshot.

Israelis held hostage (part 2)

I just had a quick look at Israel's channel 13 but unfortunately it doesn't have English subtitles so I couldn't understand it. However there were photographs on the screen of Kfir, Ariel, Aisha and her Brother Bilal so I have a nasty feeling all 4 of them are supposed to be dead.

Aisha is definitely not on the list for tonight.

I think it would've been mentioning those are the children still in Gaza

Xenia · 29/11/2023 21:34

Yes, read the UK's statements when it put Hamas on the list of terrorists organisation - it is an awful organisation.

I see Hamas also made at least one hostage child watch violent footage - that is exactly what ISIS did to children when trying to terrorise them or make them child soldiers - the Hamas and ISIS have a very different view of how to treat children from most other people.

EllaDisenchanted · 29/11/2023 21:35

I have list of names and ages. I’ll post it now

Can you proof this? As it was proven to be a lie

Edited

Well I know, it was said to be a lie etc etc - but these Palestinian reporters somehow happened to be there in the early morning when the attacks happened. I can imagine what would the press have said if it was the other way round.

I hope that's all. I worry a lot about Aisha and how her family might be treated, but especially her.

I am so glad Gali is on the list.

very upset about Aisha - she’s 17 💔

SomeCatFromJapan · 29/11/2023 21:41

Reuters and CNN journalists reportedly involved on 7th October.

Yes local stringers - there was footage of them accompanying the attack and one with a grenade. Subsequently at least one killed in an airstrike to the usual howls of outrage about Israel "targetting the press".

Kaffeebitte · 29/11/2023 21:42

So all Israelis get conscripted at age 18 for 2-4 years is that right ? Does it get delayed if in ft education? Is this why none of the girls aged around 19-30 are being released? Or perhaps they are negotiating for the release of mothers first?

I know what you mean. Speaking Arabic might have really worked against them :( If they're considered traitors... I mean, we all saw what happened to people accused of being traitors in the West Bank just a few days ago.

News outlets deny Israeli claims over Hamas attack - BBC News

Reuters, AP, CNN and the New York Times have denied any prior knowledge of the 7 October attack.

I've just seen the footage of yet another baying mob jeering at the released hostages. The thing that struck me this time was that Gaza supposedly doesn't have enough electricity for neo-natal incubators but it does have enough electricity for thousands of young men to keep their phones charged up for the essential purpose of filming traumatised children. Good to know the priorities. Good to know those fuel supplies aren't being wasted on sick children when there are important videos to upload on Telegram.

I don't know if it's delayed for education but I think after their service people stay in the reserves for a number of years, which might explain the age range of the women who haven't been released.

I was confused at first by the fact that the other 18-year-olds were listed as 'children' but not 18-year-old Liri Elbag. Figured out it's because she'd recently started her military service. Same with poor Naama Levy (She's 19, I think about her often too) and a few other 19-year-olds.

The one on the bike with the grenade ( or behind a guy with a grenade) was photographed a year or so having a big hug with Yahya Sinwar.

Sort of, there are religious exemptions, and exemptions for special needs. It is possible to do sherut leumi (voluntary national service ) instead, which is mainly for religious girls, but others can join as well, including conscientious objectors. They do all sorts of volunteer work, a lot work in schools, special ed etc.
also joining the army doesn’t mean you are automatically joining a combat unit. There’s a huge number of support roles in the IDF. They train in the army and often come out with a qualification and they network and make connections. My friend trained and worked as an electrician in the army, so he came out with a qualification. Not everyone is suited to or wants to be in combat.
But the 19-30 year olds are probably either assumed to be in or have been in the IDF.

I've just read that a hostage says he was held by a UNRWA teacher, another by a doctor.

No surprise.

Much as the "Free Palestine" brigade might think Hamas is out of step with the rest of Gaza many see the reality.

It's not just Hamas

SeaToSki · 30/11/2023 00:22

Im so glad to see Raya Rotem is on the list. She was looking after her daughter, Hila and Emily Hand and then Hamas are reported to have separated them two days before the girls were released. Since they have also reported that none of the hostages knew they were being released until they saw the Red Cross, that poor mother must have been beside herself with worry as to where her daughter and Emily had been taken

EllaDisenchanted · 30/11/2023 08:11

8 to be released today, as they decided to count yesterdays two Russians as Israelis. Original list refused by Israel as not all hostages were alive on the list. 2 sets of child siblings remain, kfir and Ariel, and aisha and her brother.

meanwhile we have had a deadly terrorist shooting attack at a bus stop at the entrance to Jerusalem. Death count so far is 3, and 9 injured, 5 seriously. Terrorists were shot at the scene, and their car was found loaded with hundreds of bullets. A few news sites I’ve seen say there were affiliated with Hamas

Jerusalem post: “The two terrorists were identified as Murad and Ebrahim Nemer, brothers from Sur Baher in east Jerusalem who were affiliated with the Hamas terrorist movement. Murad was imprisoned in Israel from 2010-2020 due to his intention to conduct terrorist operations in Gaza and Ebrahim was imprisoned in 2014 due to terrorist activity.”

victims so far are rabbi elimelech wasserman, 73, a woman (either 50 or 60, have seen both ages) and a young girl (seen reports saying 16 and some saying 24).

SomeCatFromJapan · 30/11/2023 08:36

I have just seen news of the shooting attack. Tragic. Where the attackers released as part of a previous exchange scheme do you know?

EllaDisenchanted · 30/11/2023 08:39

I don’t think so. Both older males, and from East Jerusalem.
One of the injured is a teacher from my city.

EllaDisenchanted · 30/11/2023 08:40

Oh sorry a previous exchange scheme like the one for Gilad Shalit? I don’t know. It’s possible but I haven’t seen that reported anywhere.

thelonemommabear · 30/11/2023 09:03

Realistically who would the 8 be - I sadly think if Hamas was offering 3 bodies then that could tragically be Kfir and Ariel and their mother. Which would leave Aisha and her brother.

What is the demographic do we think of those still held? Any older women still held now? Or are the remainder largely younger women in their 20s?

Parkingt111 · 30/11/2023 09:08

@thelonemommabear sky news was reporting that according to Hamas that's the only hostages remaining in the 'agreed category'

So according to the terms of the truce Israel would release women and children detainees (under the age of 18)

And Hamas would release Israeli hostages from the same category
I think the Thai and Russian hostages who were released were not part of the truce agreement

@EllaDisenchanted @Efacsen could you confirm if that is correct?

thelonemommabear · 30/11/2023 09:17

older elderly women have been released as well over the last 6 days so assuming they were also in the same category? Just wondering if there were still elderly women held really to fill up the 8 spaces
