Of the 50 journalists on the ground in Gaza (residents) 35 have been killed.

If you haven’t already I highly recommend following them on instagram.

Christmas I’m not sure why you are posting that on a thread about murdered journalists, are you suggesting journalists in Gaza deserve to have their whole families killed? What are you scared of? That Israeli war crimes will be exposed?

Christmascountdownpanic · 09/01/2024 20:14

I thought this thread was about journalists on the ground in gaza? He's a journalist in gaza and was even given the heads up about 7/10 so went along.

It's come to light. There is info about journalists who knew what was going to happen Hopefuly he will be arrested as a terrorist supporter. Innocent people have died because of people like this.

Desertrose2023 · 09/01/2024 21:01

Yeah……. you may want to scroll through the previous 13 pages of this thread.

Efacsen · 10/01/2024 08:49

So this is the narrative derived from the handful of examples you've given here and also espoused on pro-Israeli threads? @Christmascountdownpanic

Local ie Palestinian reporters/journalists and freelancers will need to be Hamas approved in order to work so are therefore 'Hamas sympathisers' and fair game for being killed by the IDF**

Whilst at the same time

Israeli government will not allow overseas 'independent reporters into Gaza - re-affirmed by the Supreme Court a couple of days ago, Plus from time to time embedded overseas journalists are permitted to report along approved guidelines

The rest of the time the independent journalists are kept away on a hill outside Gaza with binoculars/trying to 'get a line' in an IDF induced telecomms blackouts

Resulting in only Israel friendly 'news' being reported from Gaza

Neat

**Can also be applied to other workers and government property also been killed/ destroyed disproportionately

Christmascountdownpanic · 10/01/2024 09:14

@Efacsen

No you're wrong.

This 1 journalist knew what was happening and some others might have also. He needs bringing to justice as a supporter of terrorists. He was there watching.

This does not mean that all journalists are the same at all. This does not excuse targeting of journalists but might be a reason why. Innocents have died due to people like him.

Isn't this the best thread to discuss the journalists thread?

Efacsen · 10/01/2024 09:25

So for the sake of this one guilty journalist you think that explains at least 72 targeted killings? And all the journalists family deaths?

Overkill doesn't really cover it

stomachameleon · 10/01/2024 09:50

No condemnation for what he did though @Desertrose2023?

anotherlevel · 10/01/2024 10:04

@stomachameleon where is your condemnation for Israel killing all the other journalists and their families?

stomachameleon · 10/01/2024 10:26

I do think the targeting of legitimate journalists and particularly their families is abhorrent and unjustifiable.

I do think some are Hamas mouthpieces and I don't just mean 'they had to ask permission' I also realise that's to be expected.

That ok?

Why do you keep making ridiculous leaps. I never said that.

There are likely more journalists who went along with hamas and civilians during 7/10. The report shows that some journalists were aware of the attack and ready to go along. However, as I've said before, not all journalists are the same, others wouldn't have known and would have been horrified. Journalists are not one homogeneous group.

Israel must safeguard journalists in Gaza.

Israel likes to portray every Gazan journalist as a Hamasnik, or at least as supporters of terror. The rest of the world sees them as journalists who are endangering their lives and working in impossible conditions. Many of them are young people who make use of their many followers on social media to tell the world what is happening in Gaza. Due to the blockade, the foreign press had difficulty dispatching reporters to the enclave even before the war broke out.

Journalists are likely to be in significantly more danger than the rest of the civilian population, due to the nature of their activities. Is 1 journalist death per every 200-300 other deaths (which is what these figures represent) really necessarily proof that journalists who are not part of Hamas are being specifically targetted? Of course it's possible, but I don't think we really have enough information.

Good point. They really are in the midst of it. How many journalists are there. I was watching Al Jazerra earlier and there were 3 men with press jackets running around with their mobiles, assume they are paid by the story or pictures? Lots of freelance picture journalists.

Another photo journalist Fuad has been killed alongside three other ambulance crew members of the PRCS after their ambulance was struck

I believe her 5 year old child died with her. And other family members. Disgraceful.

Many of these murders are clearly targeted. Saying that it's just chance that so many press members have been killed is sick and insulting and has no place on this thread.

Molymoly · 10/01/2024 18:14

💯 agree. It's shocking.

Some of the faces and stories of the journalists killed by Israel. Hope they are “legitimate” enough.

Such an amazing coincidence that their families mysteriously get wiped out isn’t ?

Another journalist announces he will stop reporting for his personal safety and because how pointless he feels it is in the face of global inaction. He is one who has made the world aware of some of the most horrific scenes and effects of Israeli bombing. His comments in the pic below.
