Nobody chased you anywhere. Every time someone mentions Israeli hostages one of you reply with something about Gazan's

Why is that upsetting though? If you care about both? Making comments about Gazan’s doesn’t negate any discussion about the hostages and how awful it’s been for them does it?

Yes I'm sure the people accusing others of having no empathy and telling them they should be ashamed are not trying to upset anyone at all.

Because it became a constant tit-for-tat. As soon as somebody mentioned how terrible it was for the Israeli hostages people started "oh but what about the poor palestinians why don't you care about them?"

And it's happening again!

Back to Israeli hostages....

I’m not saying anyone should be ashamed of anything. It just comes across as a bit dismissive.

And visa versa
But yes, I see your point that could well happen. I still don’t think it’ impossible to discuss both groups on the same thread though.

Other people are. Those poor victims who have been chased on the thread, according to you by the horrible people daring to talk about Israeli hostages.

@Reallifelurker whilst the ‘other’ thread is for Palestinian detainees there is always mention of the release of Hamas hostages aswell. Though that is not the thread for it be discussed at any length.

But, They are given the respect of at least a mention.
So I think perhaps the ‘other’ thread will offer more debate that you may seek.

Whilst also acknowledging those that go over to it that end up derailing will also be asked to leave, as they have been on the last two nights of hostage release.

Its a shame
But it is what it is for now and means posts aren’t wasted in arguing.

SomeCatFromJapan · 28/11/2023 14:01

@Lobster7 if you can remind me of the post where I said I have no empathy for Palestinians? I seem to have forgotten saying that.
This is, however, a thread about the Israeli hostages.

Readingallnight · 28/11/2023 14:10

@Lobster7 the thread for Palestinian detainees is called

“ Detainees, truce and agreements.”

Just in case you missed the switch over…..

It just avoids upset and arguments, so makes sense.

There are so many threads that people can and do comment on.

This one was about Israeli hostages and every post earlier was followed with what about, or its worse for Gaza or similar themes and some ignorant comments etc.

I understand people just wanted to discuss the topic of Israeli hostages without all that whataboutery all the time. Is that really so difficult to understand?

Ceasefire broken.

Israeli army says “three explosive devices were detonated adjacent to IDF troops in two different locations in the northern Gaza Strip, violating the framework of the operational pause. In one of the locations, terrorists also opened fire at the troops, who responded with fire.
A number of soldiers were lightly injured during the incidents. In both incidents, the troops were located in positions as per the framework of the operational pause.”

Hamas says Israeli forces committed a "clear violation" of the ceasefire causing Hamas to “deal with this violation." But they aren't saying what Israel allegedly did - I wonder why not? 🤔

I hope this can be sorted out ASAP.

@Readingallnight .... it's very strange that you come onto the thread with whataboutery and suggest people lack empathy, then go on the other thread and complain about this thread...

Isee MN have changed the title
Thankyou @stormy4319trevor
Im sure we, here, can discuss everything with respect and without attacks and hate.
This should avoid further derailment as I noticed some popped over here ( after the Israeli hostage release and prior to the release of Palestinians ) to have exactly the same conversation that was going on on the ‘other’ thread in order to derail this thread…..again!
Well done to those who asked for respect and to leave.' This was your post.

It doesn't help anyone at all. Surely just allow people to post on the topic in the titles and leave it at that.

Again it makes no sense for you to continue to do this.

Sorry to derail this thread I'll try to ignore further attempts of whataboutery and requests for empathy proof in future.

Oh no, I missed this. Hopefully it can be overcome and the ceasefire continues and further hostages released.

Lobster7

Stop trying to derail this thread.

It’s certainly a bit galling to see posters on this thread talking about individual hostages and how you can’t stop thinking about them and how you can’t sleep at night for thinking about them.

Don't read it then.

I’m sorry you’re reading things into this.
I advised lobster of the relevant thread.
What I say and do on a thread unrelated to this is of no concern to this thread.
I was highlighting derailing……

Which hopefully will stop.
Any posters that come on here should also be directed away if they cause offence.

Meanwhile so many posts are being wasted discussing posts on the wrong thread…

There was no offence meant on this thread,

His aunt has said Hamas made the children look at videos of 7th October attack.

Oh my God. Sad

That's appalling, poor child.

Except I never said that the people chased off the thread were “poor victims” or that anyone who talked about hostages was horrible.

Parkingt111 · 28/11/2023 14:41

@StarbucksSmarterSister so iv just seen on sky that unfortunately it doesn't seem like anything can go ahead until this has been resolved
It seems most likely that both sides will have to take their claims on who broke the ceasefire and how to Qatar which will try and attempt to diffuse the situation

Sky also said its in both Israel's and Hamas's best interests to keep the truce atleast for these two days so I'm hoping it can be resolved

Especially as it was reported earlier that the families of the hostages that were supposed to be released today have already been informed

Iwantcakeeveryday · 28/11/2023 14:43

oh those poor families.... I hope this is a quick resolve.

Parkingt111 · 28/11/2023 14:43

This was what it said

Under the agreement, the mechanism to settle the conflicting claims should be that Israel and Hamas go to mediator Qatar, which will try and resolve it, he says.
Waghorn says there will likely not be any progress on the release of more hostages or Palestinian prisoners until that process is complete.
"Presumably, [Qatar] will try and work out why it happened, was it an accident - that these explosions happened by mistake - or was it deliberate, and then try and defuse the tensions and put the ceasefire back in place."
It's a "classic case" of one say side saying "they started it" and the other side saying, "no, you started it", Waghorn says.

Describing other people suffering as “whataboutary” also comes across as dismissive. Is that difficult to understand?

Parkingt111 · 28/11/2023 14:45

I didn't realise Qatar was the only mediator. I thought all this time the US was too

Yes we're all terrible people.

Why are you on this thread if you don't want to talk about Israeli hostages? Do you find joy in lecturing people?
