Shocked by the racist signs at marches

Maybe I’m just severely naive but I’m honestly just shocked at the levels of racism of some of the signs at these marches. It’s just caught me really, really off guard.

Evidence has been demanded despite every reputable news source showing tunnel and weapons footage and evidence of hostages being held there in the past

Well actual evidence would be nice. From what I’ve read there’s evidence of an armed presence but not an actual base. There’s even talk of IDF faking videos. Not sure what to do if pointing all that out is antisemitic tbh.

Sugaristheenemy · 20/11/2023 13:04

Ah I see there may be evidence the hostages were at the hospital , they were seen on CCTV (it’s on BBC website). It’s not been verified yet.
The IDF are saying they found a tunnel….

Yep

Stomacharmeleon · 20/11/2023 13:49

This was on sky news along with the footage in al shifa.

Interesting so this proves that the doctors and officials have actually lied...

Why?

Trulywonderful · 20/11/2023 14:23

Anyway this isn't the thread for all that but feel free to post it else where

Jupitersstorm · 20/11/2023 14:24

Yes - this was just posed by Maldives in one of the hospitals threads. No doubt it will be shouted down for not being any evidence at all...

I would expect no less

I found this interesting, talking of racism, that a Labour MP thinks her party is institutionally Islamophobic for not backing a ceasefire.

So she has admitted that she sees the refusal to back a ceasefire as an attack on Islam simply because most (but not all) Gazans are Muslim. Hence, vastly simplified, Muslims see Israel, in trying to eradicate a proscribed terrorist group and rescuing hostages , as attacking Muslims generally.

Labour MP Zarah Sultana brands party 'institutionally' Islamophobic

Zarah Sultana said that the party had 'a problem' after Sir Keir Starmer ordered MPs not to back calls for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in a Commons vote.

This troubles me, it feels at odds with a modern democracy.

There are verses in the Quran teaching that Islam comes before nation. Therefore some people have grown up with this belief. Not all Muslims believe this as a core to who they are but some will do.

I think this lady is either one that believes Islam before Nation or she just thinks everyone is about Islamophobia. Could be wrong but without speaking to her myself those are my guesses. I think if she is upset about the results she should have stuck to saying something like inhuman or lost humanity etc. What she has said will do the her cause and herself no favours. It just compounds stereotypes.

Afraid?
A huge hospital, impossible to know and see what has happened in every nook and cranny of it?

Parkingt111 · 20/11/2023 15:33

@Trulywonderful But that isn't exactly what she said
🙈
Il see myself out but aaargh I just had to say it. Only because it was you and I hold you to higher standards I suppose. I hope that's taken in the right way as that's how it was intended
I think you might find her interview quite interesting and the struggles she faces as an ethnic minority woman in politics

SomeCatFromJapan · 20/11/2023 15:33

@upinaballoon I suspect you don't become the director of a hospital in Gaza without holding party membership.

Hamas sympathisers perhaps? After all every poll shows the majority in Gaza are exactly that and it's entirely likely some of them are medics

Only waiting for someone to insist the guys with guns were really there to protect patients and staff against marauding Israelis ...

SomeCatFromJapan · 20/11/2023 16:42

@StarbucksSmarterSister that's as I thought really. There has very much been a narrative from some quarters that if it's medical personal they are somehow neutral/apolitical but I don't necessarily see why that would be the case.

I do also think many medical staff are being extraordinarily brave and working in impossible circumstances. Just that both these things can be true.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/11/2023 16:43

That would certainly explain a lot, @StarbucksSmarterSister - I liked the responsible source too Smile

Sparklytops · 20/11/2023 17:08

I see the gaslighting is still continuing.

Stomacharmeleon · 20/11/2023 17:24

No TERRORISTS bring hostages to the largest hospital where it is rumoured there is a Hamas operation underneath it unless they own it....
They knew it would be targeted.
Of course it will be targeted.
The directors, doctors and nurses are there to serve and I have sympathies for them.... a gun to your head would be a big incentive to cooperate.
But it does also show however unpalatable that Hamas are well entrenched in the general populace and are happy and comfortable enough to use infrastructure.
And that's why this is happening.....

I know. It is just me pondering out loud. You will have to forgive me, I do that from time to time.
